1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 07, 2014, 07:31:27 PM
hey at least Nigerian prince showed us the whitepaper

instead of this :

Ok, let's count together how many times the White Paper is being talked about in this whole thread, including when it was uploaded and what it contains.

1 time in the 6-Jan-2014 update written in a red font directly at the top of the main post
1 time in the comments, when i specifically said that we uploaded it to 2 mirrors
2 times in the comments of this very page, regarding it's contents

So if you want to come about and flame on people, it's ok, but you better do your homework and find some real problems to rant about.
Here it is, specifically for you. It's worth a read.

Also i don't think accepting other currency's is a good idea as it will mess up the % of the share, or will require some work.

It won't mess up the shares percentages, as the received amount of coins will be calculated at the current BTC price of that coin. Basically it's exactly as sending bitcoins.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 07, 2014, 04:02:54 PM
I'm really amazed of the white paper. Haven't started it yet but it looks like alot of work has been put into this.
Will read it tonight. You should post on the main page, this will get attention to the thread.

That's a massive block of text, i don't think we can just edit it in the main post, and make it look presentable Grin. But we'll think about it, as it sounds solid. Also, we'll post addresses for other various currencies if people ask for them.

edit: just took a look on the documentation hosted on Google Drive, wow they really messed up some of the text in there, will look into it shortly.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 07, 2014, 06:16:32 AM
The question is who will controll all amount of BTC deposited to the exchange?
If its only one person the system would be centralized or I miss anything?

No one controls the exchange system. Lets put it like this: you decide to sell 10 NEU at 0.005 BTC each. 10 NEU are blocked by your wallet, and made unavailable for you until you cancel the sell order. If there is a buyer, he buys the blocked amount (10 NEU), and you receive the 0.05 BTC.

Can you explain this further?

"we achieved a staggering speed of 91.037 sec between the sender's sending command and the actual arrival of the coins at the targeted address."

Is 91 sec for irrevocably confirmed?

What is the speed for acked but unconfirmed? Bitcoin is 1 or 2 seconds. That is staggeringly fast, not 91 secs.

The speed of acknowledging is directly linked to the Proof-of-Death system, which is from near instant, to a few seconds, depending on the sending-arrival locations of the nodes in the system. We emphasized more on the 91.037 sec because companies are generally more interested in the confirmation time (to avoid losses) rather than the acknowledging time, which is a pretty universal one (people are content with ACK time). Also 91 sec is a pretty fast confirmation time in our eyes, firstly because it tops other crypto's, and secondly because it's an always evolving parameter, able to be cut into, and reach 20 sec let's say. We will update the main post with this info, as it's clear that we did not post every tiny bit of information on many aspects.

How would the exchange work?
For example there is a Bob who wants to buy 1 NEU @ 0.1 BTC from Alice.
Where Alice has to send her BTC? Who does controll this wallet?
How fast will be depositing and withdrawing?
Any fees?

Just as your everyday exchange site works. You have 2 ways of doing this, either see the sell order by Alice and complete it by either "quick-buy" or by manually inputting your NEU/BTC ratio and quantity. Or by sending to Alice's address 0.1 BTC (BTC addresses can currently be managed by our wallet), and if she agreed to beforehand, she will manually send you her 1 NEU.

Fees will be 0.01% for any type of action.

PLEASE BUY NEUTRONS INSTEAD!

Not 1 time did we say "please" invest/buy/support. You can if you want to, if you don't want to that's fine, the coin will go by it's natural development phase with or without me, you or anyone else investing 0.001 BTC or not. We made the "BTC for shares" thing available, so that people won't go about and think that we will release the coin with XX% in our back pockets. The purpose is to let people decide their value.

On a funnier note,
"with Neutron you can buy a piece of KFC with 1 grams of gold made from 1's and 0's and show it to you friend on Skype on opposite side of world!"

This was genuinely too funny not to +1 you  Cheesy
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 06, 2014, 05:36:39 PM
I clicked on the bitcoin sign on the pie chart website.
He auto started my multibit asking if he needed to put the payment info on it.
Could this have infected my multibit and thus having my keys stolen ?

Or is this a legit feature?

https://bitcoinwidget.appspot.com/

You can press on that button 100 times, it will happen the exact same thing every single time, which is to copy the destination BTC address into your Multibit client and that's it. You decide how much you want to support with, or if you really want to send your donation or not.

As for tomorrow, we will post some updates on the main post of this thread later on.

ok so you wanna clone Nxt.
you get the java source easily now and need 6 months to study it and make adjustments to open source it so it seems legit

We said it already, we are aware that our timing is bad, but that wasn't up to us, 2 developers (1 is mainly absent for 3 weeks or so) cannot build an entire system from scratch in under 6 months. Five have already passed and we still need more time. It would have been a god send if the NXT source code would have been released before we started working on this project, we would fork on it, and add the concepts that make NEU an original coin. But now we are too deep to back out, too much has been invested so far (energy, time, relations) Also we are pretty confident that if we put NEU's source code up for sale, there would we at least 2 big buyers, the code is that good.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 05, 2014, 04:35:59 PM
Okay so first things first. This is not a fork off NXT, as we didn't have access to their code when we started writing ours. And we will not release the source-code, at least for a while, giving people time to accustom themselves to this type of coin after it has gone live. We do realize that by choosing Java, this coin will evolve in the shadow of Nxt, just as Nxt did behind the Bitcoin, but that looks like a pattern already, which we don't mind being a part of.

The speed of transactions will improve drastically in the next 2 weeks of improvements (we will cut on the nodes, increasing their responsibility over more wallets). Also you guys should keep an eye out for the GIVEAWAY that is bound to happen tomorrow, time to be announced 2 hours beforehand.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 05, 2014, 01:55:04 PM
It wouldalso be interesting to publish technical details on your website.

Working on them as we speak. We want the people to know exactly what is going on with this project, so technical details are a must; expect them on the website sometime tomorrow or the day after. Due to the work that we must put into this coin, the advertising part suffers a bit. Truth is that we're behind schedule, as we initially had in mind a December 2013 release. But problems arose, the staff is limited... here we are today.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Neutron - Unique Crypto of Future Generation - 10,000,000 total supply on: January 05, 2014, 12:21:18 PM
Thanks everyone for the warm reception. All the webpages have been updated accordingly to the new changes in share holding. Also, keep in mind that we will be unable to follow this thread 100% of the time, because we are undergoing hardware upgrades. Also one of our developers crashed the network during a test today, so that leaves us with alternating online/offline connections. Very frustrating at the moment.

Received so far: 2.41794378 BTC

Donations are accepted until 1st March 2014 (50 more days of IPO)

6-Jan-2014 update: NEU coin Documentation uploaded (White Paper) Google Drive mediafire
7-Jan-2014 update plan: (part of the code will be made available for the interested tech guys)
NEU coin giveaway time will be announced 3 hours in advance

What is Neutron?

A completely different coin in itself. It is not an altcoin based on someone else's work. We have written the code from scratch, and we have been working on it for the past 5 months. The code is written in Java, is closed-source, and we plan on releasing it 6 months after the official launch of the coin. Our team is composed currently of 3 developers, 1 webmaster (also responsible with advertising) 1 hardware maintenance technician and 1 coffee girl.

There will be a total supply of 10,000,000 NEU contained in 200,000 blocks which concludes for 50 NEU/block

We chose the Java programming language mainly because we could not achieve what we wanted to, if we just made another copy of the SHA-256 or SCRYPT altcoins. Plus, Neutron does not need to be mined, as the Genesis Block which is 10,000,000 coins will be released on 1 March 2014, so SHA-256 or SCRYPT does not help us in any matter whatsoever. You may say that this coin is pre-mined, but you would be wrong because there is no mining done here, just a distribution of coins, the price of which we cannot control.

Any feature currently announced can disappear in a whim, while many more can appear overnight, due to the volatility of a coin's management and creation phase. For instance, while we currently have finished working on the "Hide me" feature, we cannot guarantee that it will stay forever in the system. "Hide me" completely hides the user's address, recent transactions, his client reputation and his wallet's node relay (every node is responsible for maintaining 2250 wallets and is identified with 6 digits after the identifier as "{A4:Yy|D2:Yy|G1:Yy|i:Yy}-XXXXXX" where X is a variable determined by the node's location (wallets are hidden by default, nodes are not, think of them as inspectors) and Y is the quality of the wallet based on past activity, with the identifier ranging from the weakest "G" to the super "i")

Why use Neutron?

Because we need a unique currency with completely different concepts that back it up. In our case, the Neutron features near-instant transaction speeds (91.037 sec. for confirmation time, 1-5 sec. to coin acknowledging time) 100% Proof of Death system (51% of the transaction's time is used to make sure that the coins are destroyed), a self-repairing complex algorithm (for instance, your damaged wallet can repair itself by comparing it's code with the ones from the network, same with coins from bad transactions), a client-job jumping system (which assures that no action is returned as a loop just because a selected client isn't responding properly) and many more.

Can you imagine the benefits alone that a quick transaction brings? The power to buy anything in under 2 minutes, anywhere, anytime. No 1 hour-long transactions, no paper money, no credit cards, no banks, no eyes to spy on your economical activity. Now you can achieve complete anonymity with a dash of speed.

Initial funding

This post marks the Genesis period which will last from this moment until 1st March 2014 when further funding will be refused, coins and wallets will be released, the blockchain will go live, and the project as a whole will be launched. We will release the source-code 6 months after.

How does the funding work

Quite differently from what you were used to so far. Let's say that the 1st founder donated 0,1 BTC. That means that as of this moment he owns 100% of the coins to be released. Then another person decides to be a founder and he donates 0,3 BTC. Now the 1st founder has 25% of the shares, and the 2nd Founder 75% of the shares and so on. This is being done so that everyone has a chance to be a Neutron founder/holder (power-shifting principle) as it is not based on some first come first served basis. Thusly it allows the spreading to be more legitimate, price efficient, and not be centered around one powerful individual or a couple of them, which ultimately decide the coin's fate on the market. The shares owned by anyone during this funding period will be updated every 8 hours.

At the end of the IPO period, NEU coins will be released to the founders according to the Shareholders Chart (you get a number of Neutrons depending on the percentage of shares that you own) For instance, if you own a share of 31% you will receive 3,100,000 NEU.

The share-holding chart can be viewed live here http://neutrons.us/shareholders

NEU will use an unique transactional algorithm, which surpasses any current cryptocoin's speed of transaction. During our initial testing phase, we achieved a staggering speed of 91.037 sec between the sender's sending command and the actual confirmation of the coins at the targeted address (coins are acknowledged in 1-5 sec. tops, we did not emphasize on that, because we thought people would immediately assume it). This is possible due to the unique and un-exploitable confirmation feature of NEU which works like this:

Simply put, in a transaction, the sending person's coins are destroyed and created at the receiving person's address, for a fee of 0.01%
Transactions are marked as COMPLETE after they have been reviewed by a total 47 NEU clients (transaction time varies)
Transactions are marked as INCOMPLETE in certain special cases.

Main client (Work in Progress):

Features of the main client (Work in Progress):
- Inbuilt decentralized currency exchange
- NEU trading
- Messaging
- Completed transactions live panel (NEU-BTC, NEU-NEU, WIP on other currencies basic sending/receiving)
- Bulk addresses creation/destruction
- More to come

How to be a part of the future

First of all, take a look on the White Paper, and decide for yourself if you want to be part of this project or not. It's a pretty solid read.

To own a share of the Neutron project send your donation at: 18Ngv1dcoxJuZtkZv8VBAPu8om58QYEA4k (your donated BTC quantity will determine how many shares you will have relative to other people's investment)
Be sure to also send us an email with the following details at funding@neutrons.us
- the BTC transaction ID (TRXID) do not send us your address as we have no use for it
- a name to be written in the "Founders" page of neutrons.us website

For NXT you can deposit to this account:  6635869272840226493

Everyone who buys any shares (quantity doesn't matter):

- Becomes a genuine founder, and will receive forum status of "Genesis Founder" when our forums will come online on launch day (currently there is no available personnel to handle the forums)
- Will have 0% transactional fee on the first 25 transactions
- Will have a name of his choosing (no naming policy) permanently embedded on the Neutron website in the "Founders" category
- 3 out of 4 founders will have a name of their choosing (common sense naming policy) INSIDE the actual Neutron coin code. Chosen people must e-mail us before 25 February 2014, or they will lose their piece of history.

Suggest a feature, contribute technically

Send us an email at developer@neutrons.us if you have an idea for an improvement, a new feature, basically anything that crosses your mind. We are extremely open to suggestions, so don't think twice!

Note that this project is merely at it's humble roots. 5 months in the making don't make a young coin very powerful, but it can surely become one! Until it's official launch, this coin will undergo constant improvements, numerous code cleanups, will lose some of it's features, and surely gain other ones. Anything can happen as long as it's staying true to it's goal, which is to EVOLVE.

Also, bits and pieces of the code will be provided to 100 beta testers (which will test the whole network sometime at the end of February this year) for that extra insight and tiny bugs which we would most surely miss. If you want to be a part of them, just drop us an email, and we will see about it.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is exactly why I believe in bitcoins ! VISA & Banks are thiefs ! on: January 05, 2014, 10:22:04 AM
The main problem with the current banking and international monetary system, is that a certain powerful person can solely decide if tomorrow's paycheck will be lower or higher then the previous one. That issue alone is disturbing if you think about it. Another problem is that we are so used to this system, that we became oblivious to any other alternatives. To back this up, you can look to the alternatives which (crypto's) and see that the people are unsure and skeptic about it, which is pretty sad really.
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitpay good for Bitcoin in the long term on: January 05, 2014, 10:00:54 AM
Any exchange is good in the long term AS LONG as people keep buying BTC. If suddenly people stopped buying, due to some extraordinary reason, holders would panic sell thinking to themselves that the BTC train has run it's course. Thus, it's price can reach the very lowest bottoms of the dollar.

This is nothing compared to what will happen in 2 years or so. Then we will have to hang tight, when it will hit $10,000 strong at least.
18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy & Pending Withdrawals on: January 05, 2014, 06:13:52 AM
Cryptsy are the good guys, don't worry about that. They have massive lag sometimes, and the server audit is a bit behind, but that is usually fixed within a day or two tops. Ofcourse i was a bit scared at first when i transferred 4 BTC or so. Not seeing even a breadcrumb of that transaction didn't help me not one bit Wink but a couple of e-mails later i've found out that there is nothing to be worried about, and everything will be fine... eventually
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simplest way to buy bitcoin in the US? on: January 05, 2014, 06:01:53 AM
The most site i've used is Virwox.com but they charge so much it's unreal. At first i thought hey, it's not so bad... buying SLL with my credit card then BTC with SLL, and in a whim i would have BTC's to any address. But one day i got a little mathematically curious, so i proceeded to check the fees that these guys had. A staggering $40 from $220 they charged me... i was amazed... how could something like this not capture my full attention everytime i would make a charge.

About other sites, i don't know because i haven't used any other. If you plan on using Virwox, mind the fees, they are not small.
