Thanks. I'm using Bitcoin Core. So, I should - use Bitcoin core to send my BTC to a new address (which could be an online wallet address such as Coinbase / Bitstamp etc) - once my wallet is empty then use my wallet.dat with Bitcoin ABC - My BCC will be available in Bitcoin ABC to send where I like
And, based on the above, the following is true: - sending BTC using Bitcoin Core does not cause BCC to be sent anywhere and your BCC remain safely in your wallet.dat
Is this all correct?

Hi. Firstly - apologies if this has been asked many times before. I searched but came up empty.
I have some BTC stored locally. I want to cash out a portion by sending to an online exchange. But I don't know what to do regards BCH. Is it safe to send BTC to an online wallet using Bitcoin Core client? If I do this will BCH also be sent to the online wallet, or retained by me, or lost?
Any advice or pointers to article appreceiated.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who wants to know how to make a claim in the mtgox bankruptcy. The notices posted on mtgox are indecipherable. Is there a thread about this somewhere with tips on how to claim?

"errors" : "URGENT: upgrade required, see http://bitcoin.org/dos for details"
Enough said. As I mentioned, in my case this is not as simple as it usually would be. So I am seeking advise that doesn't involve an upgrade, or at the very least, ensure that there are no other options available.

Thanks - yes, I realise it is old but I want to leave upgrading as a last option. A service has been built on top of this client and if I upgrade then I will have to do a costly analysis of every change in the way the new version behaves in case it causes and issues with the integration. So an upgrade is a last resort at this point.
Apart from an upgrade, can you (or any other kind person) offer some advise please?

I'm using version 40000 of bitcoind and yesterday it stopped receiving new confirmations. Here is the getinfo for it. "version" : 40000, "balance" : x, "blocks" : 225454, "connections" : 8, "proxy" : "", "generate" : false, "genproclimit" : -1, "difficulty" : 4367876.00084220, "hashespersec" : 0, "testnet" : false, "keypoololdest" : 1362824413, "keypoolsize" : 101, "paytxfee" : 0.00000000, "errors" : "URGENT: upgrade required, see http://bitcoin.org/dos for details"
My blkindex.dat is currently 7.89GB (split over 5 files) and database log c. 12GB. What should I do to fix this? I see that it's recommended to upgrade due to a DOS vulnerability but unless I am sure that this is the cause of the problem I don't want to go to the trouble of changing the setup.

I accidentally sent some bitcoins to a testnet address from MtGOX. MtGOX accepted the transfer and deducted the balance from my account, but as far as I am aware it is impossible to actually send bitcoins on the live network to a testnet address. I have tried on my local bitcoin client and it won't allow it - the testnet address does not validate. Can someone please confirm if this is the case as MtGOX support staff seem unable to understand this concept. Support summary:Hello. I accidentally sent xxxBTC to a testnet address nxxxxxxxxxxx on Wed 16 Nov 2011 06:37:42 PM GMT. I think (and hope) that this means that it will not actually be sent by your Bitcoin daemon as the daemon will not validate the address. If you could refund it I would be very grateful. Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, BTC withdrawals are non-reversible within the system. If you wish, please contact the service provider of the address to see if you can get your BTC back. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Hi, I just had a thought that sounds pretty obvious, but maybe there is an obvious answer which I don't see. So, imagine such a situation: The best sell BTC order on an exchange site is 10USD/BTC. I put in a buy BTC @11USD/BTC, and am counting on it to be fulfilled at 10USD/BTC, because there is such a sell offer. Now, the exchange sees those two offers, and instead of matching them, they buy from the other guy at 10USD/BTC, and sell me for 10.8USD/BTC. And then they say: a dark pool buy order came in at 10.2USD/BTC, and we matched the 10USD/BTC sell order with this, while your buy @11USD/BTC order got fulfilled by a dark pool sell order at 10.8USD/BTC. Is this possible, or am I missing something? And if it is, then how do you know if this is not happening all the time? Thanks, Bitboy999 So you mean there Sell BTC@$10 and Buy BTC@11 and then mtgox/tradehill instead of making the sale at $10 places it's own Buy@10.1, gets the bitcoins and then does a Sell@10.8. Meaning that the original buyer pays 0.8 BTC more than they should, and the exchange owner makes $0.7 extra profit free? If this is the case it seems like people place a lot of trust in the exchange owners.... I'm not sure if this is correct tho - anyone else know if it is?

Great. Thanks jerfelix.
And it is possible to have them send your BTCs without requesting a specific amount?

I have a Mt. Gox account with a few BTC in it. Is it possible for a user to send me Bitcoins that will appear in my Mt. Gox account without them first creating a Mt. Gox account?
