1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LEAKED MT. GOX ACCOUNT DATABASE (CSV FILE) on: June 19, 2011, 10:54:13 PM
Does anyone know where i can find a program that encrypts a string using the same method as Mt. Gox did? I genuinely cant remember what password i used on Mt Gox (never actually traded on it) but i know its one of several i can remember, so i want to do trial and error to check which one it is Tongue thanks.
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~1300 gH/sec] on: June 11, 2011, 03:53:24 PM
Weird earned statistics:

475   130056    2011-06-11 15:03:10    0:31:12 duration    47 my shares 0.00550424 earned. This would be 107Mh/s for me during this round.

That makes like 1.5 shares per minute, I had a look at poclbm and I wasn't able to find this slowdown within 2hours. I have 2x 6950 doing at ~670Mh/s total.

Previously I also got this kind of round:

464   129962    2011-06-11 05:38:38    0:40:54 duration   1117   my shares 0.04807224 earned. 1955Mh/s over 40mins...

So there's something weird going on..

This happened to me too, i submitted 5 shares and none of them got counted, and weren't counted as stale either :S i changed to the eu server and it had the same problem, so i tried the UK one and it fixed it Smiley wierd problem though.
3  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Cheat-proof, Inst/Auto Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource) on: June 09, 2011, 09:22:38 PM
so wait if another group solves the block first we dont get paid??
Your shares are still counted toward our winning block!

Ah right ok, so on a pool like deepbit or swepool, which pay you as you go, if they dont win that block the pool owner has effectively lost that money until they win one?
4  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Cheat-proof, Inst/Auto Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource) on: June 09, 2011, 08:53:01 PM
No! We all "race" to find the block. The same block!

So say if a member of Deepbit or BTCGuild found the soution to the current block, we wouldn't get paid anything?
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Cheat-proof, Inst/Auto Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource) on: June 09, 2011, 08:34:43 PM
Just wanted to say how much I like this pool and appreciate all the hard work you're putting in for us Simplecoin.

To implement the cheat-proof scoring, even though you're taking a loss by doing so, is pretty fantastic. Also all the crazy math you've had to do over there to put it in place can't be too fun. So thanks for all that.

One quick question - when we find a block, will it be posted on the website before it matures? Or only after it's matured do we see that we found one?

It should show up in stats with the confirmations.

I am still confused I have been mining for two days now and have not had a payout. Am I doing something wrong?

No, the pool is new. To solve a block a day at the current difficulty, we would need ~25GHs.
This means we will generally see payouts less often, but more rewarding payouts.

That said, I wish we the 35GH/s we had the other day Wink

So are diffferent pools working on different blocks? Or do they all try and solve the same one?

The one day i decide to take the plunge and buy some BTC and the most reputable looking website is down! I appreciate the service though, it looked the most trustworthy  Smiley There is a worrying amount of attention being brought to bitcoin at the moment, i hope the prices don't go up till i have some Cheesy
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Cheat-proof, Inst/Auto Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource) on: June 09, 2011, 08:10:17 AM
So is the 0.001% Fee as well as the 0.01 BTC we have to pay to cashout?
8  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 08, 2011, 07:19:43 PM
So if i understand correctly, a simple situation would be this:

If Person 2 joined the pool at when the weighting was 5.
And the number means how many shares have been submitted at that weighting (would decrease within a given time period).

Person 1                     Person 2       Share Weighting (Decreases with time until block is solved)
         1                                                               10
         1                                                                9
         1                                                                8
         1                                                                6
         1                             3                                 5
         1                             3                                 4
         1                             3                                 3
         1                             3                                 2
         1                             3                                 1

Person 1 submitted 10 shares. Has a total weighting of 55.
Person 2 submitted 15 shares. Has a total weighting of 45.
This means that Person 1 minimises their losses (or even equals or gets more than) Person 2 as he started mining earlier in the pool, and so the weighting starts canceling out the fact that Person 2 has a higher share of the reward.

No, that's what the scoring is meant to prevent.
Share # Person a (Pool Hopper) Person b (loyal member) Share weight
1          1mh                          1mh                            1
100       1mh                          1mh                            1.1
10000    1mh                          1mh                            2
100000   0mh                         1mh                            4
1000000 0mh                          1mh                            10

Please note these numbers are purely made up, but they might help get the point across. Since you never know when a block will end and pool hopping exploits the start of a new block, it causes anyone trying to cheat to not get a disproportionate reward on short rounds.

The share weights are not 1-1, and reset with each block, creating a constant sliding scale. Your rewards should be the same or better than a proportional share if you are not trying to exploit pool hopping.

Oh right, i get it Smiley thanks for explaining!

Sigh, my estimated earnings are still randomly decreasing and jumping about.
Is the score calculation still flawed?

I'll do my own calculations to determine how accurate it is.

Edit:
50(13535/441462)=1.533 BTC
My earnings are showing as 1.203 BTC  Huh

I am trying to iron-out the cheat-proof estimate. It's crazy logarithmic math. Payouts are also no longer 100% proportional. They are weighted towards miners who spend even time in the round. So, if you're not trying to pool-hop, you will be paid slightly more than those who are.

Even if your estimate is off: the final payout will be correct. The final payout calculations are too complex and strenuous to run often enough for estimates.

Could you explain the entire formula for calculating how we are paid? Then we can review it and fully understand how the reward system works.

Also, with the current method, doesn't that mean the lower-power contributers (below 500 MH/s) are unfairly being disadvantaged relative to the high-power hashers, so long as the high-power hashers are present (or accepting shares while the low-power hashers are too)?

No, hashrate has nothing to do with the scoring weight. It's weighted towards when you participate.

Think of it as proportional scoring but also proportional to the length of the round you participated in.

The actual proof and discussion is here if you want the technical details (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=4787.0)

Just refreshed my stats, getting this error now: Notice: Undefined variable: roundEstimate in /var/www/includes/leftsidebar.php on line 54 Est. Earnings: BTC

Yes, sorry about that, just upgraded to the latest version of my framework.

Yes, your earnings estimates are way off. I'll be fixing them shortly.

Everyone should now be able to cashout, no more donatePercent issues (Really think it's fixed this time).

Firstly, Happy Birthday!

Secondly, im afraid im still seeing the error "Notice: Undefined index: donatePercent in /var/www/accountdetails.php on line 95" when i try to change my cashout address, it just remains the same.

Huh Back to the drawing board. I'll get it.

UPDATE: Error should be gone, should be working now!

The error is no longer showing, but i still can't seem to change my payout address. Maybe its just a problem with my account?

same problem

Yes its fixed now! Thank you very much Cheesy
