1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcement about Monero Hardfork on April 6th on: April 06, 2018, 10:29:53 PM
What will be the advantages of Monero classic over Monero? What's the purpose to keep ASIC mining available? In order to increase the centralization?
Looks like someone ordered a batch of ASICs and want to make a new coin so as to be able to get their money back or make some easy money.

Whether or not there is any "advantage" is moot. Monero Classic is simply the result of ASIC miners continuing to mine the blockchain while everyone else moves with the hard fork. That is how forks naturally happen. Nobody can stop that, and there isn't any way to stop ASIC miners from mining. The blockchain just splits in 2, with the upgraded network, wallets, and mining software retaining the name Monero.

Has anyone tried this? I am wondering if there are any potential issues I should look out for.
