1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Selling through Online Ads on Localbitcoins questions about MoneyGram on: November 13, 2014, 02:11:49 PM
Is MoneyGram a decent option if I wish to increase my sales volume? I was thinking Cash Deposit system at first, but I'm not to sure a bank would be very approving if they discovered what I was doing. I was hoping someone could shed a little light on the subject and maybe provide me with somewhat of a standard to go off of? I would like to follow through with this in the most efficient way possible.

Good analogy, thanks for settling my nerves. I was a little irked about this.

I like that outlook, but what is the possibility of countries banning anything btc related because of the bank now controlling a similar currency type?

Did a little skimming through some articles linked below, wanted to see what everyone else thought on the subject. I'm feeling like they are trying to cut bitcoin out taking many off its good features, centralize it and take the control of it away from the people who use it.

If you're gonna use nvidia you should def use cudaminer to pump out a little extra power.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin a good alternative to bitcoin for newcomers. on: December 31, 2013, 06:34:50 PM
You  can't rely on cpu mining it just isn't practical anymore, your cpu really is of no consequence as long as you have a decent one. GPU on the other hand is where all the work is done, I recommend amd 7950 cards they are a bit pricy now a days, so an alternative is the next gen up which still use the same architecture.

Check out my simple rig construction link above it will tell you everything you need
I wouldn't recommend buying the cards off of amazon though, you can find brand new cards cheaper at newegg.com

I feel with the impending regulation btc will lose it's "anonymous" status and become linked to the wallet owners somehow in order for governments to be able to tax the funds each contains/received throughout the year. But I feel it will keep its decentralized status. Major changes are on the horizon, hold on tight it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin a good alternative to bitcoin for newcomers. on: December 31, 2013, 05:58:28 PM
Hi, like many of you I joined the bitcoin community a little late and really can't afford to hop in the mining game . Sure I still do sites like BitVisitor for that little extra maybe that will payoff one day (I doubt it, keeps me occupied when I'm not busy at work.) but I have stumbled upon ltc which is easier to mine for people that don't want to purchase the expensive asic units to keep up with the btc craze. It's easy to get started here are a few links to other threads in the forum  as well as some free ltc sites, hope this helps.

Here is a pool (instructions on the site to set up): WeMineltc
Here are some help threads (Unfortunately I have nvidia cards so I use cudaminer here is a link for helping get the most out of your nvidia cards): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0
Litecoin4you ltc faucet

This isn't very in depth so if anyone needs help let me know, and I'll try to the best of my ability.
edit: Here is a link to a simple rig construction LTCminingRig

A faucet can be described as a site that distributes bitcoin, usually in return for a service that anyone could do requiring no money or equipment really but just a few moments of your time.

@Valnurat
I can't see anything visibly wrong with your launch setup there must be a third party software interference maybe? I know you turned firewalls off, maybe the port isn't open? I can't do much from work, if it really comes  down to it i would say do a fresh install of the OS you want to use that way there won't be any doubt. But don't jump on that train I'm new to this and wish i could help  more.

How do you use cudaminer through a proxy?

http://www.lpshowboat0099.com/Blog/how-to-mining-ltc-with-cudaminer-on-a-stratum-server/

this should help ya out

but with newest releases of cudaminer , you do not need a proxy to run.

Yes, I have tried that but it will not Work.

Anyone have an idea why it will not Work?
'

probably because the TCP server address is wrong or the server is down. Try connecting to another server or checking your syntax

I found out that port# was wrong, but it do not change that I still can not connect as you can see here:

I tried to use my home laptop with a bad nvidia videocard, but that is working as you can see here:

So I guess my syntax is ok.

Does anyone have any idea?

I have admin right on both computers and I have disabled the firewall on the computer that can not connect.

Please, anyone?

I assume you're using batch file to run your miner could you post the contents of this file?

Need help setting cudaminer up with proper settings, I've checked litecoin's hardware guide. I would also like to state that I love what you've done with software I'm getting ok hashrates now thank you so much. But I can't seem to get my results to validate on cpu. . Any help would be awesome.

also I'd like to note I've been dropping the -l to see if it would have any impact I dropped from the original specified F28x16,F28x16
is there any reason that it is listed twice with a comma between. what is the reason behind that?

run it without any configuration. Find one it autotune too. Use that then start adding things like -i 0 etc

Thanks I will try it when I get home, and will keep you posted.

Agreed, I really think this is a good idea in theory, but implementation would be difficult in the current state. That being said however I feel like this method would help alleviate reliance on central banks.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin used for payroll on: December 30, 2013, 08:47:24 PM
Based on current market price for btc at the time of payment, you could recieve your entire paycheck in btc. Wouldn't that just be great? If prices rise then you've actually made money! On the other hand if the price drops bellow what it was when the btc is issued therefore you actually lose money. Of course no company in their right mind at the current time would do this, but the idea is nice.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will you do if bitcoin "wins"? on: December 30, 2013, 08:15:49 PM
but what about regulations that are bound to be pressed on bitcoin? We can't expect zero regulation by countries such as the US,China, or the European union.

Regulation will be inevitable, but that's not really a bad thing. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will be very difficult to regulate anyway, even more so than cash.

Could the difficulty in regulation turn people away, you have to admit the volatility of btc is a little nerve wracking.

For sure. The currency is only volatile as it's still in its early days. Regulation could put people off, but it's a necessary evil for mainstream adoption really. Governments aren’t just going to sit back and watch people launder money without paying taxes on it.

When governments start getting would it be possible for one of the central banks from buying up mass amounts of btc in order to control distribution of them. I really feel the decentralized part of btc is one of it's greatest attributes wouldn't governments try to centralize and control it more. at the end of the day it's all about profits.

So it essentially a consensus that btc has a certain value based on market value, (what people perceive btc is worth depending on demand) if more online merchants and the possibility of local merchants to accept btc then the demand to own btc will be more. It's basic supply and demand, the more places that accept btc as a form of payment the better for the market. The issue comes with it's variability in price daily, merchants that operate on constant monthly payments or recurring transactions will be skeptical since the ability to write a contractual agreement is gonna be hard. Ehh it's all speculation really.

I get this same feeling about btc, there is just no way (without having a massive initial investment) to jump in the game at this time. I've decided to research altcoins a little more.
