1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [JFK Coin] | Pre-Launch | First ALT Cryptocurrency in Near Space!!! on: March 12, 2014, 03:54:55 AM
I always seem to miss these launches, but this one I want to hit on the ground floor - - -  the very minute it goes online.  If I have 7K/hash, do you recommend solo-mining right from the start, or mining via a pool right form the start?

Which level of hashrate do you feel makes sense to solo-mine at the launch of a coin?  Curious how you know when to switch to a pool?

What is the going strategy for mining the very minute the launch takes place?  Do people typically solo-mine at that launch, or join a pool?  Will there be a countdown page giving us some advanced notice?  And will Twitter tell us the minute that an exchange is ready for purchasing coins?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are VisionTek CryroVenom Liquid-cooled R9 290's any good? on: February 16, 2014, 06:18:38 AM
I hope I'm not double-posting, as I had some difficulty with my browser earlier....

Does anyone on this forum know if these GPU's are any good?

I've been building lots of rigs with regular Gigabyte 290's, which give an excellent hash-rate, but are super-loud and consume a lot of electricity.

I'm intrigued by these VisionTek boards because they have built in liquid coolers and I'm wondering if they are quieter and use less electricity because the fans wouldn't have to blow as hard.

Unfortunately, they are almost impossible to get - - - so can someone who bought into the first batch tell me if they work as advertised?  Higher hash-rates with lower temps?

I've heard mixed reviews of other VisionTek boards as a brand, so I want to do my homework before I'd buy into batch #2.  Maybe they got this board right?

Can anyone tell me if these are any good for mining?  I know people are buying them because as soon as they were announced, they were sold out in minutes, but I'm debating buying some of the next batch.

However, I've heard mixed reviews of the VisionTek brand as a whole, so I don't want to go buying into unknown technologies here.  Anyone here one of the lucky folks who bought into the first batch and can tell us what kind of hash-rates you are getting?
