1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The continuous rising compare to USD isn't good for BTC on: June 09, 2011, 05:28:14 AM
The problem isn't inflation or deflation of the currency, it's people thinking they "overpayed 6x" because the thing they traded has appreciated in value.  The only valuation that matters is the one at the time of the trade.

Yes, I agree. But is I don't think a lot of people think the same about it.
But well that is the human greed, i guess.

in 1959 i paid 21 cents for a quart of milk.  and about the same for a gallon of gas.  perhaps i regret not buying more at the time?  in a sense.  just like today, when gas went from $3.69 to $3.79, i regret only having filled my tank half-way, yesterday.
Yes, but the timespan in which BTC deflates (?) is like 20% a day. Thats what I think is stopping people from trading BTC for goods.
Sure, there is a lot of trading and speculating with BTC on mt. gox and trading hill, but I don't think those people want to contribute to BTC as a currency but just as a way to make a quick buck.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The continuous rising compare to USD isn't good for BTC on: June 09, 2011, 04:36:24 AM
Just about 1 month ago i spend 7BTC on something that was worth about $35.
Now I want to contribute and support the bitcoin, but now I have this product which I essentially over payed for.
Since it is now 6 times more worth.

So people just hoard their coins, and newcomers also begin hoarding and everybody is like, what to do what to do,
AH a nice trust fund.

Isn't this a bad thing for new people who start to beginning bitcoin.
Sure inflation/deflation is normal in every currency, but I don't think this really works in the advantage of bitcoin.

Yeah, everybody is excited it keeps on rising so they can make money of it.
But to make money of it you have to sell your bitcoins. Which means you don't have them anymore.
If bitcoin stabilizes around $100 and stays that way for half a year and not suddenly plumets to $1000, we have a good thing going
else people are just mad they bought apaca socks for $10 one day while the next day what they had in Bitcoins is worth $100.
They keep you warm sure, but at what price.

Your thoughts? Am I wrong?

You could just as well use a pastebin, and set up a short URL with the bitcoin address. Less likely to go down than some random dude's LAMP server. Wink

Proof of concept: http://dft.ba/-18WdSNcMBGfwUH3EwMaL7K678CVrJo5Vqd

That is true, bit a system like this works when everybody knows where to find it, that's what I'm trying to create.
That's the whole concept idea, just plant an idea to see if people like it and then develop it further.

Would it not be better to put a message with the other person's receive address, as I believe you can't always tell what the send address is going to be?

Correct me if I'm wrong.
That probably is true, I also thought of that, can already be used it that way, and I think it should indeed.

Thanks for your offer, if you have any suggestions i would like to hear them.
For the developing part I'm fine for now, made this in 15 minutes just as a concept (not intended to be offensive) .
Minor bugfix if a btcaddr was set in the addressbar the post would not submit.

I like your idea, maybe this could be collaborated with my project http://btcmsg.com
Or you can steal my idea, but that would not be nice :-)

[stopped]

Hello,

After reading for a while now on this board i got an idea.
It is still an concept but I thought I would share this here to see if there is any demand for it.
For now i am planning to keep this service free and work on donations.

The idea
Post your bitcoinaddress with a message
People receiving your transfer can go to the website and enter the bitcoinaddress
If the user left a message it will show up
Example:

Also the timestamp is in GMT +2 since my server is located there.
(That would be an improvement to give the UTC time, or no time at all)
That is my bitcoinaddress and there are a couple of messages posted.

What do you guys think?
It is still in a very early phase, but if there is demand I could expand the service.

Regards

Qworty
