1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | Fast | PoW-PoS | ASIC Resistance | Messages on: February 03, 2014, 08:37:14 PM
Hi,

I will also send a PM, if looks like all those transactions are in a row, which would look like a small fork off the main chain. Will have to try to recreate this on testnet. the transactions in and stones in that are on the main blockchain will still belong to you when you return to the main chain (and stake for larger amounts then). It also seems like you have very many stakes?  Is this an older wallet where this is typical? There may be some issue with such a high amount of dust. Will send PM to resolve.

Grin  Cheesy MY LOST STONES ARE BACK AGAIN !!!

1. I made a backup of my wallet.dat
2. I deleted the "/.Philosopherstone/" (Linux) folder
3. I run my wallet to create a new "/.Philosopherstone/" folder and waited for comlete synchronization
4. then "Stake:" showed "0 PHS" and the 1281 stones that were shown in "stake" before seemed to be lost.
5. I restarted the wallet with the command ./philosopherstone-qt -salvagewallet
6. And all my stones are back again!

Cry  Embarrassed   Huh
PLEASE HELP ME
I have some really BIG trouble with my wallet synchronization to the network although I have between 2 and 7 active connections (before the synchronization problems I had usually 12 active connections).
The lastest block I could get is block 142515.
For several weeks I was using wallet version 1.3.0 (Linux compiled from source) without any problems but since yesterday the synchronization to the network does not work and the remaining block count is increasing and increasing.

But the worst thing is that 60% of all my stones moved already into "stake".

In order to find the reason for the synchronization problem I moved/saved my "/.Philosopherstone/" directory to a different directory and when I restarted my wallet a new empty "/.Philosopherstone/" directory was created. The synchronization with this fresh directory was finished successfully after a few hours and during the blockchain download I had 16 active connections. But when I copy my saved wallet.dat to this new directory all my stones in "stake" disappeared!

For not losing more stones I set "reservebalance=" to a higher value then my current balance.
But the "reservebalance=" option seems not to work, too because right after this setting a new incoming POS transaction moved some more stones into "stake".  Angry

An update to wallet version 1.3.3 did not help. I have the same synchronization problem and my stones are still in "stake".
Thanks for your help in advance.

hi,

The stake field just shows the PHS being held for 50 blocks after a stake.  If you have 100 PHS and they stake they will show up int he stake field. After 50 blocks this amount will return to your balance. To shut off stake you can use the reserve balance OR just lock the wallet. There is no way stake will generate when locked.
It looks like you did the right procedure, I would check the Address you received PHS with on the explorer to see if the stakes showing in wallet are in the chain (stake generates to same address you originally received stones).  If so, you may want to backup your current wallet and try using an older one to see if this cleans up (with fully synced chain). This assumes you didn't modify the client or have a bad compile too.

If new POS is showing up with reserve balance  > actual balance than my first guess is you are not synced and it's catching up with what you already staked.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer.
I followed your advise and checked the blockchain for the transaction id shown in the transaction details of the "Mined"-POS transactions of my wallet. I was surprised that I could not find the transaction ids of the partly confirmed "Mined"-POS-transactions. The transaction id of the first unfinished POS-transaction was
65a66608d304fa65453296c786df6da110bb4feeba07b678519b4a35bbd5d7f8
I guess this means my 1281.800 PHS in the stake are really lost. Cry

In order to clarify what really happed, here is the history of my expensive experience:

1. I used the wallet without any problems on 29.01.14 (last successful transaction id aa32aa0c78d72f190880a3ecd4d623a32ea9e551ceab0dc9e4fcb81f78daf0ac 29.01.14 20:40 [see transaction list below])

2. I opened the wallet on 30.01.14 at round about 19:00 o'clock in the evening and the synchronization begun but the synchronization was very slowly. Before the synchronization was finished (latest block 142515 with blockdate 30.01.14 08:48o'clock) I got the first two incoming "Mined"-POS-transactions at 21:00 o'clock.

3. I recognized that the synchronization has stopped completely at block 142515 but I got 33 and 34 confirmations for the first two "Mined"-POS-transactions. (this was a little bit strange for me)

4. Between 30.01.14 21:00o'clock and 31.01.14 18:01.14 I got 34 "Mined"-POS-transactions in total and 1281.800 PHS were moved into stake. (By the way I have 26 receive addresses with stones)

I guess the reason for this bug is that the wallet is NOT locked for minting (incoming POS-transactions) until the synchronization is finished.

Could anyone fix this critical bug before even more users lose their stones?

Until this bug is fixed I would suggest everyone to disable the POS-functionality by increasing the "reservebalance=" to a value higher than your current balance or to encrypt your wallet (locked for minting).

my personal CHECKLIST to find your "perfect" crypto coin currency (distinguish a quality-coin from the mass of trash-coins. )
I hope this will be helpful for you

TRANSPARENCY / TRUSTWORTHY:
1. Are the full specifications easy to find on bitcointalk.de or on a website of this coin?
2. Is the source code available for this coin?
3. Does a website exist? Is the website online? Is the URL of the website changing very often? Are the full specifications easy to find on the website?
4. Is there a hint that the coin is NOT PREMINED or a special hint of the premine-percentage! (If there are many entries in the blockchain that are older than the official release date of the coin, then you should be suspicious!)

TECHNICAL RELIABILITY:
1. any damaged or forked blockchains in the past?
2. If a critical bug appeared: Did the author offer a mandatory update very soon to fix it?
3. Is the coin available on several exchanges?
4. Did an exchange remove this coin because of technical issues?
5. Is the source code actively maintained? When was the last update?

INNOVATIONS:
1. Does the coin or the wallet offer some interesting innovations?
For expample:
1.1. Proof-of-Stake (POS) (for example: peercoin, novacoin, yacoin, philosopherstone, diamond)
1.2. possibility to add a transaction message to a transaction (for example: Florincoin, philosopherstone)
1.3. random blocks (for example: Luckycoin, philosopherstone)

I know it is some work to go through this checklist for each coin to find the right coin for you. But it might be worth it. If I have forgotten an important item for this checklist please tell me and I will add it.

What do you think of this logo?
It is a coin made of stone.

Right now it is Dogecoin...

Can you tell me a single new innovation of Dogecoin? I guess you can't

The whole minable amount. That's what make sense for a currency.

Thanks for your reply but I would call the number of total mineable coins a specification item because it is just changing a number in the Litecoin source code.
A real innovation is something like a new feature in my point of view.
The solution for the problem you mentioned would be switching to a lower dimension Altcoin -> milli-altcoin -> µ-altcoin. Then it would be easier to handle for most people (right many 0.00000xxx are difficult to handle).

You cannot compare the difficulty of Litecoin with Bitcoin because Litecoin is SCRYPT-based and cannot be mined with special mining hardware yet.

Litecoin: no special mining hardware => lower hashrate => lower difficulty

Dear noob2001,

I would say that your statement without any explanation is not useful for anyone.  Angry
It just tells us that your wallet is already full of sexcoins.  Wink

HAS DOGECOIN ANY INNOVATIVE FEATURES OR SPECIFICATIONS?  Undecided

I could NOT find a real reason for the popularity of Dogecoin yet. For me this coin is not more interesting than the original Bitcoin or Litecoin on which Dogecoin is based on. In my opinion Dogecoin is just a boring copy of Litecoin with a new name. Angry

Maybe the only reason for the popularity of Dogecoin was the extreme high reward for early miners, that will drop down in the future ("As of January 13, 2014, 28% of the 100 billion total dogecoins have been mined." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogecoin ).

And these early miners and traders who already hold in total more than 28% of the coins that will ever be mined are interested in an increasing price of the Dogecoins. I think this is the only reason why the Dogecoin is pushed and promoted everywhere in a non-technically (missing innovation) and just enthusiastic way.  Wink
