is cryptonight GPU out yet?

Looks like around when you made this post, it swapped over.

For a couple of days I've been trying to restore wallet from seed phrase. I installed gui wallet and waited till it downloaded the whole blockchain. Now I paste seed and wait, wait, wait... The wallet doesn't seem to use cpu or disk, and after several hours of waiting it's still processing block #0.
Tried to close it and restart - no effect. Also tried lite wallet - and it's also stuck on block #0. What else can be done?

Are you also running the Sumokoin wallet?  I'm not sure this applies anymore, but they used to fight over the same port, causing the other to appear to hang during sync

Block time is only designed to average every 10 minutes.

Block time is designed to average 240 seconds or 4 minutes, not 10 minutes.

Apologies -- you are correct, it is idealized to 4 minutes.  The rest of my logic still holds, however.  I do remember a few block times of around an hour due to difficulty spikes back when original Sumo was still on CN -- ASICs would join, snap up some blocks, then leave.  This lead to the difficulty spiking, and with the now-reduced hasrate, it took a long time for the rest of the network to find the next 1-2 blocks (at which point the difficulty would correct). This "situation" lead to the fork to CN-Heavy.  +10 minutes, tho not ideal, isn't near as bad as +60 minutes.

Whats happening to block time? 15 minutes https://prnt.sc/kcgqdg

Block time is only designed to average every 10 minutes.  If difficulty spikes, a few blocks will be quicker.  As difficulty drops, a few blocks will be longer.  That's just the lag inherent in the difficulty calculation, to keep wild swings in check.

At present, it's trending upward, with some noticeable dips along the way -- so some block times will be greater than 10 minutes, and some less than.

Sumo pool on Ryo topic, nice try Roll Eyes

They just never updated their url from before the split -- still using CN-Heavy, so it's a Ryo pool.

I mined Sumo for a while months ago and the Sumo wallet isn't synching.  I'm trying Sumo seed in the latest Ryo GUI.  Just started synching, but I am wondering if I need to use the old Sumo wallet backup file in the Ryo wallet?  I put Ryo GUI wallet on a different pc from the Sumo wallet.

You just need the seed words you got from your old Sumo wallet

If I used my Sumo coin wallet address pre Ryo Fork can it still accept Ryo or do I need to set up a new wallet address?

At present (and, for code reasons, probably forever) you can use your Sumo address to accept Ryo.  I still am -- too lazy to change to a new address.

Hi,
Maybe a little bit stupid question...
If I will use my Sumo Seed words to restore the RYO wallet, I will have both Sumo and RYO coins?
Or my SUMO coins will disappear in this case?

You get both (checked that for myself last night).  I will say, running both GUI wallets at the same time causes whichever you launch second to not work properly (if you launch Sumokoin GUI wallet, then Ryo GUI wallet, Ryo wallet hangs; launch Ryo before Sumo, and Sumo hangs).  Long-and-short:  It's a minor bug (both wallets are trying to use the same rpc port) that both parties should resolve soon (*nudge* *nudge*).

Now, why is SumoGUIWallet feeling the need to access 007guard.com?

Edit: False alarm. Was an issue w/ my hosts file & reverse lookup.

I am having an issue where the sync is not progressing past block 137511 for some reason.

what is happening?
Now there are Sumo and there is RYO ?
what happened to the team?

They all got crazy, went back to old cryptonight algo that is not ASIC resistant, banned everyone from telegram and stopped any communication.
Ryo is fork following the cryptonight_heavy algo maintained by fireice_uk.

I guess they will delete the message anyway, but maybe good info for someone who jumps here just occasionally till it gets deleted.

Should add: Everyone from old dev team but Vu resigned as a result of this mess.

So:
Vu is running Sumokoin (returning to old CN).
Fireice & Psychocrypt are running Ryo (staying on CN-Heavy)

Hi guys, I'm having hard time trying to synchronize the new ryo wallet. Since fork happened, I don't see new coins in my wallet that I mined after the block 137500. It seems like synchronizing is stuck, it takes really long time to fully sync and actually never reaches fully synchronized state. Same happens with sumokoin wallet. Also, when I try to find tx hash in explorer, can't find any transaction after the block 137500. Does anyone had this kind of problem or maybe someone knows what could be solution?

I believe it was noted to expect the sync to be slow after the fork, as not everyone has nodes online w/ the new codebase.  I know I've been too busy to update my own node. /sheepish

Hi, I don't understand about this fork. I have some sumokoin and I used windows gui wallet. Do I now have both sumo and ryo currency or I have to decide for one of them? I will download new wallets both of them and use my old seed words for ryo. What happens next, will I still have sumo on the old chain?
same question, who can give more information ?

can i use 2 wallets of RYO and SUMO or one of them ?

As of the fork at 137500, you now have both.  You'd need to download the wallet for each, restore the wallet from your seed words, etc., just like if you were setting up a new computer.

I've heard that at some point, the Ryo codebase will start generating Ryo-prefixed addresses (it would be silly if it didn't eventually), but the current/legacy Sumo-prefixed ones will continue to be supported for some time (probably forever, in all practicality).

Tradeogre will stick w/ ASIC friendly chain >> https://twitter.com/TradeOgre/status/1003518060295147520

Reading the entire tweet, they're supporting both Ryo & Sumo.  And checking their site, they list both coins separately.

Apparently Sumo are 17 blocks ahead of ch-heavy chain, exchanges will problaly remain on most accumulated chain.

I expect the exchanges that don't drop Sumo/Ryo will treat it as any other coin fork, w/ Sumo being the CN fork, and Ryo being the CN-Heavy fork.  FWIW, that's how I read TradeOgre's statement on the matter.

fairpool shows 4.77 MH as network, is it CNheavy/RYO? im confused now.. are the ASICs in game or not or what the fork is happening now.. somebody/anybody to clarify?

CN-Heavy (Ryo).  They announced the result of their vote around 12 hours ago, as best I can tell.

I know this is obvious, but it needs to be said. The dev team is spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt right now. It is in their interest to improve on this.

Wanted to single this out, as it's quite important, and bears repeating: Even if the goal of the devs is to pump & dump this coin, they (either camp) are gaining nothing by having this strife continue.  The old dev team's actions just compound confusion on top of that strife -- which strikes me as more of an emotional knee-jerk reaction, rather than some well-reasoned strategy.  Cutting off your nose to spite your face, as it were.  To my knowledge, they are under no financial burden by using CN-Heavy (no license or royalties), and this really would only serve to anger exchanges -- hard forks generally seem to require more effort on the part of exchanges compared to soft forks.  It seems reasonable that short notice would only compound this issue.

Cryptopia is going to "protect my balance" by not letting me withdraw it to myself?  That's bullshit.  Not acceptable.

More, based on how little time there is before this fork happens (and the lack of specific details involved), there's no guarantee that if they do remit your coins, that that transaction would be fully confirmed/honored by both chains.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SUMO] SUMOKOIN - 🔏 Digital Cash For Highly-Confidential Transactions 🔏 on: June 02, 2018, 08:23:21 AM
Cryptopia:

Unfortunately we are unable to accept your deposit at this time.

Reason: 02/06/2018: Cryptopia is very disappointed at the behaviour of the various parties in the SUMO/RYO debate and how they have sprung this on us without notice. We have had zero time to evaluate the situation. To protect all funds of our users, we will be pausing all markets/wallets until the dust settles. We will re-evaluate and decide which chain or chains we will allow users to withdraw on.

Admittedly, that seems like a fair & measured response from Cryptopia

So what's next?

What will happen now? Old dev forks ?

As a coder: I suspect fireice will be going over the codebase with a fine-toothed comb, then announcing a decision/strong opinion on what to do next.

That's just my opinion, not affiliated w/ Ryo's dev team.

I want to share some news with you guys if somebody doesn’t follow Sumokoin on Telegram, they announced today:

Quote
Hello community

We have exciting news for you: the core-team decided to rebrand Sumokoin. We just started the rebranding process and have a lot of work ahead of us.

We've already picked a new name (which will be announced soon) and we also have an idea for a new logo. Since we know there are a lot of talented designers among our community, we'd love to ask for your help to finalize our idea: We are going to run a design-contest for a new logo!

I'll admit, I'm not  in favor of changing the name (and potentially creating confusion), but I see the practicality of picking something that more succinctly represents the methods & goals of the coin.
