Proof of Work – PoW

The proof of the work is based on the Bayes Theorem and the laws of thermodynamics to prove that a particular block actually required a certain amount of work to be extracted. In this way, users can simply choose the longest valid chain with the highest amount of work, such as the correct string.

Prova de Trabalho – PoW

A prova do trabalho tem por base o Teorema de Bayes e as leis da Termodinâmica para provar que um determinado bloco, realmente exigiu uma certa quantidade de trabalho para ser extraído. Dessa forma, os utilizadores podem, simplesmente, escolher a cadeia mais longa válida, com a maior quantidade de trabalho, como a cadeia correta.
Mas isso implica que a Prova de Trabalho é extremamente ineficiente, em termos energéticos e, portanto, também muito cara a sua utilização. Isto leva os mineiros a centralizar o poder de hashing – o que, obviamente, não é desejável, para uma rede cujo objetivo é minimizar a necessidade de confiar em terceiros.

Prova de Participação – PoS

A prova de participação não tem a ver apenas com mineração, trata-se também de poder validar transações. Com efeito, os blocos ainda precisam ser criados por alguém, o eleito para criar o próximo bloco depende do algoritmo específico da prova de participação, o processo de seleção deverá ter algum tipo de aleatoriedade ou, pelo menos, distribuir as ações, com direito a voto, adequadamente (caso contrário, revertemos para um sistema centralizado).
Em PoS, uma pessoa pode minerar ou validar operações na blockchain, de acordo com o número de moedas que possui. Isto significa que quantas mais moedas, um determinado mineiro possuir, mais poder de mineração (Hash) terá.
A primeira criptomoeda a adotar o método PoS foi a Peercoin. Nxt, Blackcoin e ShadowCoin – agora Shadowcash, seguiram-lhe o exemplo.
