Lasershurt - quit feeding the troll. Ignore and move on.

Curecoin is one of the alts that needs to be explained.
I suggest we get a good video promotion running. Do we have any videos that explain the implications of curecoin's research?

Next, we can get some buzz from reddit. We can post the video in the TIL subreddit (I am sure it will prove successful with a good video).

I am willing 2 contribute some BTC toward a vid.

I've got (what I think is) a pretty good idea for a presentation package for Curecoin, whether you're addressing an individual who is completely new to both cryptocurrencies and folding, or addressing a room full of investors who know some of the background and already have an inside track on bitcoin. I'm gonna run it by the devs later today once I'm off work, see what they think. Should be easy enough make a video from the material.

Hoping a trusted dev could vet the Mac wallet.  Has anyone been using it?

Since there's only like 6 people who actually use a Mac, the odds of one of the developers having one would be virtually nil.

I kid.

Seriously - you have anti-virus software right? Scan it yourself before opening it. Test it out to see if it works. Oh wait Macs dont get viruses right? Smiley

Added to OP the start of the public ledger that will eventually be displayed on curecoin.info.

There's your curecoin donor payout transparency list. Sweet.

Modifying the team name of F@H - I think that's a bad idea, and frankly insults people's intelligence. And it smacks of desperation. The amount of folding being done by the Curecoin team alone has already shattered several records and the coin is only a week old, so obviously a lot of people understand what folding for the Curecoin team entails. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And it ain't broke.

Ok, fair enough.  Not being a folder myself (old mac laptop) I'm not clued into how much attention folders pay to the charts.  Maybe it is already getting plenty of attention there.

it is Smiley Take a look here - http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php - Curecoin team is already #50 in overall top ranked teams (by points total) and climbing fast. if you sort that list by WU's (work units) generated in a 24 hour period, we blow everyone else out of the water by a huge margin. The team is doing well.

Trying to recruit folders from others teams is not the way to do things. The success of this project will stand up on its own merits; if people want to join they'll do so of their own volition. And by all accounts that's already happened in a very big way.

Guys, can You please give us more details about the IPO distribution  Huh So far it has been mentioned it is not going to be released at once which makes sense and would be the wise thing to do. But no one from the Curecoin team has actually confirmed that. Now how can I or anyone else make a educated investment decision if I dont know if the supply is going to rise 800% over a day or the funds are distributed in small pieces over a year or smth. It's pretty obvious there wont be any significant buy support until things like these are not made clear.

I liked Matt's idea of promoting the coin in the folders community by modifying the teams name.
The coin it self and our folding results should be interesting enough to get some media attention. Have you contacted Coindesk, Local newspaper, Tech and gadget websites ? If Arstechnica, The Verge, Gizmodo etc are consantly writing about Doge why not about this ?
Overall I think a coin like this will market it self once all the uncertainty is removed and trading gets some traction. Could you please just clarify all the constant questions about the IPO and Folding funds distribution in more detail in the OP ?

Also, I have asked this once before but got no answer: How does the network balancing between mining and folding work ?

I'll only answer what I feel confident in answering - I'm not a dev.

More PR - can't agree more. Just know that there's work being done in this regard. There's nothing stopping you, me, or anyone reading this post from contacting every site you just mentioned and letting them know about Curecoin. Get to it. I've done a lil bit of the same and plan on doing a lot more.

Network balancing between mined Curecoin and what's distributed via folding - here's how I *think* it works: there is no network balancing. Folding for curecoins doesn't actually produce them; they have already been pre-mined for the explicit purpose to be distributed to those who fold for the Curecoin team. So the only network for the coin as of *this post* is what people have mined via regular methods (ASIC's). Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but the coins set aside for folding distribution are in cold storage and only the amount needed each day for distribution are brought out.

Now, when Curecoin hits day 31, all of the Curecoin sitting in peoples wallets will be able to start Proof of Stake minting. When that starts is when the curecoin network will start to become much more secure than it stands right now. It will work the exact same way as Peercoin does.

Hope that helps.

Stop feeding the trolls.

While this forum is a good place to get the word out about any new project, it's also prime hunting ground for those who like to troll, spread FUD, or just make posts soley for the sake of messing with others. So basically it's just like any other forum on the internet with a large number of users.

For those of you that believe in the potential of this coin - stop replying to the trolls. Focus on the legitmate questions for help or better understanding of the coin.

There are several good questions (and answers) in this thread, but they are starting to become buried. Some still need to be addressed - I am a firm believer in this coin, but having a legitimate blockchain explorer and an official listing of the addresses tied to the pre-mined coins is a must. A couple different people have asked this question but in ways that make them seem like all the other trolls. One address has been made public (the investor address) and an unofficial blockchain explorer - good start but needs more work.

I hear it's a PPC fork, so you can unlock only for PoS minting using the console.

Follow this guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187714.0

Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
i wait for this confirmation to...

YES you use the same console command to unlock the curecoin wallet for minting as you do for peercoin.

In console, type this - walletpassphrase <yourpasswordhere> 99999999 true - hit enter. Give it a minute or so for the wallet to unlock. Good to go.

Remember that your coin-age has to be at a minimum of 30 days to start minting. Receiving coins to your wallet is fine; if you send any out/spend them, it will reset all of your coins back to day zero. Just like peercoin. So keep that in mind.

gotcha, has anyone here tried folding with a 750 ti?  I get about 16919 ppd with my 750 ti on 0x15.

if anyone has had any luck getting 0x17 with a 750 ti I would appreciate any insight, thanks again guys

My understanding is that the current 0x17 core does not like the Maxwell chip in the 750ti. The folding@home team is working on a solution, and there's a beta 0x17 core you can try. I am firing up a pair of 750ti's I just acquired tonight, so I'll be doing my own tests with them. if I find out anything useful I'll post it here. In the meantime, search the folding@home forum for '750ti' to see the current discussions regarding it and what progress has been made. getting ready to do that myself, it's been a few days since I checked back there.

Newbie question:

What is the current fair price to obtain 1 cure coin? I am not asking the potential price just the current fair market value based on cost of production..

Thank you!

Check page one of this thread, there's a current listing of exchanges that carry this coin to date in the announcement post.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 14, 2014, 11:29:18 AM
A newbie question.....

Can i use 2 different machines with the same User through the web app?

both of them are showing folding in process but the total points count did not change so much since than.

You can use as many machines as you want, just use the same username and passkey on each so they all fold to the same account.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 13, 2014, 02:48:08 PM
You can not mine Curecoin with a graphics card, you need to be running folding@home that is outlined in the OP

Technically you can use your GPU (or even CPU) to obtain Curecoin via mining, it's just not feasible to do that anymore with any SHA-256 based coin.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 13, 2014, 12:28:48 PM
I did not know Curecoin had a POS!! Where did this come from?

It was mentioned in the initial announcement post in this thread, minus the actual details. Which is why i was asking about it last night on IRC Smiley If one of the devs could update the announcement post with all of the details concerning the PoS aspect of the coin, that'd be great and would avoid a lil bit of confusion.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 13, 2014, 11:59:50 AM
Does anyone know how the POS works with curecoin, I can't seem to find details anywhere

I asked this in the #curecoin IRC channel last night. Apparently it's exactly like Peercoin's proof of stake system - coins have to age to 30 days before they can start minting, 90 days max age. Approx 1% 'interest' per year earned minting based on aged coins in your wallet.

If any of this needs to be corrected, devs please step in.

I'm kinda glad this didn't launch right at 2pm EST... I've been planting trees and digging up rocks for the last three hours, checking my email every 10 minutes hah Smiley

I'm ready. Beer in hand. Let's go Tongue
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Curecoin Launch is T minus 5-7 days. The new crypto 3.0 PRE ANN on: May 10, 2014, 01:29:49 AM
I'm curious about the folding coins being premined - how will that be managed - if the coin bloats in value what is to keep a developer with access from selling a bunch of coins and getting a bunch of money before running.

Integrity, plain and simple. And the rest of us will have to put faith in and trust that the dev team have the integrity to reserve the 76% that were pre-mined for those that fold. If that 76% were to suddenly be dumped onto the market, there would be nothing for folders to receive, and it would completely destroy this project. Which would completely invalidate all of the work the dev team has been doing for the last several months. To the devs - transparency is KEY. This has to be addressed, those mining/folding for this coin need to see the wallet address where the pre-mined coins are stored and be able to follow the transactions in its blockchain.

In my opinion, the feeling that I get is that we can trust the devs to do the right thing. Believe me when I say that if my instincts were different, I would have no problem calling them out on it (see my posts on the Aphrodite scam coin thread).

As with any alt coin release, I can fully understand yours and anyone else's concerns. If you want to play it safe, don't invest any more resources into obtaining this coin then what you can afford to spend (mining/folding/investing on an exchange). Or don't mine/fold for it at all. I for one plan to mine the shit out of it.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Curecoin Launch is T minus 5-7 days. The new crypto 3.0 PRE ANN on: May 08, 2014, 02:41:31 AM
Several months ago I remember reading on the curecoin website that this coin would be proof of stake as well as proof of work like peercoin. If that's true, then having a bunch of ASIC's mining wouldn't be required to secure the network. A single raspberry Pi could do that.

I asked earlier in this thread if curecoin was still PoW/PoS or just PoW like bitcoin. Hoping all of that will be revealed at or right before launch.

Also, there's a legitimate reason why this coin isn't using 'newer' technology like scrypt/scrypt-N/etc - it's because folding requires use of your CPU/GPU. If curecoin were an scrypt-based coin, some folders would point their folding rigs at mining the coin directly instead, and taking away from the most important part of this whole thing. The dev's seem to be on the right track with this coin. I really hope it works out, as people who fold could now potentially be compensated for the time and money spent helping to find cures for various diseases.
20  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGRemote - Remote Miner Management from the Developer of CGWatcher on: May 06, 2014, 01:33:03 PM
From what I understand, you should be able to connect to all six of them by setting them up in CGRemote using their individual IP addresses along with 4028 as the port.

Yes you can, no problem. I have eight S1's all being monitored by CGRemote, all on port 4028. The how-to I wrote for my community members can be found here - https://www.hardfought.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=7780
