3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NEW Market Making Desktop Application-the easiest way to be a liquidity provider on: June 01, 2020, 02:51:36 PM
A new desktop application for providing liquidity and making a profit in DeFi is now available.
It is an automated market-making agent used to provide liquidity in JellySwap - https://app.jelly.market/swap
It is as simple as any other application you’ve run on your computer.

Functions:

- supports automatic order matching, withdraws, refunds, portfolio rebalancing, email, and Slack notifications.

- does not lock your funds

- lets you determine your own price spread

The upcoming incentive program will let you earn 12,6% annual interest + price spreads.

Jelly connect the different blockchains and enables cross-chain swaps. So you can provide liquidity on the current trading pairs that we support - BTC-ETH, BTC-DAI, BTC- WBTC, BTC- USDC, ETH- ERC20

Something like this would be nice with decentralized exchange... Or is it also for decentralized exchanges?
Guess the incentive program is with tokens, right? 12.6% makes a bit of sense if it's  token. It doesn't sound too sustainable though.

In regards to running node all the time, you could make it optional for liquidity providers to lock their funds and let their money work for them while offline. I think stuff this will work best on permissionless/trustless decentralized exchanges with escrow system/smart contract.

It is exactly a permissionless decentralized exchange - https://jelly.market/
It is for cross-chain atomic swaps - connecting different blockchains.
So you can provide liquidity on the trading pairs that we currently support - BTC-ETH, BTC-DAI, BTC- WBTC, BTC- USDC, ETH- ERC20
You can go and check them all - https://app.jelly.market/swap

Funds are not locked. They are used only on demand. This happens ONLY if there is an active swap and there is a user that has locked the appropriate amount of the token you want to receive against the token you provide.

This is the source code used for Butler - https://github.com/jelly-swap/jelly-butler-beta

What platform is this happening?

This is the app https://app.jelly.market/swap

Here we've given some simple explanation about the concept:
- about Jelly - https://medium.com/jelly-market/hello-world-5bb8f76c6038
- about atomi swaps - https://medium.com/jelly-market/the-technology-behind-jelly-ecc401348bcb
- simple infographic of how atomic swaps work - https://medium.com/jelly-market/atomic-swaps-the-what-and-the-how-65f7afe3a242

What's cool about atomic swaps is that they are really decentralized and permissionless. It is the only way to move value from one blockchain to another without using  a platform or a middlman.
That looks a simple app but if it's quick and permission less, I guess in no time it will get some attention. Are you needing some staff that can work for you?
I think I'm interested to work for this kind of project because it looks good base on my first impression as long as it is not a scam. But, I need to learn more about it so that I can understand it easily. I've seen likely projects but didn't gain it's traction.

To gain traction is actually the hardest thing so we are trying to spread the word and make people try the dapp to see that atomic swaps can actually have a pretty simple implementation.  Our next steps are to integrate more blockchains.
What kind of work do you suggest? Are you a developer? This is our github you can have a look - https://github.com/jelly-swap

It sounds like a good idea for liquidity providers. Incentivising LPs will bring more liquidity and more liquidity will bring more volume. It's a win-win situation.

However, I doubt atomic swaps will be commonly used by traders. My understanding is the majority of DEX traders are willing to use only one chain for their trades. Atomic swaps are not user friendly, which is way I have never seen any atomic swap protocol succeeded so far.
There's lack of usage for DEXes and with these incentives, this could be a good start for them. I still don't understand the whole concept of atomic swaps and jelly, that's the reason why you haven't seen anyone succeeded because lack of exposure I guess or the majority doesn't like it.

about the win-win situation - this is exactly what we are aiming for.

about atomic swaps - why not be adopted? It is a good way to expand DeFi beyond Ethereum network. An attempt to bridge Bitcoin and Ethereum, combining Bitcoin’s superior liquidity, trading volume, and user base with Ethereum’s composability and ecosystem of open source financial applications.

are they user friendly - we are trying to make them intuitive and executable in a few clicks, we are supporting all kinds of wallets e.g. Ledger for high security and also other solutions like browser extensions and simple social media logins so that users have a choice. Go give it a try and then tell us what  you think. What else to be improved.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Liquidity Provider Desktop Application for BTC-ETH and BTC-ERC20 on: May 27, 2020, 09:16:18 AM
Jelly Swap releases new market making software in order to maximize the profit from the spreads and to make the market more competitive. It is an automated software is called Butler and comes as an easy to set up desktop application for liquidity provision. Butler works in a different manner than Uniswap and other exchanges - see the advantages below:

- As a market maker you will be free to choose the spread. Thus, the rates provided on Jelly will be much more flexible than other platforms.

- Market makers will earn bonuses from our incentive program - 12.6% annualy for the first 100k liquidity provided

- Funds for liquidity provision are used only on demand. This means that market maker's funds will not be locked and he can meanwhile use them for other purposes.

- Cross-exchange liquidity provision - market makers will be able to rebalance their portfolios on other centralized platforms and thus solve the problem with impermanent loss

- There is one disadvantage we have to mention: every market maker has to operate the node and keep it up and running all the time or with short downtimes

How can it be decentralized and I need to deposit money to your BTC address, and therefore trust? Many platforms do not require updating the balance in order to buy or sell.
I haven't tried to link MetaMask wallet, but it seems to be no different from DEX.AG platform.
The number of currencies offered for trading is simple and most are unknown.
Is the only role of BTC in updating the values/Balance?

Brain wallet is non custodial. It is a wallet which is dynamically generate and lives only in your local storage - the storage of the browser.
We do not have access to your private keys at any given moment.
We just use this way of abstraction of public/private key pair to make it more user friendly.

In a week we will release a new update where we will support hardware wallet - ledger if that works for you.

The brain wallet is only suitable for small amounts, but like I said it is secure enough and non-custodial.
We do not have access to your funds.
13  Economy / Exchanges / NEW Automated Liquidity Provider software on: April 03, 2020, 01:14:08 PM
We’ve just released an Automated Market Making software for our cross-chain atomic swap application which enables decentralized value transfer between different blockchains e.g. BTC<>ETH.

The software allows EVERYONE to provide liquidity and determine their own price.

It supports automatic order matching, withdraws, refunds, portfolio rebalancing, email and slack notifications.

Eliminates the need to lock your funds. Instead, the funds are used directly from your wallet only on demand.

The one thing you need to do is to set up your liquidity provider node.
If you encounter any problems, don’t hesitate to ask for help in our Telegram https://t.me/jelly_swap and Discord https://discord.gg/3fCbp9U channels. We can also have a call to help you F2F.

14  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Cross-chain atomic swap protocol BTC <> ETH on: February 02, 2020, 03:45:56 PM
I am unable to enter anything in the "Receiver Address" box. I have tried on three different browsers. The only way I can get a bitcoin address to show (without going in to Developer Tools and enabling text input) is to create an account using the "Brainwallet" function. Given how insecure and dangerous both brainwallets and web wallets are, combining the two in to a brainwallet that you generate and hold custody of for your customers isn't a great idea. Is it not possible to sell ETH and receive BTC to your own address? Why does it have to send to your brainwallet address and then be withdrawn from there?

Can confirm I cannot enter anything in the Receiver Address box either. Tested on 4 different web browsers, including mobile.

The website should go through some internal, behind-the-scenes testing phases before going public, considering there are 3 people so far (4 including me) finding bugs or weird things about your platform. I'm curious about the advantages of it vs Komodo's Atomic DEX too.

If you really want your platform to become a thing, having it public with bugs and possible glitches/errors may turn into a negative overall opinion of it which you wouldn't want to, I believe. I recommend launching a public version only when internal testing phases end with 100% success.

It is not a bug...

Maybe we should have some explainer.

If you want to make an atomic swap, you should make two transactions.
One on ethereum network
One on bitcoin network.

We do use brain wallet, because you have to sign the transaction with your bitcoin key and then to broadcast it.

it is using P2WSH script.

You do not have option to enter bitcoin address, because you have to prepare the raw transaction after that and the one and only way to do it is with brain wallet for now.

I agree that it is not the most secure login method, but If you use it only for the swap and then move your funds somewhere else it is fine + brain wallet stays only in your browser local sotrage so nothing critical could hapen if you do not have some viruses or malicious extensions on your computer.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How liquidity providers hedge their risk? on: December 09, 2019, 11:59:12 AM
Do you think that liquidity providers should have some centralized exchange for hedging?

And do you think that this should be built-in or every liquidity provider should take care of this on his own?

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FINALLY- we can now exchange coins between different blockchains on: December 02, 2019, 09:50:19 AM
Hey guys,

We are working on a new dApp which will help you exchange coins between different blockchains. Finally, we made a real implementation of cross-chain atomic swaps and it is working. We start with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron. Soon also EOS, NEO, Aeternity. We are determined to solve the interoperability problems between the different blockchains. It's high time to really start using crypto!

We launch on Nov 20th on the testnet.
If you want, you can write down your ETH address and we will send you some testnet tokens to try swap with the dApp.
Feedback is highly appreciated!

As I have seen. It was good, But I was have some confusions why the CEO of the company doesn't have profile picture to see his face. It is look like changelly, And I wish this is 100% legitimate.

You guys are cool! The community needed this service for a long time! I think that with the use of your application, people will be able to significantly reduce the commissions when exchanging coins of different blockchains. I look forward to launching your mainnet!

Thanks Edvinz, that's what we are aiming for. Try a few swaps, if you find something that can be improved, let us know.
