1  Economy / Micro Earnings / [ANN] CITADEL Web-Miner - first(?) BitShares faucet on: June 26, 2018, 07:24:51 PM
Hi guys.

To promote CITADEL.MONERO token, we have launched a simplistic web-miner, powered by CoinHive.

To receive your tokens you need a BitShares account. You can freely withdraw your CITADEL.MONERO tokens into XMR (monero) or you can keep them in the BitShares system for trading.

[ Please direct all support questions regarding CITADEL web-miner into this thread. If you have other questions regarding CITADEL or BitShares, you might want to find other threads. Thank you. ]

CITADEL Team,
I thought I'd give the bitshares platform my first try using your interface, and I'm not seeing my CITADEL.MONERO balance.
[snip]

beetjuicesundae, the transaction has finally been finalized http://cryptofresh.com/tx/9975e8aa5d13067e26cc4946ca8a04096a0b4493.

I cannot recommend using CITADEL. I've tried reaching out on this forum, r/monero, r/xmrtrader, and steemit.com about my attempt to get XMR on the bitshares exchange using citadel. There's been zero response from anyone connected to the project after 10 days.  I'm very disappointed, and it's soured my outlook on the bitshares platform, which I was looking forward to using.  If users have to trust the Gateways (like CITADEL) as much as they have to trust centralized exchanges, then what's the point??

I'm profoundly sorry for you bad experience. We're a very young gateway and we're still working out bugs ALONG with adding new features (on a daily basis). You might've also noticed, that we haven't yet established a dedicated support channel, nor ran any ad campaigns. We're still in alpha stage, and rely on people like you for the time being. I have to personally thank you for being this patient, and for staying civil in your posts.

Almost a month passed since your request, so that's definitely some terrible support. We'll try to improve our services, and we'll definitely hire a dedicated support team at some point in the future.

As for you general sentiment regarding BitShares wrt Gateways. Your analysis is indeed correct. In BitShares, the trust is shifted out of the exchange platform itself and onto external gateways. On the first glance, that might look like exactly the same thing -- but it does provide some solid benefits. Even if some gateway turns rogue (or simply goes out of business), the whole system is not going down with it. In fact, some other gateway may pick up the tokens and continue to withdraw/deposit them. For example, both BlockTrades and OpenLedger support OPEN.BTC token. CITADEL plans to support some other external tokens as well (given they pass the requirements, not all bitshares tokens are created equal). Even if that doesn't happen, it's still nice to spread your eggs among different baskets. When some centralized exchange goes down, you lose ALL your tokens. Lastly, BitShares protects you from other kinds of fraud, not directly related to withdrawal or deposit -- in particular, it ensures there are no fake orders, and it never goes "out of service" just when you need it the most.

Summing it all up - if our reputation continues to suffer, some other gateway trading Monero will appear and the show will go on. Of course we'll try our best to enhance our reputation (along with support services) aiming to be THE monero gateway.

It opens to settings window. To select node. Then asks for master password which is unknown. Trying to create new wallet. Then it says "module 'bitshares.exceptions' has no attribute 'RPCError'" . Then connection failure.  What to do.

Thanks for the bug report! I'm not sure which error exactly you're getting, but this particular RPCError issue is fixed for the next release. I'll let you know when it lands.

It is good to see other nodes. Are they as secure as your special one? i.e. Do the others reveal e ye hee info, etc?

Each witness node can (in theory) log and map IP addresses into bitshares accounts (and back). If you are worried about that, you can use TOR Proxy, which would efficiently erase this mapping. So in this regard, other nodes should be as good. If you need more privacy, then, by all means, go for the .onion node.

3. Thank you, I believe this is a known bug in bitshares-ui. Could you please test it in Tor Browser?
Yes. Can sluggishly navigate around web browser online. Although loading username pw fields in middle wont load. You can navigate to settings, and some other tabs. A little faster than OL CB, yet prefer smoother functions. Is it T b B thats clunky?

Yeah, the web UI is pretty sluggish, that is, sadly, a known issue. Sad

Can the "special" citadel node be added to gdex, cb, bts UIs clients or browser mode? A little getting use to, navigating around client.

Probably not the .onion service, but we'll definitely be working with upstream to include as much of our changes as possible.

I really impressed how easy it worked and great jobs you did on your website! Congratulations and good luck to continue this job!!!

Thank you!

It seems good when you provide full information about your project, hope you guys success. good job.

Thank you!

1. How does one create a local wallet?
2. Trying to connect deposit to Blocktrades, Citadel gateways. Tabs for bridges takes a while.
3. Loading in Firefox browser still an issue, FYI.

Thank you for trying it out.

1. I believe your best bet would be to download the Desktop version of the software.
2. Are you saying you can't connect to either of those gateways? Sad
3. Thank you, I believe this is a known bug in bitshares-ui. Could you please test it in Tor Browser?

Would you be listing ETH tokens also, because I have not seen token on BTS exchanges.

You mean tokens that exist inside ETH ? The technical process of connecting them with BTS tokens would be pretty challenging (although, quite doable). I believe that's the reason you haven't seen it done yet. If you're talking about ETH itself, I think it's listed over several gateways already.

Also, what is the process to get listed on your exchange, I can recommend your exchange to some project which I am part of the community.

The process is quite straight-forward, we can talk over PM here or exchange e-mails, we're very open in cooperation with other projects.

Just to be clear, however, the projects in question should have like-minded goals. We're all about anonymity and user control; coins we've listed (and planning to list) all have some form of Stealth transactions. If it's something in the similar vein, if it's something that can bring users more control, there's a good chance we can work something out.

So your project is something like a hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency? If so, what are the main differences from competitors?
its the same.. dont have any differneces

That is an entirely unfair assessment. We have a decentralized coin exchange with support for 20+ altcoins (LTC, DOGE, DASH, and tons more, via third-party bridges) + XMR support (via our own bridge). And that's just the top of it.

We also provide stealth/anonymous transfers (similar to Monero and ZCash).

Tell me, does your cold wallet support work with Trezor-type hardware wallets?

No. This is something we're very interested in and will likely support in the future.

How is it different from other wallets?

In terms of crypto in general, it has a built-in exchange. That's what makes it stand out.

In terms of BitShares eco-system, it's different from the console and web-based wallets, being a native GUI app.

So your project is something like a hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency? If so, what are the main differences from competitors?

Not quite, the cold storage aspect is not the main focus of the project. We're simply providing a new interface to the world of bitshares, which, in turn, allows you to trade crypto currencies (and even some fiat) from the safety of your own personal computer, being in total control of your private keys and assets/tokens.

Here's the first public release of a brand-new BitShares wallet.

If you don't know what BitShares is - it's a block-chain based Decentralized Exchange, basically a system to trade users-issued assets. BitShares also has "gateways" - special bridges to exchange those assets into real cryptocurrencies (and fiat). In tandem, those 2 features allow people to trade coins, without relying on some central authority.

Coins supported: BTC, LTC, DOGE, DASH, XMR, ZCASH, 200+ more.

BitShares project already has a cli_wallet and a great web-wallet, with rich user interface.

We bring you something new: a native desktop client for BitShares, a small portable program to store and trade your crypto.

Our manifesto:

Citadel is your personal crypto-wallet guard and a decentralized exchange platform in the system of Bitshares. We say, farewell to blind trust and farewell to restricting procedures on operations with currencies.

Last illusions about anonymity as a given have fallen. And yet, as we enter an exponentially growing universe of crypto-exchange, advised and warned, we still tend to trust our information, locations, identities and digital assets to opaque and restricting services of large companies.

WE, IN THE CITADEL, BELIEVE
THAT WE SHOULD ALWAYS STAY ALERT.

Citadel is both a cold wallet and a decentralized exchange. Being on the technological cutting edge, Citadel is now the only client in the system of Bitshares, which supports anonymous Stealth transactions — an ability to send an ‘unknown amount’ of tokens from one ‘unknown’ account to an another. That includes operations with such progressive coins as Monero, ZCash and FILF, allowing both clearnet and Tor access, via web-interfaces and various APIs.

Based on DEX, Citadel by its very design doesn’t store any transaction information neither has any keys to the funds of its users. Moreover, to use Citadel no identification documents are required, just a username.
