1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I bought a million Dogecoins on: December 21, 2013, 05:36:33 AM
When the bottom falls out on Doggy coin, lots of people will be stuck with a funny lil meme and not much else.
The community built around Dogecoin is so massive, I actually think it may have a shot. Unlike Bitcoin or even Litecoin, where the community is all about utility, ideology, and other boring shit, I think Dogecoin has created an appealing community centered around a fun atmosphere which can be found at pretty much every website supporting the coin. I'm not so sure it'll simply be abandoned one day.

-Or maybe the marketing's just starting to get to me. The dog's pretty darn cute.

I agree wholeheartedly. Dogecoin is the whole reason I actually got into mining. I knew about bitcoins and others, but never had a real reason to go and try mining them myself. With Dogecoins, it's all about fun and less about profit. I mean, I wouldn't mind a bit of profit, but that wasn't the reason I got started with it.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogecoin Pool doge.scryptpools.com - 2% fee on: December 21, 2013, 05:24:27 AM
that's $7000+ a day in power consumption alone.

Oh my doge. That's insane

I've been using scryptpools for a few days now. The website doesn't work for me 24/7, but other than the website downtime this pool is fantastic.

You might want to wait until you get a new GPU. You won't be getting squat with that old thing.

Hey,

I'd like to get into the conversation about WorldCoins. I'm new to this whole scene and am heavily looking into mining. I currently have 3 rigs that can be used for mining, but as I get further into my research I'll be swapping out parts to suit what's best for mining. I have 2 1/2 hours logged right now, but if I could get added early it'd make my day.

Thanks for hosting such a great forum!
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your KH/S, MH/S or TH/S, power consumption and electricity bills? on: December 20, 2013, 07:51:44 PM
I have the following rigs:

1) 4x7950 MSi TF3 @ 2,528 kh/s @ 900w
2) 4x7950 MSi TF3 @ 2,528 kh/s @ 950w
3) 3x7950 GB WF3 + MSi TF3 @ 2,064kh/s  @ 900w (Gigabyte cards use more power than the MSi cards)
4) 4x7970 Sapphire Dual-X @ 2,880 kh/s @ 1200w
5) 2x7950 GB WF3 @ 1,260 kh/s @ 550w
6) 2x6850 GB WF @ 500 kh/s @ 300w

That's 11760 kh/s @ 4800 watts.

Cost wise, i'll let you know when i get bill shock. I'm estimating around around $3,500 - $4,000 every quarterly bill. That is JUST for powering the rigs. That doesn't even take into consideration aircon and fans, internet and other things needs to keep them online.

Much wow. That's insane! What're you mining with them?

Welcome here, are you planning to mine bitcoin or other altcoins with your PCes?

Most-likely altcoins, then trading them over for bitcoins as it's more profitable.
What altcoins you planning to mine? Maybe dogecoin? And what'll you use for mining, cpu or graphic cards?

I'm currently mining dogecoin, but I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to stick with it for the long run. DogeCoin's looking like a fad that won't stick around. The other altcoin I'm looking into is WorldCoin. That looks pretty promising and is fairly new so I can stock up on at least a few before it gets too terrible to mine. I'm using GPU to mine. The main miner I have going at all times is a geforce 560 ti. The PC I'm currently using that I mine with while AFK is a geforce 660 ti.

You need your "Total time logged in:" at the top of the page to be past 4 hours.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good evening on: December 20, 2013, 06:21:28 PM
I recommend www.doge.scryptpools.com

I've been using them for a week or so. They've recently gone invite only, but as long as you're at least 1 MH/s, then you're allowed in.

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2000$ to invest, right now? on: December 20, 2013, 06:05:39 PM
If I were you, I wouldn't mind bitcoin. I'd mine either dogecoin or worldcoin. Both of those are new and seem decently promising for price increase in the future.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DogeCoins on: December 20, 2013, 05:57:34 PM
I believe it will go up to 0.10$ in the next month of 2014

Yeah, I don't think it'll go up that high in a very long time, if ever. With my crappy system I can get around 3,000 a day. I'm not so sure in a month it'll become that rare.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie post on: December 20, 2013, 05:50:24 PM
Currently I'm joining the fad and mining DogeCoins. I'm not doing it as much for profit currently, but just experimenting and learning how it all works.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DogeCoins on: December 20, 2013, 05:43:14 PM
I'm not so sure it'll stay popular for too long, but for right now it's a fun currency to mess around with.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: identifying the next dogecoin on: December 20, 2013, 05:19:24 PM
I'm very happy dogecoin came around. I've always known about bitcoins and how it works, but never have I been inclined to mine them myself. With dogecoins, it's more about fun rather than money. Now that DogeCoin has started me mining, I'm going to keep with it and keep mining past dogecoin's fame. I think dogecoin has invited a lot of new people to mining cryptocurrencies and it seems a lot less intimidating for people.

Hey, I'm new here! I've just gotten started into mining (yes, very late to the party). I currently have 3 PCs set up mining right now, but they're definitely not optimized for mining whatsoever atm.
