my stratum mining pool shows a strange error message when the bgfminer tries to connect. Hi Kevin, you can use the Marscoin online import functionality to do just that. See the screenshots below: Go to https://wallet.marscoin.org, then if you head over to the "FUND" menu section: At the bottom of that page you can find the import form: It might take a few moments...

The Mars Society convention was phenomenal, we'll be posting more details in a separate article. Suffice it to say, that Marscoin's donation was well received and the space community embraced the idea of (additional) funding for space projects - even if explaining cryptocurrencies, blockchain and hashing in a few minutes is a big challenge and does not always succeed :-) Mars One wants to keep supporting our project and what made the experience especially one of a kind was the numerous Mars One candidates that are quite serious about taking Marscoin to Mars should they be selected! There will be at least one planet in the solar system where a legacy "too big to fail" banking industry does not hamper economic progress :-) Here are the two donation addresses, in case you'd like to donate as well: The Mars Society: http://explore.marscoin.org/address/MARSocNh46xszubKP94ikV3awGLxQfiscxMars One: http://explore.marscoin.org/address/MMarsonebnQkxsNQxewhadjjFWix4DXTau

why are the code different here we have mars and on c-cex MRS see the earlier posts in this thread. Marscoin started out with MRS when more than 3 letter combinations were frowned upon and not that common - does not seem to be an issue anymore and the community wanted MARS, so our new main ticker is MARS but you find it referenced to, here and there, still as MRS.

Hi Rnbin, no joke at all. In fact, we will be presenting tomorrow at the 17th international Mars convention. Cryptocurrencies are the future and a developing Mars colony will have one as well. Marscoin tries to be that very one. Of course we hope that Mars One might officially support the project down the road: additional fundraising opportunities and a voluntary global participation for everyone - those are goals that are definitely aligned with their ground-breaking vision of setting up a human base on Mars for all of mankind as soon as possible. Realistically, for any coin to become something like "the Bitcoin on Mars", all you really need is convince the earliest colonists to participate and the resulting network effect will be similar to Bitcoin's on Earth. I'll link to our talk from the Mars convention on youtube once it is uploaded. BTW: donations will be handed over to MarsOne and The Mars Society tomorrow.

new thread? good idea wallet (windows version) works as intended now name. when we started (january) marscoin was 'mrs'. now wallet and exchange (one so far, with very bad terms) using 'mars' but pools still using 'mrs'. this could be little confusing I think. Thanks for pointing that out - we'll update all links/resources over time but haven't completed that yet. In general the community preferred "MARS" over "MRS" and as three letter abbreviations are not a must anymore MARS with its four characters makes it easier to find. Eventually on Mars, in 2025, it will simply be known as the crypto of Mars . Smaller units might get great names like "1 zubrin" or "10 bas" :-)

Being a Martian at heart I'm so buying into this.
I know exactly how you feel :-) Who stole our childhood dreams? 1870-1970: from horse buggy to landing on the moon ... 1970-2010 space exploration is dead in the water, FED and inflation are growing, capital misallocated :-) But now we got spacex, MarsOne, Bitcoin ... and Marscoin - things are looking up

the old link on bitcointalk was a guest thread - this official one will allow us to communicate updates more clearly on Bitcointalk - some users on the old thread did not find our updates because of that.
