1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Multicoin P2Pool - Hashp2p.com [1.5%] on: January 16, 2014, 08:35:47 AM
Hey Everyone!

I'm pleased to announce a multicoin p2pool I've been working on. Litecoin, Dogecoin, Digitalcoin & 42coin are currently up and running. More coins will be added in the near future. I will also take requests for any pools you wish to see added. Main website and stats page are mobile friendly so you can view your stats on the go.

You can view a current list of the available coins as well as the port information on the home page http://hashp2p.com

The pools are hosted on a very large dedicated server in Atlanta Georgia, so you should experience very low ping and stale rate.
The website is still under construction, however the pools or rock solid. New information, such as guides and FAQ's will be added within the next couple of days.

For those of you not familiar with P2Pools, they are simply a network of nodes all working together to solve blocks. The shares are paid out directly to your wallet address. There is no waiting for payouts. You will receive the coins as soon as the block is solved.

An example cgminer configuration is:
cgminer -scrypt -o http://hashp2p.com:3000 -u walletaddress -p anypassword

Feel free to test it out and stick around if you enjoy it. Stay tuned for future coin and feature announcements.

Enjoy Smiley

I'd prefer a USB stick, because they are somewhat resistant to fire.  Maybe a paper wallet in addition to USB stick, then if one fails u have the other?

Yeah I had a sony usb drive fail on me after only 2 months so I'm a little wary of using usb storage. What I would do is just put my paper wallet into a metal safe if you're worried about a fire.

I'd have to agree, I've had usb drives fail after 1 week before. Then gain I've had some for years that are still working fine. I would definitely have a paper wallet in addition to your usb drive.

I personally mine a variety of alt coins and trade up to bitcoins via cryptsy. Currently mining using 3x 7950's at around 1800 Mh/s.

Unless I am actively trading that particular currency, I keep all of my coins locally on a dedicated machine with an offline backup. I've heard too many stories of people using online wallets with companies that simply poof overnight.

I've been using cryptsy to trade alt coins up to bitcoins for the last 2 weeks or so. So far so good. Fairly quick on the deposits and almost instantaneous trades.
