I already donated a lot of money to https://thewaterproject.org/donate-bitcoin and what I like about their service is that they are accepting 4 other Alt coins for donations too. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I got some FREE fork coins after the Bitcoin fork and I donated a lot of the BCash that I received to their water projects. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) <They also generate a receipt that you can use for tax purposes> I see your site wants you to login with Social media accounts and that might be an option that some people would want to avoid. Staying anonymous, helps people to prevent situations where information about them might get into the wrong hands <scammers> and that they might get bombarded with fake sites that wants "donations" for fake projects. That's great that you are supporting The Water Project! They are our one of our earliest partners, and we supported three projects with them in Kenya over the years. For donating other cryptos - GiveTrack has a direct integration with Uphold, and you can donate in now 50 different currencies - both crypto and fiat. Here's a list of all the supported currencies - https://support.uphold.com/hc/en-us/articles/202473803-Supported-currencies GiveTrack also issues a receipt upon donating, once the transaction is confirmed on the bitcoin network. You are not required to sign up via social media, it's provided as an option for those who enjoy the ease of that type of registration, but not necessary. You can sign up using an email address instead, and you can easily opt-in to be anonymous to the public, as a setting in your profile. Unfortunately US regulations require that we gather at least some information from a donor. We are also GDPR compliant, which are the strictest data privacy regulations in the world, so your data is safe. As a nonprofit ourselves, we've worked very hard to check all the boxes on a resource-constrained budget, and we are proud to offer all these different options, ways to donate, and services to further the use of bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology in the charitable sector.

Is there any way to donate to the people donating, that would be cool. This like a gofund me for bitcoin, I like it.
Hi and thanks for commenting! We do not have a way to donate to donors. I'm not sure I understand the need for donating to the people that donate. Is the ask to donate bitcoin to someone that has already donated bitcoin to a project on GiveTrack? Or is the ask to give bitcoin to someone who will then donate that bitcoin to a project on GiveTrack? Apologies for the confusion. All the best, Jay BitGive

Hi All! Jay here from the BitGive Foundation. We are hoping to learn more about how the bitcoin community interacts with charities. Are you interested in donating Bitcoin to a charity, how do you want to donate, what types of charities do you care about, etc? A little background on me. I have been involved in bitcoin since 2012. Similar to most it was a curiosity at first and soon became a passion. I host bitcoin meetups, operate a full node, mine (as a hobby), work on a few bitcoin projects, and mostly am an ambassador for Bitcoin. I was interested in the BitGive Foundation immediately when I spoke with Connie (the founder) after learning about the GiveTrack crowdfunding platform she created. I found it refreshing to learn of a web app for Bitcoin that wasn't simply a transaction for goods and services. Instead she had built a platform to take advantage of the blockchain's transparency and aligned it with the problem of donors trusting a charity. For example, how can we be sure 100% of a donation is received by a charity? Using GiveTrack you can watch the flow of donations go from donor to the charity's bitcoin wallet and on to how it is spent. One of the challenges we have faced over the past year is funding active projects. It may be a lack of awareness in the community, but we've never reached out directly and asked. If you have a free moment (about a minute), we would love your feedback on a quick six question survey. Please comment below with any questions and I will reply back as quickly as possible. Thanks so much! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FWSWLPX

Hello! You can donate - in BTC or crypto - to registered charities to offset your gains! What is better - give it to the government or give it to charity?! We put this blog out in November, it might be slightly out of date (for example Libra Tax is closing down their legacy system and shifting to enterprise), but it lays out the basics. https://www.bitgivefoundation.org/wondering-about-crypto-gains-and-taxes/ Thanks! Sorry I don't hang out on here much. BitGive has been around for 4 years and as a startup has evolved a lot over time. The short answer is that when we did charity campaigns, we had separate wallets for them and 100% of the funds went to them. BitGive has it's own wallet as well and people can contribute to our org to keep it going! Now and for the past few years, we have been 100% focused on building GiveTrack, which is a donation platform on the blockchain to allow charities to share financial transparency with their donors. We are working hard on the MVP and hope to release it soon. Please find out more on our website https://bitgivefoundation.org/. We are a small team and need to stay focused on our mission and don't spend much time here. Thanks! Connie

Hi All - Thanks for your interest! If you go to the link in my original post it explains everything The 1% is not out of the buyer's pocket at all. The first 0.5% is from Amazon (after you sign up for BitGive - or any charity - on Amazon Smile), the link to do so is provided. The other 0.5% is matched by Libra http://libratax.com/ to BitGive! You save money by using Purse and get discounts on Amazon regardless - the 1% is an extra bonus opportunity to donate to charity with no $ out of your pocket. As far as our financials, we are a very young start up nonprofit and only just hired our first staff person in November, so I assure you no one is making millions - LOL!! We released an annual report - http://bitgivefoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/FY2013-14-AR.pdf for our first year that is on our website (please note this report is for July 2013-June 2014). It isn't much since it was our first year, and we had only volunteer staff, but we are doing our best to be transparent and share our successes with the community. Our second fiscal year will close at the end of this June, and we will release another annual report by mid-November when we file all our paperwork with the IRS. We are a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt nonprofit in the US and this requires a lot of compliance and paperwork, etc. Thanks for support! Connie Gallippi Founder and Executive Director BitGive Foundation

Thank you so much. It's so great to hear support for our work and how it represents the Bitcoin community in a positive way. We strive very hard to be an organization that the community is proud to have.
I also got to use MPesa and BitPesa while in Kenya, and it was super easy! MPesa is completely embedded in the culture and daily routine there, so opening it up to Bitcoin with BitPesa is brilliant!
Thanks again for the supportive words!

Hi All, I haven't posted here in awhile! Wanted to share this great 4-part series we put out this week on BitGive and the Bitcoin-funded water well just completed in Kenya! There were several threads and efforts on this forum that contributed to us and our work, so thank you and thank you to all the donors! We also are producing a video about the water well, and have a short trailer released now. The longer video will be coming out later this year. Video production is sponsored by BitPesa and LibraTax. Our Blog is a great place to access all four parts in the Bitcoin Magazine series and the video as well - all in one click! http://bitgivefoundation.org/2015/03/happy-world-water-day-share-in-our-kenya-experience/Thanks for all the support! Okay, Folks! Today is the last day you can donate for a write-off on your 2014 taxes! BitGive Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit approved by the IRS, so we can offer US taxpayers a tax deduction for your donation! LibraTax has provided an easy way to calculate your taxable gains in BTC and how much you can donate to offset those gains. People keep asking me "who has gains in 2014?" Well, sorry to break it to you, but if you bought coins, even in previous years, that are worth more now than what you paid, you have gains. The good news is instead of paying taxes on those gains, you can donate to an approved 501(c)(3) and offset your gains. So, instead of paying the US Government, you are donating to a #Bitcoin charity!Learn how to calculate your gains here - http://www.libratax.com/blog/digital-currency-donations-good-society-good-personal-finances/EDIT - Great article in Forbes about this - http://www.forbes.com/sites/janetnovack/2014/12/22/how-to-donate-bitcoin-to-charity-and-get-a-big-tax-deduction/Donate to the FIRST BITCOIN 501 (c)(3) BitGive Foundation here - http://bitgivefoundation.org/donate-now/Connie Gallippi Founder & Executive Director BitGive Foundation

Are you ready for #BitcoinGivingTuesday? December 2nd! http://www.bitcoingivingtuesday.org/It's the first annual Bitcoin Giving Tuesday! Support our campaign for nonprofit charity Medic Mobile - providing cell phones to health workers in third world countries - saving lives through technology! Other well-known charities are now accepting Bitcoin, including Save the Children, American Red Cross, United Way, The Water Project, and more! Happy Bitcoin Holidays! Connie Gallippi Founder & Executive Director BitGive Foundation www.bitgivefoundation.org So it's today. Nearly forgot. Sent some small donation, hope that helps. It would be useful if the website for bitcoin giving Tuesday had a donation link/address. It only has 'Join the movement' button which asks for the name/email. So I just went to official BitGive website and donated to: 1PEoUKNxTZsc5rFSQvQjeTVwDE9vEDCRWm Thank you for your donation to BitGive! If you scroll down on the website, there were 42 charities to choose from and they each have their own donation pages and wallet addresses. Thanks for supporting the event!
