2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin SCAM! on: June 19, 2018, 06:16:05 PM
It's important to read companies white paper and if they have a good ascension and platform. As they say read the fine print. Good example of a company that had a platform that ended up not working was (Long Island Blockchain corp).
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite source of information about cryptocurrency news ? on: June 19, 2018, 05:54:35 PM
I would have to say Entrepreneur Technology has been very useful and have some great articles on blockchains.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative Block Chains : be safe! on: June 15, 2018, 03:51:18 PM
I haven't seen anybody post about what would be my biggest worry if I were trying out alternative block chains. I realize this may be perceived as "Gavin is FUD'ding anything that isn't bitcoin!"  (FUD == Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)  But I think some of you might be forgetting some basic computer security fundamentals in the excitement to be early adopters.

When I first heard about bitcoin, my questions were:

1) Can it possibly work (do the ideas for how it works make sense)?
2) Is it a scam?
3) If it is not a scam, could it open my computer up to viruses/trojans if I run it?

I answered those questions by:

1) Reading and understanding Satoshi's whitepaper.  Then thinking about it for a day or two and reading it again.
2) Finding out everything I could about the project.  I read every forum thread here (there were probably under a hundred threads back then) and read Satoshi's initial postings on the crypto mailing list.
3) Downloaded and skimmed the source code to see if it looked vulnerable to buffer overflow or other remotely exploitable attacks.

If I were going to experiment with an alternative block-chain, I'd go through the same process again. But I'm an old conservative fuddy-duddy.

If you want to take a risk on a brand-new alternative block-chain, I'd strongly suggest that you:

1) Run the software in a virtual machine or on a machine that doesn't contain anything valuable.
2) Don't invest more money or time than you can afford to lose.
3) Use a different passphrase at every exchange site.

I couldn't agree more. I was watching Jon Najarian interview Charlie Shrem the other day and Charlie Shrem who is entrepreneur and bitcoin advocate. He was saying don't open an email you don't know. I see and hear about people getting scammed or had fraud from opening emails that as basically there to hurt you. He made some very valid points on how so people just are not protecting themselves from being hacked or scammed.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Again Ban, but now from Twitter on: June 15, 2018, 03:26:54 PM
you know why Facebook, Google and now Twitter is banning ICO advertisements?
Look at the good side of this "ban issue" , there are hundreds of ICOs that are scam. In that way scams are reduced. we know there are cons too but just try to understand the changes Smiley widen your eyesight.

I was listening to some of the World Blockchain Forum Security Token & ICO conference in NY this pass week. Polymath corp has some very interesting points about why social media is blocking ICO blockchain. You should watch the video on YouTube he made some very valid points. Plus a lot of ICO, Blockchain summits and conferences are not being streamed live anymore. Use to be able to listen to some of the speakers at the conference but now you have to travel and pay for a ticket. Just shows how many social media sites are now not showing love stream events.

The Next-Generation Ascension Platform

TravelCash is the first cryptocurrency to trade exclusively on the Ascension platform. The Ascension Foundation's technologies are second generation cryptocurrencies that use a highly secure hybrid of blockchain and off-blockchain fintech to provide a feature-rich environment for payments, atomic swaps, p2p exchanges, and private in-wallet marketplaces. These technologies were fully developed by 2011 and have been operational with multi-currency support since 2013.

TravelCash Wallet for Mobile Devices

A TravelCash app is being developed with many of the features of the desktop/laptop wallet, but is meant for the busy traveler on the go. A safe but simplified login procedure means it’s easy to use while at ski resorts, beach resorts, on cruises, or anywhere that a traveler wants to bring their cell phone and leave their worries behind. The app provides for a quick and easy "request money" system that lets a merchant or individual request funds to be sent to a particular wallet address. The app generates a QR code for that transaction, which, when scanned by a TravelCash app will populate the "send payment" form in the app. The traveler then hits "confirm payment" and the transaction is sent with receipts going within the app to each party involved in the transaction. We recommend that holders of TravelCash retain all receipts for their records and for tax purposes. Also, we recommend holders of TravelCash treat it like traditional cash and, for their safety, never carry more in their mobile wallet than they think they will need while traveling. The Android app is expected to be complete by mid-June 2018 and an iOS version is expected to be completed by mid-July 2018. Once these apps are complete, they will also serve as point-of-sale devices for merchants and consumers.

Financial Information

In an effort to sustain the long-term health and growth of our business, TravelCash has imposed the following lock up stipulations.

The company’s founders, directors, officers, employees, and other insiders shall be restricted from selling, exchanging, and/or trading his/her vouchers until such transfers are allowed under United States federal and state securities law, which is generally one year following such individual’s acquisition of any vouchers.

TravelCash Tokenomics

TravelCash will create a total of 1,000,000,000 (one billion) vouchers, with an initial release of up to 200,000,000 during the pre-IVO (initial voucher offering) and the IVO phases.  Our goal is to raise up to $11.7 million USD in the pre-IVO and up to $131.3 million USD during the IVO.

8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin & College students . on: May 23, 2018, 05:02:55 PM
I believe that a huge portion of the the crypto community are still young college students that don't have any necessities that need another source of income aside from their scholarships / the money they are getting from their parents .
And apart from spending their cryptos on either betting or purchasing goods/video games from online markets , many of these students didn't make plans for what they'll do with their coins in the future.
I myself have had many thoughts about hodling and launching a business as soon as i graduate with the coins in my possession , yet i'm not exactly sure what i'll be doing ..
So i'm really curious about :
- On what do you spend your coins apart than partying/gambling/paying for tuition loans ?
- Do you have any future plans for your coins if you are hodling any ?

Well what about students traveling abroad, lots of students go over seas to help third world countries or going on vacation during spring or winter break. Why wouldn't students get into bitcoin?.
