1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Doge] Blackjack with Dogecoin (and few other games) coming Soon™ on: December 21, 2013, 08:35:36 PM
(Cross posted to Reddit and
Dogecoin Forum and dailydogecoin.com/pound/)

Dusting off some code from a couple years ago for my wife's website. Rather than use her game world's currency she loves the idea of using Dogecoin. One of the first games (due to reading about quite a bit of interest in it) is Blackjack.

Going to be built for play in her world and externally. Building it with an accessible external API for game tables and games independent of each other. This means that, if all goes as planned, you can play blackjack with us OR just use our blackjack backend for your own blackjack OR play existing games on our tables (assuming that game has a House/Computer v Player, H/C v Player(s), or Player v Player relationships.)

Looking for any information that relate to cryptocurrencies that people recommend. Firm believer in not reinventing the wheel. Would rather spend my time studying existing code to make sure its safe than trying to code everything from scratch. Any known codes for bots, sites/videos/posts that do admirable jobs of explaining any aspect of these ideas, or just fascinating topics. I want it all. I don't want to leave anything out.

My current plan is to build the platform, from backend to what we use on the front, on google app engine. If I don't feel it fits the direction I will change the plan. Having as much information as I can will make such decisions easier.
So please share anything you think might help me get this going even faster.

Questions? Comments? Smart Remarks?

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEW Miners Only: Post Your Rig Specs on: December 20, 2013, 04:34:43 PM
Currently just running cpu on downtime for dogecoin.  Have a few systems I could set up, most the desktops have rather archaic and antiquated gpu's, do you think it would be worth the effort?  Haven't really kept up in the cryptocurrency madness to know what a bottomline for being worth the effort would be?

CPU: Intel Celeron B820 1.7Ghz
Hashrate: ~7kh/s in minerd

There are a few giveaways I would like to participate in.  More than willing to wait the 4 hours but figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
( Living on laptop with no GPU at the moment means my mining or digging in my current case of interest, is rather limited. )

Howdy,

Best advice I can give, no matter the currency, keep track of your wallet.  You may realize one day that your comical coin, no matter the amount, maybe worth something and find yourself feeling rather foolish for the lack of care.  Beyond that I am also here to see what others have to say!

The memespeak aspect aside, I have already found its easier to explain this to others using its terminology.

Been trying to get my wife to help me find my old bitcoin wallet info on an old harddrive for months.  Used this to explain cryptocurrency, set up "digging" for her on her computer and showed her how she can check everything its doing and less than 12 hours later she busts out with a box of harddrives that I haven't seen for a couple years.  "Hope this helps."

If I find the wallet information I will have Dogecoin, in its derpy glory, to thank for it.

From what I can tell (From someone who saw much of the sillier side of bitcoin early on) the lack of seriousness and almost 'play money' sense is making it easier for people to get friends and family in on the madness.  Reddit and the madness of tipping, tipping high profile redditors to get them in on the shenanigans, and one of the tip bots awarding some dogecoin based on an accounts Karma score (the meaningless points of reddit given meaning) have undoubtedly helped.
