1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: technical: 0.3.23 .exe installer has wrong version file properties on: June 20, 2011, 08:14:02 AM
nobody cares about version mix in binary installer?
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / technical: 0.3.23 .exe installer has wrong version file properties on: June 16, 2011, 03:57:49 PM
wondering as i have registered last week or so and even posted two posts in other non-newbie areas before as replies. also one of my posts was creating a new technical support question thread. maybe these new anti-spam measurements have been only introduced thereafter?

anyways, so there is the 0.3.23 to be downloaded on the main bitcoin.org site, the file results in:
bitcoin-0.3.23-win32-setup.exe
on the disk. the files properties (windows, rightclick), still displays 0.3.22, maybe someone made some compile or string update errors or so. during runtime the about dialogbox also displays 0.3.23, so i guess its the real 0.3.23 and only partly messed up. please forward into the technical subforum or unlock my forum account for being able to post to non-newbie sections as well. thanks in advance, and i also do hate spammers. there are less restrictive and obstrusive measures against spammers though. recaptcha or similar anyone?

also i have noticed: the site forum.bitcoin.org is especially slow. taking many minutes til each and every one of my clicks actually results in a html page being rendered. i wonder if the site is deliberately slowing down newbies with some sort of cookies check mechanism or account check mechanism, or if the server (hosting at slicehost or so tells netcraft) is severely overloaded?
maybe someone at slicehost is running actually  bitcoin crunching on the real physical or even shared virtual server Wink where the forum.bitcoin.org is being shared and run on. Smiley

thanks and regards.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 10btc reward for fix (5850 or 5870 no post issue) on: June 08, 2011, 06:34:23 PM
try going for single cards, first, then rotate through the pcie ports.

real pcie compatibility and standards conform behavior should be that every single one of todays pcie hardware, not matter what revision and width of the pcie connector should work in all the older and even narrower pcie slots. its that simple. no bullshit about you dont have enough wattage or your mainboard doesnt support x16 or crap. if thats still the truth, your manufacturer (hello ibm?) plain sucks. i can run any of my pcie harware even in oldest pcie revision 1.0 boards on x1 slots. they all work. and these are graphics and for example scuzzy controllers and whatnot. get some decent setup and kick your manufacturers ass (hw designers, firmware developers, ....)

good luck.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / too agressive debug.log-ging (winxp/win32,0.3.22) - where to set verbosity? on: June 08, 2011, 06:30:25 PM
i want to set the debug level or disable debug.log-ging alltogether. upnp works fine, nat and connection to irc and dns as well. i am getting 1-byte wise write events on the debug.log file in the %appdata%\bitcoin\debug.log file. its very aggressive and it was even worse with 0.3.21 it seems to have calmed down a bit with 0.3.22, but still pain. i have not found any commandline arguments or infos on how to set the debuglevel verbosity and so forth.
thanks for helping. regards.
