1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or 3rd generation blockchain on: November 06, 2019, 09:57:54 PM
The fact is, achievements that have been seen are more desirable than wishful thinking which only ends in nonsense. Bitcoin may not be better in terms of technology compared to many altcoin projects that have emerged lately, but the market capacity and investor confidence that has been formed for quite a long time is difficult to remove. That is why, only projects that have the strength and commitment to continue to develop their products are able to survive.
Of course many project make a lot of promises and most will not deliver, but still I am wondering if Bitcoin can scale and be what people want it to be. If the technology is too old and will not work at big scale, it may stay as a store of value or fade away when better technologies arise.
I see that a lot of people invest and believe in bitcoin, but I just don't see how it will work in long term, for anything else than a store of value.(which may still keep it very expensive)

Bitcoin is the king. Nothing can be like bitcoin. What it has given to the world is something that was never imagined. Bitcoin is the savior. It is the best thing happened to this generation. The holders of bitcoin are no common people. ethereum, no doubt, is a good rather the best altcoin so far but lets just get honest here, bitcoin is the whole reason why ethereum has survived till this day.
Can you please explain why you think so, how do you see bitcoin in the future. Will it scale and how or it will be used as a store of value?

Thank you everyone for your answers, time will show what will happen, I just wanted to hear other points of view.

It really comes to that if bitcoin can scale, without get centralized.
Now the system capacity is full, on blocktivity shows that there is many unconfirmed transactions, and still we are very early and much more people will use it if it gets mass adoption.
Can someone explain why he thinks lightening and segwit will solve the problem and how?
May bitcoin stay big even without scaling as a store of value?

Can you name these 3rd generation blockchains and how are they more decentralized?

It's probably not because of the first move advantage but because none of these other blockhains have proven themselves to be more secure than bitcoin.
I did not mean to talk about other projects, but just talk in theoretical terms, maybe the project I am talking does not yet exist, or it is among the top altcoins.

Hi everyone,
distributed ledger technology is the future, I think most people agree on this, but why bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the oldest system, it is not scalable, it needs second layer scaling solution, it is energy consuming, there is few big mining pools and is not very decentralized. There are other problems too.

Woudn't a 3rd generation blockchain that is more decentralized in practice, less energy consuming, cheaper, and offer smart contracts and many more possibilities surpass bitcoin at some point?
Is the first move advantage so big, is there something else I am missing?

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The stars in the next Crypto Bubble. on: August 12, 2019, 10:06:27 AM
Why should it always be a bubble? Back in 2017, when projects collected millions of dollars just by having a good whitepaper, maybe it was a bubble. Right now industry is much healthier and a lot of projects have a real value, because their tokens are backed by functioning products.
It is not always a bubble, but it is very hard to determine the fair price for the cryptocurrencies. So they are usually overvalued or undervalued and the cycles keep repeating. That's why I expect a big bubble in the next few years, but of course they may raise gradually together with their development and real value.
I really don't see how bitcoin will stay bigger than EOS and Cardano, which will be much more advanced technologies, but maybe I am missing something.

Hello, it has been more than a year since I started this topic.  Since then the bitcoin start recovering and increasing its dominance compared to altcoins.
Altcoin projects are not dead and keep improving and developing but for now these is no big interest in them.
How do you see the future, will bitcoin stay as the dominant cryptocurrency or will be surpassed by the best altcoins and why?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All ways to cash out your Tether (USDT) ? on: October 17, 2018, 08:02:46 AM
Tether now costs 96 cents on the exchanges. I still can't find a way to sell it for USD in 1-1 rate.
It looks more and more like a scam.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It could take 2 years for the market to recover on: June 15, 2018, 08:14:39 AM
In the last bubble it took 2 years for bitcoin to recover, and similar thing may happen again. Of course everything is possible in crypto and bitcoin may recover faster, longer or never.
The altcoins I think are likely to follow different pattern. Eos already surpassed the bubble peak and many other third generation projects may die or explode much earlier. If a third generation finishes their project and offer better platform they may surpass bitcoin.
The best thing is probably to diversify and gradually enter the market and have enough FIAT to buy if cryptos dip even more.

I am a big believer in Distributed Ledger Technology and think the overall market will go up, but about any particular currency we don't know, and that is true even for bitcoin and etherium.

Yes you are right. I think someday government will also acceot the blockchain system. Blockchain is the future to the digital financial system and no one can deny it.
Yes, it looks like that. Now our job is to find the right projects. Smiley
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where to invest long term aside from Bitcoin? on: June 08, 2018, 06:21:43 AM
Look at the third generation projects like EOS, NEO, Cardano and others. You need to research for yourself to pick the right project, but if they accomplish what they are planning, will become huge.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 3 coins in 2020? on: June 05, 2018, 05:57:27 AM
I think the future belongs to the third generation cryptocurrencies.
Cardano, EOS, NEO, IOTA or some new projects.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 year of the bear market on: May 28, 2018, 01:23:47 PM
My prediction is that 2018 is the year of the bear market. 2017 was the year of the bull run. We won't be seeing a bull run not for another year or so. People just got into crypto after 2017. Now that people realise opportunity. U must wait for the arrival. Because reality slaps in the face.

This is very likely scenario for bitcoin. That's exactly what happened in the last bubble. Here are some charts:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4322295.msg38766563#msg38766563

I think the quality altcoins have much lower chance to follow this pattern.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Few bitcoin charts, and what to expect this year. on: May 28, 2018, 09:12:41 AM
Here are the bitcoin charts from the last two bubbles 2013/2014 and 2017/2018. They look very similar and if history repeats we may expect long downtrend for at least one more year.

Here is 2 year chart after 2013 bubble:

The cycles repeat very similarly, just 2013 it took more time. Do you think the same will happen?
Do you thing the altcoins will follow different pattern, if they release good working products. Isn't it better to switch to utility coins like Etherium, EOS, NEO, Cardano, IOTA, ICON and similar projects?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The stars in the next Crypto Bubble. on: May 15, 2018, 05:04:49 AM
I believe governments at some point will stop trying to stop it but to use the technology, cause as it allows total privacy it also allows total surveillance and control. It depends on how the system is build and lets hope the most adopted networks will have the right balance.

But what do you think guys, which of the existing projects have the best chances to be among the top 5 in 5 years?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The stars in the next Crypto Bubble. on: May 14, 2018, 04:43:48 AM
Hi everyone, I have been following the forum for a long time but never posted. Now I wanna share my thoughts on the cryptocurrencies and hear your opinions too.

Distributed Ledger is a great technology. The internet of value is as revolutionary as the internet itself, and it looks like 2017 wasn't the last bubble.
The market will settle and will start raising again, but who will be the stars in the next crypto bubble and how big it may get?

The era of digital economy is coming and we will be able to trade everything easily, so I don't see a point to use a pure currency instead of utility currency or stock, that will give me a return  like NEO or EOS.
It seems to me that the first cryptocurrencies that have a solid real life application will rise at a higher rate and even surpass Bitcoin in future. I don't think that Bitcoin will die, it will stay as a store of value but the real giants will be others.
I would bet on projects like EOS, NEO, Cardano, IOTA maybe even Ethereum if it evolves, and I am sure many others have a chance too.

And how big the next bubble will get?
Dotcom bubble is estimated around 5 trillion dollars if am not wrong, but it was almost 20 years ago and the real value of this money is much more now. It was concentrated in a small parts of the world and even there many people had difficulties or didn't know how to invest.
Now the information is more available, it's easier to buy and much more people all around the world can do it. So if some projects succeed and offer real life applications, the bubble may raise to tens of trillions of dollars!!

Of course the cryptos may go another way, but I think a huge bubble is a real possibility in the next 3-4 years.

What do you think guys, am I wrong somewhere?
Which will be the top five cryptos in 5 years?
