1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2Th/s Preorder worth it? on: January 13, 2014, 04:57:06 AM
Butterfly labs or hashfast... But I feel less confident in their ability to follow through. I have been looking at potentially trading for fun. I am trying to learn more about it for more seasoned traders but haven't had much luck yet.

Ahhhhh... Don't make me second guess myself.. Haha.

Thanks for the responses. I am fine currently mining at 115gh/s...I have searched a lot a I agree that Cointerra is the only company I am willing to purchase from. I may be addicted to mining at this point and will probably order a May batch. I saw april sell out... that's what I get for waiting.  Hashfast seemed somewhat promising but there is too much drama surrounding them now.

I'm thinking that even if difficulty gets crazy (as expected) the demand for nice rigs will still be there with more and more people getting introduced to bitcoin.

Order never shipped and was cancelled by aliexpress. Wrote the seller and they also never responded. They have antminers listed for like $700...definitely fake. It was worth a try though!

Ordered one for S&Gs....I will let you know what happens.

I was looking at that website today. They do offer buyer protection but I read a bunch of reviews where they ask for proof and when the proof of ripoff was supplied they claimed it was insufficient. Let us know how it goes.

I think I am realizing that addiction is starting to set in for me... Split a cube with a buddy a few weeks ago.. Then bought 1 solo... Then another. Looked at ants a thousand times... More cubes... Every preorder available. I am trying to pull myself back. I am starting to get the feeling that I can't keep up with the difficulty. I know this should be treated as a hobby... For now... But it is hard to stop this bug. I check on the cubes more than my kids. I really enjoy it but where does it stop? I feel way behind the curve at only 115ghash. I've been back an forth on multiple preorders for Th/s. I'm right there with u. I'm at work and thinking about mining won't let me focus on my actual job!

I would love to see where this is listed! If you don't mind sharing.

I have read a lot recently about difficulty increases in the near future. I looked at the recent increases in difficulty and it kinda surprised me... 20-30% increases seem pretty regular. I guess I never really considered how bad this affects my mining. I currently mine at about only 115ghash. I was looking to preorder a 2thash unit but with delivery in April and the amount of large miners hitting the market around then I wonder if that 2th unit will yield about the same as what I am getting now? I did really rough math and I know predicting the future is impossible but with about 6 or more difficulty increases until an Aprilish delivery and a 20% or more loss in profits every difficulty I feel like it may be a loss. I would appreciate any feedback on this. Any others already preorder that feel this way? I definitely have the Bitcoin bug and it is on my mind all the time ( yes I am at work right now.. Ha). I already understand the risks of the preorder market and I am trying to be smart about this purchase even though I just want to pull the trigger and order it! Let me know what you all think. Thanks

Not exactly sure what you mean...the Corsair TX750 has 4 different 6pin pcie connectors. I have 2 going to one cube and 2going to the other. Plugged directly into the cube. The cube came with a jumpstart connector to keep the PSU on at all times. This is just a blank plug that goes onto the 24pin connector. There should be no modifications needed.  Hope this helps.
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Question on stratum vs getwork on: December 31, 2013, 06:00:34 AM
Hello all,

I am currently mining on Slush's pool and using the Slush's mining proxy. I am unsure about if the proxy is setup to automatically run stratum or do I need to change it? Currently I have my Block Erupter cubes setup for port 8332 and just open the proxy with no need for a .bat file. This is what the proxy reads:

2013-12-30 23:40:38,530 INFO proxy getwork_listener._on_authorized # Worker 'jbbasics.worker1' asks for new work
2013-12-30 23:40:38,539 INFO proxy getwork_listener._on_authorized # Worker 'jbbasics.worker1' asks for new work
2013-12-30 23:40:38,549 INFO proxy jobs.submit # Submitting 6c0be921
2013-12-30 23:40:38,549 WARNING proxy getwork_listener._on_submit # [0ms] Share from 'jbbasics.worker1' accepted, diff 71

I am wondering if it is using getwork vice stratum? Excuse my ignorance on this subject...I have read a few things on stratum vs getwork and still haven't really wrapped my head around it. As far as I can tell stratum is suppose to be better using less bandwith, faster mining, and easier on the server. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Do I need to make a .bat file for running stratum such as:

.\mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.bitcoin.cz -p 3333

I seem to be getting my expected hashrate but just wanted to make sure I was optimizing the miner. Thank you for your help in advance!

I would try using slush's mining proxy and try mining with slush. I have had good luck with this method using no mining software. I get 38.6ghash on each cube overclocked with 2 cubes on a 750W corsair PSU. I have noticed that if the ambient temperature is even warm that this drops closer to high 37ghash. I keep a floor fan on the cubes and it definitely helps. I have noticed connection issues with bitminter but none with slush. Hope this helps.
