Unfortunately, it would appear that it's not really worth trying to spend your BTC right now until adoption becomes more mainstream. Ultimately, this will mean larger corporations getting involved in cryptocurrency. And I honestly don't think we're too far off that.

Once corporations such as Mastercard and Visa accept BTC, or large online vendors such as Amazon (I think we're really close there), that will coincide with a massive price hike in the value of major cryptocurrencies and perhaps even result in discounted goods when paying in BTC and LTC
