2  Bitcoin / Legal / USA Tax - 1040 Schedule C "Inventory" <-- bitcoins? how many ? on: April 16, 2018, 06:26:18 PM
Since as a miner, you produce bitcoins, I am guessing that this would count as "inventory" in the Schedule C form for "Profit or Loss from Business", and particularly to my question, as a sole proprietorship. However, as a sole proprietorship, there is no distinction of business assets and personal assets, so what determines the "inventory" in this case? Are you supposed to declare all of your bitcoin holdings or do you just draw an imaginary line to what the business "inventory" is?

(I'm obviously not looking for official tax help, I will talk to an accountant eventually)
3  Economy / Services / Re: Want to start mining In Texas? (Surrounding Area's) on: April 14, 2018, 07:37:10 AM
Passive cooling and channeling does wonders. I was already doing this and temperature has not really been a problem for me.

What kind of passive cooling do you use? and what do you mean by channels? When you say temperature is not a problem, are you saying your cooling system has actually made the electricity bill not significantly affected by the cooling portion? I'm interested in mining in Texas, what kind of building do you suggest? Is it cheaper to buy land and build a barebones warehouse?
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: April 14, 2018, 02:36:36 AM
I'm definitely going to try these out. I'm hopeful the decreased efficiency is offset by increased reliability.

Update:
Reliability has been great! Not a single failure from the first batch. Reminds me of the S7s.

Update #2:
We've got another 50 T9s arriving the first week of March. Check my signature if you're interested.

Is the reliability that  much worth the loss in efficiency ?

be #craeful with
Code:
push_amt
, it allows instant payment during channel creation, you are _paying_ them when you do this, whether intended or not, so basically don't do it unless there is some agreement with the other party. What you want to use mainly is
Code:
local_amt
, this funds your side of the channel, available to you whenever you want to close out (generally don't close channels unless you really need onchchain funds)

For now, channel creation is only "1 sided" where people can fund their side of a new channel with others, but later it will be possible for 2 nodes to simultaneously fund their own side of the same channel _during creation_.

One of the most exciting things I'm looking forward to is AMP (atomic multi-path) payments, which allow a single atomic payment to be split up among multiple routes, and summed back on the destination, this is a major feature that will take advantage of smaller channels and prevent the need for massive channels (centralization pressure). Lots of cool stuff coming for LN.

yeah, I don't see any of the rules I broke, I didn't make both posts back to back, the 2nd was a day or 2 after I noticed the first was deleted (they weren't the same post either)

Hello, I have a new account here and have made 1 post reply, and 2 (or so?) posts, both of the posts got like 1 or 2 replies but then they dissapeared, I'm wondering if there is some rule I broke or what I have to do to maintain a post that I make? not sure what the deal is, thanks
