1  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] Sapphire 5830 and Semp140 Bundle (CAN/US) on: March 22, 2012, 05:10:12 PM
I've got some Sapphire HD 5830 Xtreme cards for sale that have been hashing away ~ 290MH and has never been above 80 deg C.

$xx each shipped and +$x for shipping to the US.

First three cards sold will come with a 16x-16x cable (sorry, I have no 1x-16x available!)

I've also got a Sempron 140 + MSI 790FX-GD70 + 2GB G.Skill RAM (1 DIMM) available, and I'm looking for something around $150 shipped for that.

I have no feedback related to this ID, so of course I am willing to do some kind of escrow service at my expense.

If you are looking to purchase more than one item, let me know and I'll see what I can do about shipping.

Located in Toronto, Canada.

Cheers,
woo

Anyone else's earnings for those lucky blocks really low? (A little more than half)

No, I wasn't playing BF3, and my shares/total shares ratio was unchanged.

my stale rate went up the last days from 0.4% to 2%.
mine did as well. i'm curious, which server are you using?

I am getting the same thing, from server2: ~0.5% to 2.0-2.3%
It happened just before or around the difficulty decrease.

Moved over from Slush because I got tired of seeing 5 and 10 million share blocks repeatedly.  Looks like I made the top 30 - once I see how much stable it is I'll be happy to donate at least 0.5%.  Just can't figure out why my stale rate is 3.5% using GUIMiner 8-24 OpenCL  Huh

I don't think it's GUIMiner or the pool.  I've been using both for mining forever and my stales with the pool average around .5%.  Make sure you have the latest version of GUIMiner, but either the OpenCL or Phoenix miner should work fine.  Gotta be something on your side with your setup.  You using a wireless NIC or something?
Up until I moved to Ars, I used GUIMiner with Phoenix (and the updated kernels) religiously with low stales, <0.5%. I had to switch to CGMiner because that setup was giving me around 1.6% stales at Ars.  Undecided

Well Atlas, where i come from people sell facebook fan pages and alikes like hot cakes and i don't see anything wrong with that.
People must be rewarded, if not for more, at least for the time dedicated to it.
I guess some people prefer those guys who try to trademark Bitcoin, never contributing a single bit to it Wink
I agree with making money off facebook fan pages - there are lots of crud that admin's need to delete, moderate and etc.
Reddit is different though. Users submit their own content. Users vote and weed through submissions. Users make and vote for witty comments.
Subreddit mods usually just weed through the spam filter and implement changes in css - not a difficult task, especially for a small subreddit.

It's called the reddit community for a reason.

I think the price will dip to a more stable value first before being adopted. It's too risky for businesses to deal with the lack of stability.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What specs did you start with? on: July 19, 2011, 07:01:07 PM
Started with 2 5830's on my gaming rig, and then reorganized when I bought more cards for my mining rig.

I wish I could have put my i7 to good use a year ago Sad

Pools just use an algorithm to guess your hash speed based on the amount of submitted shares.

Add a little variance (as is normal), and you get obscure estimated hash speeds.
9  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How do I get 245 Mhash out of my 5830? on: June 12, 2011, 01:14:27 AM
I'd call "virtually no overclocking" 850MHz core. You'd probably net around 250MH or so.

"Virtually no overclocking" either means "No voltage increase" or there's some derp BS in this thread.

I heard people saying you need 1 cpu core per GPU to maximize the GPU power. Can anyone confirm this? if that was true, then you'll need a quad core CPU for 4 x GPU, and 6 core CPU for 5 x GPU
Definitely not true.
