Angry

Hey everyone, i am new to this forum. Out of 6, one of my vega 64, when installed BC driver and after running PP registry, went full throttle on fan speed, and windows error shows up showing gpu temp overload and my system hangs. Its just with one card, no matter what i do, on normal driver it works fine, but on BC driver its creating this problem. Is my GPU faulty, should i return it ?. Please help

hey, I have same issue but I don't know how to check which one of my cards causes trouble.

How do I check it? some logs etc? I'm using Win10.

Watch the cards while loading windows. You will see which one is making the problem and you can go from there.

Also to try to identify the poorly running card leave it out of the batch file and once you find that the card that was preforming poorly is NOT hashing look in the case and check for the fan leds and the one that's not under load is that card.    Let me know if you need me to step by step that or clarify my language a little.

Ok, so I downloaded and made my Devcon folder with the text batch file provided online.  It does indeed disable and re-enable my cards.  Now this batch file will do this automatically every time the hash rate drops correct?

Another issue before even calling that a success though... once I run the devcon file it resets everything, but then in cast-xmr the vega's don't get renabled.  They just show they are getting 0/hs.  Do I need another batch file or something to have cast-xmr restart or re-detect the cards?

Code:
timeout /t 3
devcon.exe disable "*687F"
timeout /t 3
devcon.exe enable "*687F"
timeout /t 3

this will disable and re enable all vegas only

Yes, that's the code and it works.  However, this does nothing for the miner itself correct?  So, I still have to be physically present to run this batch and restart castxmr when the hashrate drops.  It needs to restart the miner as well for it to work.

Excuse me for being a newbie, I am pretty tech and hardware literate, but when it comes to creating batch files and software coding I've had practically no exposure beyond some basic HTML for websites.

I found this:   https://pastebin.com/Q0rGa0QS

I think that's a complete batch file that I'm looking for, but I'm still trying to figure out how to properly edit it to function completely automatically with castxmr.   It's set up to run with xmrstak.

I got it to work and it starts castxmr, but it doesn't load my payment address when it starts and it also doesn't restart on it's own when the hash falls.

I'm pretty sure that there is no way for anything to monitor the hashrate and force run of this reset script.   You might be able to setup alerting when the api shows rates get under a certain level, but I don't see how you could automated it without initiating the request manually.     as for the script not loading your payment address it's got to do with the config file it's calling and not finding it.

*EDIT*

I was wrong about monitoring the hashdrop..  check this guide..  https://vegamining.blogspot.com/

using cast xmr sometime now, so far so freakin good ! got free electricity so i follows gandalph guide for 2050h/s (running 56's) at -10% 990 ram and +13% power. anyone managed to find a sweet spot for bigger gains but higher power draw? experimented many many settings but with no luck... best of is 10mins at 2110h/s but it crashed or pixels screen

Is that with the 56's running the 64 bios?   It wasn't clear to me if that was factored in at all.

How do you guys getting 750 or even 800 h/s with RX580 for XMR?
Tried CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v10.2 with 17.11.1 drivers can't get over 350
The best results I can squeeze from it is 606 h/s on Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.5 Beta

Thanks.
Gotta flush that BIOS if you want to touch 700-800

Do you mean GPU BIOS?

What kind of cards do you have?   There are tons of guides out there that detail it step by step and also provide pre-modified bios files.   IE for my cards...

Is anyone here running their Vegas on one 8 pin PCIe cable split into 2 6+2 connectors? I know daisy chaining can be bad but the cables that came with the PSU ( Corsair hx1000 ) are heavy duty compared to other PCIe cables with only one 6+2 connection.

I am running mine at the  2x8pin (technically 8 + 6+2pin)  cables that came with my corsairs. don't you have enough of these? with the rm1000x there are 4 of these per psu.

Yeah I have 4x 8pin to 2x6+2pin. Up till now I've only been running 2 Vegas from the PSU using two cables per Vega. Just read a lot of horror stories regarding daisy chaining PCIe cables, although most of this is people using the splitters. I didn't find much info on wether it was safe to use one PCIe cable for each vega

I tried running a 56 off a splitter, seemed to work fine but it was just one.  Next I will try two 56s off the same cable.  Corsair CX750M.  I am mining CryptoNight though, not EthHash, which is very gentle on power compared to EthHash.

I wouldnt run two Vegas on one 8pin cord from the PSU.  Your options are either two risers or both plugs on one GPU.

I really don't think trying to run two cards that should be pulling roughly 300w from a pcie 8-2 (rated at 150w, and the two PCIE slots at 75w each is going to net you a good result.)  I mean i get that the math slightly tracks.. it's just a lot of stress instead of getting 2 psu's or a properly sized one with the right connectors..    for me mining is about uptime availability and consistency.   if this is just a lab based test then godspeed.. but i'd be careful Smiley

Sorry if I misunderstood your intent Smiley
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: September 26, 2017, 10:58:15 PM
Been mining for a month with no problems, see that last night my miner stopped mining. Reboot the PC and open Claymores miner again and the window instantly closes. Anyone experienced this before or knows what's causing it?

Check and see if win10 updated your drivers..  that's a nasty gotcha...    still i say reinstall them either way.

They also skim hashes and eat babies.

I never knew about the hash skimming... Smiley
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PTOY might be scam on: September 13, 2017, 02:16:14 PM
So do you guys still think PTOY is a scam?   I think it's got real dev going on and actually has a real world application..  I mean all these people being effected by hurricanes and earth quakes..    and that's only gonna get worse..

I think being skeptical and objective is important but also realizing that not everything is a scam is healthy too.

Full disclosure I do own some ptoy but under .1 btc.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 electrical setup help on: September 13, 2017, 02:01:07 PM
Nevermind, I spoke with my uncle and I think I know how I will do most of the setup. A last question though, what does the plug that bitmain sends with their APW3+ power supply look like? I'm trying to make sure I buy the right outlet. Is it the one with one of the terminals turned sideways? Because I think I'm going to add about 4 220 volt outlets and each of them will have their own wiring and breaker at the breaker box. The other 4 I think will go to another location. Thanks for the input!

Does anyone use the miners to heat their home? If so which way did you do it? Also, what would be the suggested way to vent the hot air to the outside in the summer? I can hook up a vent to go to the outside through the wall and use dryer vent.

I think you should also consider adding a renewable power source to your build if you're still going for it.

Are you still pursuing this?   I also am stuck with electric power so might as well have my heaters making money for me in the winter too Smiley
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 electrical setup help on: August 09, 2017, 05:49:35 PM
You will need to run things at 220 to get the proper power out of the PSUs. These machines pull 1200w each so you will need to upgrade your electrical if you are running them at home. You are looking at 10k watts in total which is a lot of power to run in a home. Also you will need some major cooling if you are planning on keeping these in one bedroom.

Also remember its not about the number of plugs in the room its about the number  of circuits. Most houses have multiple outlets off of the same breaker so you need to plan accordingly.

I'd also be concerned about the quality of the power and also your ability to cool these devices properly.

Honestly with that much of an investment I'd consider going with a co-location..   JUST to protect the investment.. also if the technical aspect of environmentals isn't in your wheel house it might be the best overall for up time and reliability.

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "BITMAIN Order Shipped" - Happy early birthday to me! :) Activity at Bitmain... on: August 08, 2017, 07:40:12 PM
Now that bitmain has a facility in California maybe they are able to ship small batch orders stateside now?

Sounds reasonable, but this batch is coming from China based on the tracking.  "Shenzhen,  China"

Don't get your hopes up on 2 days. Often times it gets delayed because it has to go through an export process to get out of china and an import process to get in the USA. If your shipment get picked for extra screening, expect your package to be delayed even further. As long as your package isn't selected for screening, you should get it within 5 business days. At least that's what experience I've had living in the southeast.

Thank you for helping me temper my excitement!  Smiley  (However, I still will have the slots and power supplies ready, just in case)   I'll keep tracking and let you know.

Who else will be up in the early AM to buy a D3?  (or can we not talk about those here?)

When do the D3's go on sale?

The price is still pumping. Let us wait and see what happened on the 26th June 2017. We are there already. We can not speculate it to be a scam just yet.
Whats gonna happen on June 26? Bounty?

Bounties will be distributed on June 26, after the crowdsale.

Has anyone had any luck getting the B15 build compiled on windows 7 64? I did see a build a few pages back, but it dies after about 15 shares..     Also I am curious of which version of the miner people with Xeon Chipsets such as the E5-2650 CPU.    One one of my workstations I'm getting around 65 3 ch/s  3.9  4 ch/s but the other is 75 3ch/s and 5.5 ch/s etc..   any thoughts?

Thank you!

no one bothered to compile using Cygwin (64bits edition)? It should work ..

Good point..  I will try to do it right now.. wish me luck, because I will need it.  Grin

Great way of handling it..  My question is what is being done to find and stop these people from knocking over the next exchange?
