1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI on: June 03, 2018, 11:41:07 AM
The Keccak-24core/708MHz (17GH/s) bitstream burns 306A and will run on an unmodified VCU1525 for approximately 10 seconds.  To run it continuously requires extensive modifications as described here:
http://zetheron.com/index.php/hardware-modifications/

That right there is a complete show stopper, IMO, and a very strong indication that this particular product is unfit for purpose. This kind of an issue on a product with a price tag in the $4K range is unforgivable.

GPU manufacturers can keep a 2-slot card going flat out at 300W with their active cooling solutions. If VCU1525 cannot do the same with 150W power limit (1x 6-pin + PCIe at max 75W each), that indicates a very poor design. I am very glad I waited for initial feedback before I ordered mine, and in light of this I won't be ordering these at all.

Has anybody got a line on pricing and availability of the mentioned Bittware VU9P card that will be fit for purpose out of the box?

From no mention of modding in the first post to this is crazy.

Well I installed it and gave it a twirl.  Nice and simple to use but while benchmarking and reading the readme I realized the benchmark doesn't mine for me. A real deal breaker for me since I'm always tweaking and re-running benchmarks.  The 1% mining fee is not bad but to take the entire bench is too much in my opinion.

Not sure why it would be a deal breaker, as you only have to benchmark once, and then it will automatically tweak and adjust your initial benchmark whilst mining that algorithm.
i’m wondering if you read my post lol

Haha, I am wondering if your read my post also?
No need to tweak and re-run anymore, it will gradually do it for you whilst mining that algo.
ahhh ok so if you add new cards or change oc settings you just let it slowly adjust instead of running benchmarks again.  Guess I've been doing it wrong.

So, today is 5/30, the target launch day.  The website and initial downloads will be up by tomorrow night (5/31 late in the evening).  I will post again once it is live.

Is there any way to actually get the cards at this point? Jason from Avnet never got back to me.

I just got this from Jason today:

"We discussed pricing and I was able to get Xilinx to agree to a tiered pricing model.  Initial orders up to 5 units get the promotional price of $3995.00USD each.  Any orders beyond that will be priced at $4995.00USD (special price for Zetheron customers)."

Try calling him directly.  He is a great guy, who is very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you have.

Same here, never responded.
Both guys in the first msg responded to me within a few days.  Crypto one on for bittware isn't ready and Jason put my order order for the 1525 through no problem except a few forms you have to fill out and cc info.  I did use a corporate email so maybe that was the trick.

I ordered the 1525 from avnet so this version will be compatible with all the same bitstreams?

those are benchmarks run side by side during the same period with the exact same benchmarked cards?

If you notice on blaze with current mining you change algos and still hop back to x16r on a regular basis.  Blaze is small so it's very rare you are going to miss any blocks so you will still get a good earning on it.

If you use current on zerg which has a pretty large hashrate for rvn you are going to miss entire blocks fairly often, even lucky runs where you can miss 5 blocks in 15 mins while your miner jumped to phi for a 10 min spike and even then much less profit.  Obviously if you cut your algo's down to a top 3 or something it will help but still I prefer plus on the bigger pools.

If you use plus you will miss a lot of the small spikes but still jump to the big ones like the once a week pgn goldrush.

Sum it up I like plus for zpool and zerg and current for blaze.  I haven't done any scientific tests of yet but this is my current opinion.

i didn't get paid crap since the blocks stopped getting processed.....  they were' in limbo for hours and now i see some of them processed but my balance hasn't budged
