1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: February 18, 2014, 12:47:25 AM
sorry to ask a newbie question, but I'm a bit confused. In the wallet there is balance, stake, and unconfirmed.  I'm wondering what is the stake part for exactly?  as an extension of that, when does the "20% per year max, if you have wallet running 24/7" pay out?  as in, randomly, weekly, monthly, or every year?  And furthermore from that how can you tell that your connected as a part of the stake at all times.  I know you have to have your wallet encrypted and then open it up and run the command to allow minting or whatever.  I mean, do you have to do that every single time you accidentally close the wallet? or you restart your computer?  Just want to make sure that I'm not letting it go un-minting for any period of time.

There's a very good description of how it works a few pages back in this thread.

thanks, I found the post and it was very helpful. It explained everything.
I have another question though, you wouldn't happen to know how the ultracoin cg scrypt-jane miner works, would you?  I mean in terms of the nature of the algorithm.  I'm getting 200 less hashes today on the same intensity I was on a few days ago.  does this have to do with the coins difficulty and something about scrypt jane or am I having issues? everything seems normal with my gpu.

also, if I had the wallet open and set to mint on say, my desktop as well as my laptop, would those not interfere and it would help ensure i was always minting?

I might just be worrying too much and I hate to be a bother, but I'll post anyway.  On my account name: thajacobkiddo I requested a withdrawal of UTC and I have yet to receive the confirmation email for about 2 hours now.  I was pretty certain I used my Gmail account to sign up for this and that it was what this is going to, and considering Gmail is supposed to function flawlessly with withdrawals I was just a bit concerned.  I may be completely wrong and I might have used a different email, but I have most of my email addresses checked and I'm 97.3% sure I used my Gmail.

Thanks in advance,
Jacob
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BNT] Bitnote is launching! on: February 06, 2014, 09:34:55 PM
I am in.

PLEASE... PLEASE... PLEASE

Get a real professional looking logo for Bitnote.

You have such a good name, get a real logo design, not some home made MS Paint crap please.

+1

A few background ideas: microprocessor die / zeros and ones / transistors /

We could even write a few easter eggs onto the logo:

...just kidding Cheesy

Any other ideas?

Those are all good ideas, I think.  I love the notion of making it an old fashion looking bank note 'BitNote' dollar design deal.  It represents the ideas that cryptos tend to stand for and it also gives the coin apparent sophistication with layers of different shades of green, and watermark binary code.

I agree though, I think someone really qualified should get a bounty for rehashing the current one and making it look better, although I appreciate it as it stands.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin -Human Mining + DualAlgo (scrypt/sha256) & MergeMineable on: February 04, 2014, 12:56:52 AM
Hi all, sorry I really hate to beg, but if anyone could give me some HUC to start out and play the game it would be greatly appreciated.
HKoaYedLkhC2tyP8QyM454CB7JKvEBRVZW

And I hope what I ask isn't too obvious:
1. So how exactly do you mine in the game?  I see the coins with values written on them, do you go to them with GPU hashing power and then you mine them with GPU hashing power and eventually get all the coins?
Furthermore, with these big groups of coins are you mining in the vicinity or is it just one coin?  If so, do you queue up movements like: mine this coin, then mine that one, etc. and then return to bank them?  Or can you not do that.

2. When you destruct and kill other people do their coins fall to the ground to be taken?  Or does it just destroy that hunter's coins as well as the other hunter's coins?  And, is that what these huge groups of same colored people on the map are doing?  Sectioning off areas for one person to mine?  Or am I completely off?  But if I'm right, why was it made this way; won't it lead to monopolies?

3. Finally, how does the color system work?  You can only destruct people of your same color, or?

Sorry for the run on, and thanks in advance.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRN] Cryptonium Coin w/ DDoS protected pool! 66 millions coins in total on: January 16, 2014, 01:51:40 AM
http://pool.cryptonium.org/ is working fine but confirmations is taking a hell of a time...! pls make it shorter!
From 120 confirmations we have put it to 99.

Enjoy!
didn't you mention a "surprise?" can we look forward to an exciting announcement of some sort soon?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRN] Cryptonium Coin w/ DDoS protected pool! 66 millions coins in total on: January 14, 2014, 09:32:37 PM
so I don't get it.  do we have an actual promise of soon to come features that will be new, fresh, innovative, and amazing?  I ask because after reading the whole topic and about all of the people who help promote coins through thisweekscoin I'm confused as to whether or not there's actually anything to be excited about for this as an individual coin; considering the main site has only very broad hints at "amazing features that will enable cryptonium to actually act like a kryptonite to ALL other coins and kill them"
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Daytrading on: January 11, 2014, 05:07:25 AM
Another noob considering dipping my foot in there; finally got some btc so i've been drooling over ANTminers.. cubes.. oh the humanity!

Considering they will be able to at least be able to still mine the SHA coins for use with trading. That helps with my noob anxiety.
I wouldn't recommend it.  I don't think there are many new SHA coins and I don't think that any developer plans on making a SHA coin.  Considering most SHA coins have been around for awhile and the difficulty is pretty high..
If anything, I'd suggest buying a few video cards and making your own rig for Scrypt mining or waiting for the Scrypt ASICs which will be very versatile and a worthwhile investment, I'm sure; since that would let you basically get rich off of any upstart (not to mention mining say Doge, StableCoins, Mega, Lotto, etc....etc)
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Daytrading on: January 11, 2014, 01:51:26 AM
Bump? Any more FX or crypto trading information or personal experience would be extremely appreciated.  I can follow a coin well when it has a large popular premise but I don't understand stuff like fear and greed or how they drive the market.  In relation to that I also don't understand and I fail to see predictable patterns in currency economics relating to fear and greed that some are keen enough to exploit.  Anyone?
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sapphire 5850 kh/s on: January 10, 2014, 11:40:33 PM
I'm wondering if I'm around target for a 5850.  I am getting a stable 372 kh/s out of each card.   I try to OC gnu to 900 and memory to 1175 and one of my two cards goes sick and then dies.
https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
According to this you're a good bit ahead of the average hash rate for the 5850.  Of course the cards will vary themselves, just OC them individually as much as possible and find the stable plateau?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: want to build a rig (total newbie at this!) on: January 10, 2014, 11:26:05 PM
I stay in a condo...so free electricity :-D
So power consumption doesn't matter!
Yes new cards, and I'm looking for the beat price per hash!
https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
You've probably seen this but this has all of the individual GPU model performances.  With Scrypt you'll typically see that the more GPU memory the more possible hashes.  To find the best possible dollar/hash amount you'd have to rely on that list for the k/hash and divide that number by the lowest price you can find the GPU at.  Then compile a list and look at the secondary variables: heating issues, power issues, manufacturer issues, etc. to determine the best buy.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VOTE - POLL How may of us are here for a cryptocoin other than Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2014, 10:23:20 PM
The bitcoin ship has sailed entirely, there's really no money to be made off them; save market speculation.  Even that's pointless unless you have a LOT of capital, which no one pursuing cryptocurrencies really has: we're all after the fountain of youth.

I sit around and watch the boards and look for new coins coming out and look for hype, news, and allocate my measly 650 k/hash (7950 & cpu) accordingly.  mined 500k dogecoins before the difficulty and popularity sky rocketed, now I watch the market for them very closely.  I bought a million of them at 26 satoshis, so I'm up quite a bit at the moment.

besides all that I recently purchased the intelligent investor and  security analysis and I am learning everything I can about stocks, options, and futures.  I have a 1,000 dollar stock portfolio which I monitor daily and I've seen some success with my tiny amount of capital.

I think capitalism is a beautiful thing.  All of us have the opportunity to make all the money in the world, all we need is a little bit of capital.  Armed with nothing but knowledge, moderation, and restraint 1,000 can become 10,000 dollars, or even 100,000 dollars.  I would advise everyone to never be intimidated by anything and search out the profit and the money of the economy.  That's what got me into real finance and that's also what got me into cryptocurrencies.
18  Economy / Lending / Re: Bitcoin Loan on: January 10, 2014, 10:12:57 PM
if you have good credit you could try and take out a thousand dollars from your bank on a say, "car repair" loan.  people have done it before to flip $30,000 profits on cryptocurrencies in the past.  I was waiting for my BTC to arrive from coinbase between the time ltc was 2 bucks until they were $45.  I should've tried to convince my dad to take a loan out for it, since I have no credit.  of course, I'd never have gotten anywhere with the stubborn old bugger.  such is life
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important Question on Currency Economics in General on: January 04, 2014, 07:37:42 AM
I too would be very interested in this material.  I'm sure someone could write many a thesis on this subject.

I've currently found youtube to be quite helpful in the meantime, and I think it may take years to analyze the data and decide on relevant trends.

I agree completely, which is why I wish I knew an active day trader or something of the sort.  Also, I haven't found many Youtube videos on the subject so if you have any good ones please share!
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Important Question on Currency Economics in General on: January 04, 2014, 04:50:13 AM
Hello my name is Gabriel and I'm new to this forum, I signed up to ask what is to me an important question and to also post more in the future.

My main question is: can anyone provide me with a reliable source of knowledge/wisdom for those new to currency economics?  This is, obviously, specifically about cryptocurrencies and sites like Cryptsy.com in particular.  For a long time I have wanted to know more about currency economics so that I can hopefully work to turn a profit on a little bit of capital on sites like Cryptsy.  The issue is that I am a total novice.

I may have been deceived, but I've read lots of testimonials from people who claim to have found success working on markets like Cryptsy.  I am desperate for any information regarding learning how to truly understand this field.  It is my perception that currency economics applies very similarly to cryptocurrencies as it does, say, Forex.

At the moment I do understand or appreciate the nature of: greed, fear, patience, common economical patterns in keeping with human nature in general, etc..

Any educational material, personal advice, articles, or other informational sources I (and others, hopefully?) would be terribly thankful for.
