1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: February 23, 2018, 11:13:57 PM
Does anyone have some addnodes? I need to re-sync and it's not finding any.  The last ones I could find going through previous post were from 2 forks ago.

Thanks

pretty strange, wallet 2.3.0.0 usually can sync w/o addnodes.
try these:

addnode=5.103.138.97:7685
addnode=62.64.86.44:7685
addnode=62.210.122.161:7685
addnode=69.181.165.105:7685
addnode=69.197.188.186:7685
addnode=107.9.197.104:7685
addnode=188.165.235.208:7685
addnode=188.241.58.126:7685

That did it. It's syncing. Immediately, too. After the first couple tries, I added the 3 permanent nodes from page 1, but that didn't work either. I shut it down, added those nodes to the 3 permanent nodes I already had and deleted the existing empty blockchain it had built previously. I restarted it, it found multiple connections right away, and started synching. I guess in about 3 or 4 days I'll be good again.  Thanks!

Clapperhead has a point.  There is an opportunity or two here, possibly huge ones.

The wallet in my pocket never gets forked.  If my bank was ever "on the wrong fork" so to speak, there would be hell to pay.  But in the crypto-community, this is normal.  Pretty much every coin has had fork issues at some point.  You can blame bad guys and you can blame people who don't update the wallet, and you can blame 51% attacks, but the problem is the blockchain system allows forks.  I don't know the answer to this, but this needs to get fixed or cryptocurrency will never get any real acceptance.  Sure, there are a lot of people mining and a lot of people trading.  It's a tiny niche.  There are a million times as many people safely doing online banking every day without any fear of having their bank get forked.

And about wallet updates, it's normal for wallet updates to get released without really alerting people about the updates.  Sure, you post here and maybe some other places, but there is no alert that there is any issue.  I've got 20 wallets.  I don't check the posts for them all every day, it would take too long.  I don't even check them all every week, just the ones that have issues, have pending updates I know about, and a handful that are either hot or in trouble.  Some of them I never check.  The last time I checked the bitcoin thread or their website was when they released a new wallet.  The time before that was like a year ago.  I haven't looked at the Litecoin thread in like 2 years.

Sometimes those wallet updates will result in lost coins if not acted on promptly.  People lost Rubies when Ruby switched to POS.  If you didn't update by a certain date, you were out of luck.  I think the same happened with the Saturncoin to Saturncoin2 migration.  Granted, these are isolated cases involving hard forks, but if a person just had some coins in there wallet and wasn't actively involved with those coins, they were just out of luck.  They lost their coins.  That would not be acceptable at a bank.

I've seen wallets post messages.  I think about two months ago, the Zeitcoin wallet started giving me a message every time I started it about a Zeit-Knight event where new Zeit Knights would be anounced.  And there was an update.  That worked out great.  I updated my wallet.  Apparently a month ago, there was another update, but no message this time.  I only know about it right now because I just checked the thread to get a date for when the Zeit-Knight thing happened.  Ooops.  I guess I'll be updating that wallet.  Knowing that they have messaging technology, why the hell wouldn't they use it?

I think the real question is why doesn't every coin dev team use messaging technology to send messages directly to peoples wallets so they really have no excuse not to update?

So there are two possible enhancements that would help Diamond differentiate from all the other coins and possibly gain some traction as a form of currency that regular people might feel comfortable about using.  The messaging update is probably simple.  The code already exists, it just needs to be implemented and used regularly.

Why does the Cryptsy starcoin info page show a bank for starcoin markets?

https://www.cryptsy.com/currencies/view/STR

That area is blank for 5 I checked, including LTC and DOGE.  I don't think it's used for anything or means anything.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks on: March 28, 2015, 04:34:04 PM
@ Henle do you happen to know who the current developer is? I would like to get in touch with him by email.

My wallet did sync btw, I hadn't opened it in some time but added the updated nodes and left it running overnight.

In May/June 2014, mcpackin published a pair of updates with help from bee7, veremit and sirnubbles.  Mcpackin hasn't posted at all since June.  Bee7 hasn't posted here since June, but has posted about Graincoin in February (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=636580.msg10338499#msg10338499).  infinitevs appears to be on the team too.  He posted in January 2015 that there would be a new revision in the next month or two.

9 months is a really long time to not post about your own coin.  It would be nice to hear from mcpackin or bee7, or at least an update from infinitevs, but I wouldn't give up hope yet.  Infinitevs said they were busy with work commitments, and they're really not that late yet, but a little communication would be great and there is work that needs to be done to keep the coin alive.

I think Cryptsy is the only exchange that has StarCoin listed, and I don't think their wallet is working right.  I think they may be using an old wallet that had problems.  And while our dev is working with Cryptsy, changing StarCoin from STR to STAR would probably be a good idea to prevent confusion with Stellar, which is STR on Poloniex and Bittrex.  And we need a block explorer.  And the checkpoint warning has persisted for like a year.  It should get fixed.

I think the only think I might be able to help with on that list is maybe possibly setting up a block explorer, but I don't have a server to host it on, and @infinitevs said they were working on that anyway.

any idea where to download starcoin-qt.exe?
I can only find the github stuff and I have no idea  how to compile this into a windows compatible version.

There are windows zip files in github:
32 bit - https://github.com/strcoin/starcoin/releases/download/v1.7.1.0-str/starcoin-1.7.1.0-win32.zip
64 bit - https://github.com/strcoin/starcoin/releases/download/v1.7.1.0-str/starcoin-1.7.1.0-win64.zip

edit - it takes a long time for the wallet to open, so just be patient.  Just let it run over night.  If you have addnodes, it will open and sync eventually. There is probably a ton of bloat in the block chain from millions of .001 STR minting transactions.

For nodes, I'm using:
addnode=107.170.3.87
addnode=95.27.95.182
addnode=173.208.172.242
addnode=50.149.31.242
addnode=192.99.13.127
addnode=54.209.148.72
addnode=201.213.232.241
addnode=124.198.136.100
addnode=107.170.195.237
addnode=74.208.250.49
addnode=198.199.110.176

Good luck

I'm having a problem opening the wallet.  I'm just getting a white screen.  The title bar says "Zeitcoin - Wallet (Not Responding)".  It's wallet version 2.0.1.5 Gauntlet on Windows 7 Pro x64.  It popped up a message earlier about Proof of ZeitKnight and wouldn't sync so I closed it and re-opened it, and now I just get a white screen with no words and no graphics - no nothing.  Taskmanager says it's using about 15-25% of CPU and 439 MB of ram.

Any ideas?

Thanks, and congratulations to our new ZeitKnights!
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MANDATORY UPDATE ██ ZEITCOIN MOVEMENT [FULLY POS] ██ on: December 22, 2014, 01:09:37 PM
I updated the wallet and proceeded to resync.  it found a couple old nodes, so I deleted everything in my appdata folder except wallet.dat and added in the posted block chain files and proceeded to resync again.

Does anyone have addnodes that are on the new wallet?  All the ones it's finding are
"version" : 60006,
"subver" : "/Zeitcoin:0.7.2/", or

"version" : 0,
"subver" : "",

I think I'm going to be forked from the get-go.

Updated 2nd version of diamond-qt-2.0.4.exe works on the first try.  I got the original version over a week ago.  popshot posted it, with no mention of release candidate or beta.

I bet Cryptsy is using the nonfunctional first version also.  If so, good luck explaining that one.

I am having the same issue as Mister1K, but I make it to block 577851 and then it hangs.

I tried using Sep.21.2014.Diamond.zip from the op, and I tried dmdchain20140923-clean.zip.

I tried using -repairwallet.  I tried -checkblock=0 -checklevel=6 from the readme in dmdchain20140923-clean.zip.  I even tried using an old copy of the wallet to make sure the wallet wasn't corrupted.  Same results every time.

diamond.conf:
server=1
rpcuser=xxx
rpcpassword=xxx
rpcport=17772
listen=1
noirc=1
addnode=193.68.21.19
addnode=54.191.208.14
addnode=54.255.133.30
addnode=54.86.164.216
connect=193.68.21.19
connect=54.191.208.14
connect=54.255.133.30
connect=54.86.164.216
bantime=600
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.1.5
rpcallowip=192.168.1.6
rpcallowip=192.168.1.7
rpcallowip=192.168.1.14
rpcallowip=192.168.1.129
rpcallowip=192.168.1.*

Every time I end up with one connection to 193.68.21.19 and an on again/off again connection to 193.68.21.19:17772.

Some help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Damn.  Pretty sure I'm forked.  I have 4 connections (8 a minute ago), so I'm not alone.  I'm using version 2.0.4, and I was fine up until last night.  I solo mined about 600 diamond last night.  What a shame they're not real.

Guess I'll re-download the blockchain.  Again.  I thought this wasn't supposed to happen any more.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ ANN ] SATē - A new dawn - PoS - No Premine on: June 28, 2014, 04:52:27 PM
Can the old wallet and the new wallet be open at the same time?  Waiting for a MintPal deposit to post.  May need the transaction details to help them post it.

And what do we use for a .conf file?  Does Saturn2Coin use the same rpc port?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: June 28, 2014, 06:22:22 AM
my wallet dont work

assertion failed!

file:src\kernel.cpp,line 412

Expression: pindex->getblockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)

When this happens, the safest way out is to re-index the block chain. Either do a full download again or, (faster) delete blkindex.dat and run diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat
That will take some long time, while rebuilding the index.

We will address this problem ASAP.

I need help please and I am new at this,

I am having this problem also, was using the latest wallet and all was working fine till today, haven't tried minting yet.
I also can't find the conf. file in the diamond file and I have the option ticked to show hidden files and folders.

Trying to understand what to do, am new at so don't make it hard and make it understandable so someone who knows nothing can follow your instructions.

Option 1- Full download, does this mean deleting the whole diamond file but first saving the wallet and replace wallet after download. And I expect download is from the new diamond site. Or can you just download new wallet and it will overwrite everything, then delete and replace wallet with original one.

Option 2 - Delete blkindex.dat and run "diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat".  Deleting the blkindex.dat file is easy but describe how to run "diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat"

Can you also let me know why I can't find the conf. file even with the file view option ticked to show hidden files and folders.

Thanks

Assuming you're using Windows...

The .conf file - you have to make it.
 1. Go into your Roaming\Diamond folder (C:\Users\YourLoginName\AppData\Roaming\Diamond)
 2. Right click, New Text Document.
 3. Rename it diamond.conf
 4. Right click it, Edit.
 5. Paste in what's posted in the original post (the "op").
 6. Save
 7. Restart the wallet.  Changes to the .conf file don't take place until you restart.

Full download - simple - delete everything in the Roaming\Diamond folder except wallet.dat and diamond.conf and start the wallet.  This will take quite some time.  If you have a fast internet connection, probably around 460 minutes.

Or, a little more complicated - to save a lot of time by downloading almost all of the blockchain, you need either Original.rar or a functional blk0001.dat, which you'd find in previous posts, along with instructions.  You should always check the previous posts first or you will get very curt responses.  Cryptonit posted a blockchain with instructions on page 11/12/13 and popshot just posted one recently, but some people have been unsuccessful with the recent one.  Original.rar can be obtained in post 1218 on page 61.

Basically, you're sticking someone else's blockchain in your Roaming\Diamond folder and then reindexing and syncing with the network.  It probably takes a half an hour or less instead of 8+ hours.  These files all came from the coin's devs, so there won't be any issues with them.

To "import" the downloaded blockchain, you'd start the wallet (just one time) either in a cmd prompt or using a batch file something like:
c:\PathToDiamond-QT.exe\diamond-qt.exe -loadblock=blk0001.dat.
(replace PathToDiamond-QT.exe with wherever you put it.  Mine is in E:\Users\John\Downloads\Diamond v.2.0.2.1\)
(if you have a space in your path, the .bat file is probably going to give you problems.)

Good luck.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: June 28, 2014, 03:26:32 AM
I originally let the wallet just run without doing anything, hoping the blockchain issue would work itself out.  It did, as previously reported by others.  Then I had to restart the pc, and the wallet wouldn't open.  Same error as others have posted.

This worked for me, so far, with a couple wallet close/wait a minute/restart wallets:
I backed up the whole roaming/Diamond directory, then deleted everything except Diamond.conf and wallet.dat
I added only the one indicated addnode to diamond.conf(addnode=193.68.21.19), so there was only one.
I added all the files and the database folder from Original.rar and let it resync using
    diamond-qt.exe -loadblock=blk0001.dat.
I "lost" about 2/3 of my coins from my balance, but the transactions were still visible.
I closed the wallet, waited 1 minute, then opened it again using diamond-qt.exe -repairwallet

This worked.  My balance is correct, including some Diamonds minted yesterday 6/26.
I closed the wallet, waited 1 minute, then restarted it with just diamond-qt.exe.  It opened, and the balance was still correct.
So I did it again to be sure.  Closed the wallet, waited, restarted the wallet.  It's still good for me.

I assume since I only have one addnode I am on the right chain.  I have the same checkpoint info utahjohn and paladin281978 have posted:
{
"synccheckpoint" : "000000005babbddb5baad7bb9632738ab901b2f9eb3acfd2f390b2f4a97f1eee",
"height" : 463183,
"timestamp" : "2014-06-26 16:46:41 UTC"
}

getpeerinfo gives me 6 peers all running the right "subver" : "/Diamond:2.0.2.1/",

Can popshot, cryptonit, or Danbi confirm that's correct?

The only issue is now I have a whole mess of orphaned mint transactions from yesterday listed as my most recent transactions, even though they are not.  Someone else asked, with no reply, is there any way to get rid of them, or at least make them sort properly in date order so they disappear off the screen over time?

18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dualminer on: May 30, 2014, 04:58:00 PM
I think the simplest thing to do to get started would be to install multiminer by nwools (http://www.multiminerapp.com/).  It's easy to set up, will recognize the dualminers, and you don't need to mess around with a million bat files on your desktop.

Can someone please help me on how to setup Minerd to mine Diamond coin? what are the Bat settings?

c:/whateverpathyousetup/minerd -a groestl -o http://dmdpool.digsys.bg:3345 -u User.Worker -p Password -t 2

This would be for Danbi's getwork pool with 2 threads (-t 2).  If you have a quad core CPU, make it -t 4.

You can mine on the CPU and use cgminer/bfgminer/sgminer/etc. to mine with your GPU also.

Good luck.  14 cores (mostly AMD) get me about 1 DMD per day.  But it's better than mining XPM.

sorryforthat - I see the vote, but I can't vote.  Unless I clicked on it while remoting in to my pc while it was mining by mistake.  I hope I'm not the "No"...

Edric - Thank you for all the work you've put into this.  Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch.  It will work itself out.  It may not all come out the way you wanted, but all the problems will work themselves out in time.  Fix what you can, try not to make anything worse, and don't dwell on stuff you can't change.  I wish you the best.  And there is still time to build a new pile of Birdcoin.  I picked up about 5 Million in 6 hours yesterday, and I've only got 2Mh/s.  I think you mentioned you're PC is dead.  Rent some hash power if you need to.   The opportunity is still there.
