1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer U1 + Asic miner Block erupter + Ubuntu on: January 06, 2014, 06:23:54 PM
Sorry I forgot to reply to this. I am running exactly that combination of hardware but use 1 instance of bfgminer for the BE's and the custom cgminer build for the U1's. for the cgminer instance I specify the USB ports using the --usb switch (e.g. --usb 1:23,1:25,1:26 for the 3 I use). To find the usb ports I ran lsusb from a command line with just the BE's plugged in and then ran it again with the U1's in as well. Comparing the difference showed me the ports (below is my lsusb output from all the devices so you can see how to find the port details - the 1 is from the Bus and the 23, 25 & 26 from the Device)

Code:
Bus 001 Device 021: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 022: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 023: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 025: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 020: ID 1a40:0201 Terminus Technology Inc. FE 2.1 7-port Hub
Bus 001 Device 019: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 026: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. CP210x UART Bridge / myAVR mySmartUSB light
Bus 001 Device 018: ID 1a40:0201 Terminus Technology Inc. FE 2.1 7-port Hub

Nice! Did you recompile cgmimer?

Yes since the precompiled version is only 64bit I believe (at least it will only run on my 64bit hardware). The process was fairly easy (well until I tried to compile icarus support in too which failed every time) and I was up and running in about 20 minutes.
I just need to find a decent web interface for monitoring both cgminer and bfgminer now. The core U1 hardware seems pretty decent though and is doing what I want it to do.

I've got my 2 running a 32bit version of cgminer on Ubuntu 13.10 (CPU only supports 32bit as its a bit old) mining at between 3 and 3.6 Ghps. Very pleased so far - especially as I have been able to get this to run alongside bfgminer and a couple of old Block Erupters.

I've been mining for about a month - as a hobby and learning experience rather than to make any actual money from it.

I've used Block Erupters and today got a couple of Antminer U1's. These have left me taking all day working out how to get the Antminers and BE's to mine on the same Ubuntu 13.10 32bit machine but I have finally managed it. Hopefully they will continue to work when the system is rebooted too!

As I said I am using it as a learning curve and don't really expect to make anything using them. I am learning loads about linux along the way - compiling builds etc.
