1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: the future of bitcoin forks? on: June 04, 2018, 08:27:56 AM
“Bitcoin forks are kind of the new altcoin. We are going to see now a bunch of Bitcoin forks. And they are going to start replacing some of the top hundred altcoins.” Well this saying are true, there's a lot of btc fork are coming this year.. We are only the one who will chose what is best for us.
This is so true. I just heard of this new Bitcoin fork called Bitcoin Origin. Apparently it's a "Penta-fork" from the top 5 coins. Thoughts on this one? Not quite getting the idea of their Proof of Ambassador consensus algorithm, so any help would be appreciated, if you've heard of this one. https://www.bitcoinorigin.io/ is their home page with the whitepaper, team and everything else you'd be interested in looking at.

Hey there, I have been hearing the talks about this Multi fork. It's sounds like they talk a 'BIG' talk on their a new approach to the Blockchain technology.
Introducing innovative such as Proof of Ambassador consensus protocol, Multi- state engine and serveless Blockchain. I will admit that now I have never heard of these innovatives before I am still unsure about this fork but it is worth looking into.

Serverless blockchain? How is that even going to work?

First off, it's always better to do your own research into coins that interest you rather than basing your investment on someone else's opinion. That being said, perhaps you might be interested in looking at this new project that I've heard of, called Bitcoin Origin. I'm considering partaking in the claiming myself, as the tech behind it is incredibly innovative and intriguing, with it being

Agreed. I'm also really interested in Bitcoin Origin. Is there going to be an Airdrop sometime?

As far as I'm aware, the airdrop is over. I'm not too sure if there will be another one closer to the launch, but if there is, I'm definitely participating! Smiley I missed the first one too... Sad

Hi. Please can you tell me more about this Bitcoin Origin project? It sounds really interesting with the combination of Proof of Authority and Proof of Stake together, making Proof of Ambassador. This is a hardfork off of Bitcoin, if I'm not mistaken, no?

Hey there, Yes Bitcoin Origin is a hard fork
From what I read from their whitepaper and some article, Bitcoin Origin is a penta Cryptocurrency fork of the top 5 Cryptocurrencies- Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dash. They will create a consensus protocol Proof of Amabassdor is hybrid consensus approach to Proof of Authority and Proof of stake. Bitcoin Origin will improve the overall utiltiy, functionality, scalability and lack of privacy inherent in the PoW Cryptocurrencies, and deliver Serverless Blockchain as a service projects to the corporate sector.

For more information about this penta fork just visit their website: https://www.bitcoinorigin.io/

That's really cool! I've read their position paper and it looks like a very interesting project if the traction I hear it's been gaining continues. There have been too many cryptocurrency projects that have crashed because the hype was centered around the launch. Does anyone know how they might propose to keep this alive?

Hi there. This is the link for the team https://www.bitcoinorigin.io/#team

A friend told me about this the other day and I was super interested in finding out more on it. When I saw the whole 'Penta-fork' idea I got confused though. Are they going to take the benefits from the 5 coins or are they literally forking off of 5 different coins simultaneously? What's your take on this 'fork'? Smiley

Hold on... I've been looking at https://www.bitcoinorigin.io which looks like the proper one... This http://bitcoinorigin.org/ website doesn't look legit... There is no team, no whitepaper, no information whatsoever, and the telegram group only has 9 members in it, it's actually making me very nervous... My friend said that the telegram group (that she is also part of) has around 45,000 member when she looked this Monday. Who is the admin or team for this?

It is most likely not legit. It sounds silly, but in most cases you can even tell it from the name of the coin. This is also a very stupid name and the devs can't be much smarter.

How can you tell whether a project is a scam or not just from the name of the coin? That seems like quite a pre-school way of analyzing a project. Do you have facts/figures to back that up? Then we can have a chat about what defines a scam or doesn't.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Attention Ethereum Loyalists on: May 31, 2018, 10:05:57 AM
So I just read an article from https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2017-the-ether-thief/ titled "The Ether Thief". As I read it, my heart was racing; that's the extent to which it affected me, and I'm not even an avid Ethereum supporter. It shocked me that the difference between an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter in a piece of coding could open a chink in the armor for a hacker to get through. This is now my question to you:

After the fiasco with DAO on the Ethereum platform, which cost a small fortune for ETC holders and subsequently created Ethereum Classic, what is the expected reaction to Ethereum’s new hardfork, Callisto?
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency? on: May 31, 2018, 09:08:33 AM
Bitcoin is simple, and that's what people like. People want to store value, move value back and forth, and if possible, at low cost. Altcoins have been offering all sorts of gimmick features throughout the years, but 95% of the people aren't interested in using these features at all, which once again points out that it there is no such a thing as Bitcoin being outdated.

Another aspect I see people complain about, is that Bitcoin's transaction fees are so expensive while altcoin fees are so insanely low. Roger Ver did that too, and he even made fun of Bitcoin various times in his streams as well. People should understand that the only reason altcoins are able to offer cheap transaction fees is because barely anyone is using their networks. High fees = high demand for block space. Low fees, or even no fees = low to no demand for block space (ie, coin is practically redundant). While I don't like altcoins, I do like their presence and the global interest in them. It's impossible to point out exactly, but the altcoin market makes sure a very large number of Bitcoins are taken out of direct circulation, and that makes sure there will only be more coin scarcity in the coming years. In other words, booming altcoin market is great for Bitcoin as well.

I really like your explanation above about why transaction fees are priced the way they are, so I'd appreciate your take on the following:

I recently came across an article about a new fork called Bitcoin Origin, which is essentially a "Penta-fork" off the top 5 coins; Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dash. What do you think the launch of this new coin would do to the demand of other Altcoins, and consequently the demand for Bitcoin and the transaction fees thereof?

My point was that if "they" mount an attack, I think they're unlikely to do something subtle like try to mess with the block chain.

If "they" want to mess with the network, it would be far easier to do something like what China's doing with its Great Wall-- forcing connections they don't like to be dropped.  Or what botnets do now:  mount a denial-of-service attack by flooding the network.

Much more likely:  "they" will catch you for tax evasion when you convert your bitcoins to your local fiat currency and buy that fancy sports car you've always wanted.

To be fair, it really does depend on the company you are buying your 'fancy' car from. Lamborghini being one car dealership that accepts Bitcoin directly; we are all familiar with the phrase 'when Lambo'. Grin Also, if buying in fiat currency, the minute your transfer goes through the bank, "they" can directly trace the money afterward. So when converting to any fiat, you are beholden to the laws of the country whose currency you are converting to.
i think although we transaction to buy lambo by using bitcoin is not free of taxes, but for a letter of ownership will certainly be a question about your income so far to buy lambo, and finally the government can track it as well

That goes without saying, as the government would want to know who the unidentified person is, who is suddenly buying a Lamborghini straight up.

Lol what's wrong with that? Butterin is a talented person. But he has done wrong by published it and try to created a public pool about that. But i guess we will see ethereum will much bigger in the future.
EEA become the largest crypto organization right now.

How is it wrong of him to ask his followers for their opinion? What I think was wrong of him to do, was to not block out the other person's details. He clearly wanted to gauge the overall reaction of the public should he decide to move over to Google.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Homeless use Bitcoin on: May 22, 2018, 08:51:40 AM
Guys what do you think about Homeless people who use cryptocurrency on the street is that an evolution or something else ?

From my point of view, not all homeless people were born into that life. They could have had a decent enough life before falling into homelessness, and therefore, have had a wallet existing already. With that said, they could prefer to receive Bitcoin as a donation, if that country actively uses cryptocurrencies.

Poverty is a very real problem in the world, so, if you'd be interested, there is a South African initiative called UBU that I've heard of through a family friend who lives there, which basically give a set amount of tokens to citizens in place of social grants, which can only be exchanged fro certain products; alcohol and drugs being excluded from that list. Here is a link to a site that you can get more info on UBU from.

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin Die because of global Regulations? on: May 21, 2018, 10:16:58 AM
With South Korea attempting to regulate crypto, of which the primary appeals to it, was that it was anonymous, immutable, permission less, and global, by regulating it to the point of making it non-anonymous, over and above the tax regulations, what will other countries feel bold enough to try within their own countries to regulate crypto?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - If you had the choice to vote - Commodity or Currency? on: May 18, 2018, 01:54:34 PM
Let's say we live in a perfect world, where citizens still made the decisions on political matters and you as an individual were given the choice to vote on a subject.

If the choice were given to you, would you vote for Bitcoin to be accepted as a currency or a commodity? Your governments wants to accept Bitcoin, but they do not want a multi-function and open defined technology. They only give two options on the ballot paper.

1. Define Bitcoin as a Currency

2. Define Bitcoin as a Commodity

You have to remember that the definition will determine the future and the taxes that would be applied to the technology. <VAT or Capital Gains> Where will you draw your X ?

Let's see what would happen, if people were given a choice.  Roll Eyes < Both is not a option >

I would vote for Bitcoin as a currency as it offers quite a bit more security for my hard-earned "money" with its decentralization than regular centralized banking.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BLOCKCHAIN on: May 18, 2018, 01:18:31 PM
What are the various uses of blockchain? and how it can be used differently??

Blockchain can be used for various things, such as businesses using it as a payment system to be able to trade around the world or perhaps healthcare facilities using it to create decentralized patient records. Just two of the most interesting applications for me personally.
