I am getting into the mining of MAGI but I found that only 5 miners can be active at one time.  Why is this? I hope they allow more miners, its not fun being in a que basically
One thing that you can do is look into running a proxy. There are programs that can take several connections and turn them into a single connection.

So, just to be clear, the new wallet is for testing, don't connect it to the main network, and just run it with a fresh chain, right?
That's what I'm doing ATM.

Yep, the timer is running out...

also... network hash just fell through the floor.... It seems to low to be true:

Hashrate   0.12 Mh/s

I understand what did that little boy do. And yes he can do to all coins which using "combined algos" for avoid usage of asics.

On that kind of attack our choices;

1-) Making all of the community able to reach same hashrate of the attacker. (new miner sw with asic support)
2-) Changing algo.

first one is out of magi soul, out of main idea but second option only aborting it again.

I'm not a dev. I'm not a pc programmer.
I'm only an telecomminication tecnician who is coding some microprocessors.

He's not attacking the hash, he's attaching the codebase/network.

Your name is oddly similar to a user on a pool who does about 5000 - 8000khs

im beyond mining since ages
POS and masternodes and harvesting
thats the way i make money this days on multiple coins

XMG is no earner in no way but i like joe and magic and i know they are honest guys
just they didnt made the jump to fulltime crypto and the whole project suffers by that

POW is so dead even if u think u see it still walking
its walking dead

i hope joe realize and cut the head of this zombie technology

Well Put Smiley

I'm keen to traditions.
Hey Joe,
I was wondering if you guys need any help on fixing the vulnerability that has been exploited by the russian. I have experience working with C/C++, and would be glad to help get this fixed as soon as possible. (I tried to PM, but it didn't go through. I'm still too new on this forum)

To state it a little more clearly, I want to know if it works like this.

Person A has 100 devices mining that have a total hashrate of 1000kh/s
Person B has 1 device mining that has a total hashrate of 1000kh/s

Do person A and person B have the same affect on block rewards or does person A result in low rewards and person B results in high rewards?  In order for this coin to make any sense then I think it has to work like this. This type of reward structure disincentives certain types of miners from even bothering the network at all since their rewards won't be worthwhile if they solve blocks.

1000Kh is 1000Kh, regardless of number of machines.

The block reward is set by global hashrate and nothing else?  What is the point of this coin? Any single person can tank the block reward for the whole network. A next gen eco-friendly coin would work like my scenario and reward low hash devices higher than large hashrate devices, thus emphasizing a smaller mining footprint.

Where is that coin being developed?  Because I want to join that community.

This is what I also thought at first. however, it's more challenging than it seems.
The problem comes down to the problem that it is impossible (in this case) to link a computer to a specific person, and that doing so goes against the nature of cryptocurrencies. All you can do is look at the machine. However, computers are inherently completely configurable. Even to the point where a large computer can appear to the outside as 2, 3, 4, or how ever many smaller computers it wants to. In other words, the large miners would just create multiple accounts that each appear to be a smaller miner.

jonathin.r, do you try to drink soothing? Or may be simple you need to jerk off to calm down a little?)

Definitely no more than you need to start asking yourself why you are doing what you are doing.

Who else not understanding my graphical explanation about POW mining?
If you will be 10+ noobs, I will try to explain simplier, but how simplier it can be?)

Also want to notice, I do not owe anything to anyone. You must be happy that I am writing here for you.

One answer: show us the numbers. I did. We did. You have not.

What's that about not wasting CPU cycles? Orphan percentages as of 11:45am est

Graphic explanation of reason why all POW miners must jump in a frenzy and pray with love when see starting orphan block period:

If you not understand it, nothing will help to you)

And about devaluation
I am add 0.06% avg to moneysupply every day. It is not so much in fact that soon dev will fix it.

Huh, still waiting on these "rewards" you talk about.  Seems like your the only one cashing in.

I second that.

Hey, if any Dev's read this, I'd be interested in helping fix the code base. I have experience with C and C++, and like solving logical/mathematical problems. If you are already working on the fix, I'd be interested in adding my efforts to the codebase, instead of trying to track down and fix the bug myself, which I am strongly tempted to do.

u need no invite its open source code and submit ur proposal on github

But the repository owner needs to approve the pull requests into the main branch. If Joe's not around, nobody's doing anything to the codebase.

joe is around

I've heard a few rumors that he is working on a fix. If I started trying to fix it, I'd be starting from scratch on a codebase where I have little experience.

I will give 100 XMG to such Hercule Poirot who will find out my exchange address account in next 24h. Time starting from timestamp of this post only for first true answer.
No winner

What was the address?

Another question:
I have noticed that when he is not attacking, there is a large % of PoS blocks. Is this normal?
At the moment, 459 out of the last 500 are PoS.

here is my address: 98Tt1BGgeki4qUvnaEzwFNBv9mAVJcqFAh

Are you sure that's right? Either CryptoID is being wonky again, or you might've mis-pasted it.

It's a new address.

I may disagree with what you are doing to the blockchain, but at least you have been relatively honest so far.

Hey Vitalik,
I Think I found your new address.

9LvDoEhev9aVgskEQNrqgnXTQVb6rnaP1m

If it's not, please show why. because it's been taking a LOT of PoW blocks, and getting high rewards. It matches the award pattern that the other address was getting.

Also, for a little more detective work, you have been selling of those XMG.
How do I know?
simple. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/#!rich
Your account should have, at a LOW MINIMUM, 70,000 XMG. It doesn't. It has about 5,000. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/address.dws?9H9Z8LJATj2QsRojXLAgqu1STSXfGkkzsT.htm

At the bottom, you can see this address has received over 75,000 XMG. It has sent 67,138, spread out over 25 transactions, likely to exchanges.

And for a final piece of proof, the last  84 transactions are all 40.21785 XMG.  To you. The same amount that your blocks earn you.

When I say about "bad calculation", I think why you not using $10USD/XMG price)

I'm using 0.40 $ price of XMG. as confirmed by multiple exchanges at this time.

And all of I mined was mined at this time? That is why it is very bad calculations.

It was your choice to cash out earlier. And however you cut it, you have made a lot of $$ on this.

Alright, so I found something interesting on how the attack is carried out. If I'm not mistaken, PoW blocks can only be so many in line, aka you can't have 10 POW blocks with no PoS blocks. However, take a look at this:
Goto https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/ and click the show more link at the bottom until it shows as many blocks as it will (500)
Then, hit Ctrl+F and enter 9H9Z8LJATj2Q (it's the start of a specific address)
Note the correlation with blocks that have a reward of right about 40XMG.
Also, note that there are often large blocks of blocks found by this address. I found one that was 29: 1791063-1791091, and there's probably larger.

I am almost certain that this address is Vitalik's.
Full address: 9H9Z8LJATj2QsRojXLAgqu1STSXfGkkzsT
Blocks mined: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/extraction.dws?783818.htm
At max, this address has mined up to 85% of blocks in a consecutive 100.

This, if nothing else, confirms that he is not operating in a pool.

Bravissimo!

Interesting, next attack I will use another address, will you need another one month to find out which?)

Not hard at all. Almost no other blocks are solomined. I'll just look for whatever new address is getting all the blocks with a reward of exactly 40.21785 XMG. Also, There are very few solo miners who have graphs like your's. (either nothing, or over 50% of chain, and lining up with the orphans)

Also, speaking of rewards, let's do a little math.
according to https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/extraction.dws?783818.htm, you have mined 2162 blocks with that address. You very likely have others based on a few signs in the blockchain. With a few exceptions, the reward is between 35-40 XMG each. Currently, 1 XMG = US$ 0.40
2162*37*0.40= 34,560 US$. That's 2,147,081 rubles.

For my point on other addresses, take a look at 9P3T9LdgYbTnL93n2sWoJzmAtb9nhoZRNc
It has also pulled a large number of solo blocks, and has some large (but not quite as large) spikes in % of blocks in chain. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/extraction.dws?683305.htm
This address has pulled 1637 solo blocks, and started doing so at almost the same time that the other address started mining.
1637*37*0.40 = 24,198 US$. That's 1,503,329 rubles.

total: 58,758 US$ That's 3,650,411 rubles.

I think you have gotten paid for your exploit of this hack. You said you worked for a few months on developing it. Let's be nice and say you worked an entire 3 months, 40 hours a week on it. This would be the equivalent of a 230,000$ salary.
AND THIS IS AT THE CURRENT LOW VALUE OF THE COIN.
What happens when it goes up to 1.20$ a coin? Then you've got 58,758*3 = over 176,000 $ That's almost 11 million rubles for you, my friend.

To say it concisely,
YOU HAVE BEEN PAID. PLEASE STOP NOW, or at least tell us what the flaw in the code is.

100XMG is nothing to you.

Bad calculations.
To say it concisely, I will paid only after fix)

You have already transferred 67,138 XMG out to somewhere. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/address.dws?9H9Z8LJATj2QsRojXLAgqu1STSXfGkkzsT.htm That allone is about 26,885$, and confirmed by the blockchain itself.

If you disagree with my numbers, please provide proof or reason. I did.
