For the counterparty + dump risk, margin lending interest rates don't make any sense.

You don't actually have to exert some effort responding to this man. This man is trying to bait some Bitcoin holders to sell their bitcoins. Those who have weak hands might have responded to it. And the next move of this man is to acquire more and more BTC in his portfolio.

Agree. FUD and accumulate.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people left their full-time employment to go into Bitcoin? on: September 25, 2017, 03:38:35 AM
As of now I don't want to leave my job just to go into Bitcoin.

I enjoy my job right now same as how I enjoy bitcoin. Part of my salary goes into the bitcoin and having profit in bitcoin gives me more money aside from my job.

As long as I enjoy both of them there no reason for me to leave.  Grin

Few people are lucky enough to be able to truly say that  Smiley

I'm most impressed by how Satoshi's original vision has worked so well, close to its original form.

For instance, I think if Satoshi had not implemented block halvening, bitcoin could lead to environmental catastrophe, much like the thought experiment of a superpowerful AI being programmed to make as many paperclips as possible would destroy the world.  Block halvening kinda means that the world will never destroyed in order to create energy to mint money.

This is one of the many examples of immense foresight.

My hope is that blockchain driven capital raising can disrupt VC, private equity and IPO level investment banking, totally castrating the ability of these ticketclippers to make any money.  Sure, ICO's are scammy as hell at the moment, but if you can still raise more capital for less equity/tokens/whatever in the ICO market, companies will move in this direction.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is it better to invest in bitcoin or ethereum ? on: September 25, 2017, 02:40:49 AM
Hedge your bets.  Killer app at present for ethereum is ICOs.  Bitcoin is the original.  Also good to consider having small holdings of new, serious currencies. Monero/Zcash/tezos when it drops.

There were lots of warning signs prior to this ICO.

Binary options platforms are notoriously scammy.

Company had previous runins with Israeli securities regulators.

Caveat emptor.

Out of interest, how have people found things since segwit activation?

I've noticed that fees seem a lot lower and things seem to happen faster?

I think to some extent the big block crew are correct.  Ethereum works great with quick blocktimes mostly, other than during ICO peak periods, which bitcoin doesn't really have.

ZCash - although the ongoing founder reward really puts me off buying it, as well as the fact that there are still a LOT of coins to be mined
Tezos - really interesting ideas and a strong team - will be interesting to see where this goes
PIVX - cool governance stuff inbuilt as well
IOTA - i don't understand DAG, but i'm getting more into it!
