1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PLEASE HELP!! - ZeusMiner x3 Thunder w/ MALE connectors - from "Fiesta Sale" on: July 22, 2014, 01:11:04 AM
I'm having the exact same problem man

take a serraded edge kitchen knife and cut off the two unused connectors on the zeus power plugs - they'll plug right in then

Yup... after waiting 4-5 days with not reply to my support request emails... and still another 3-4 days waiting before adapter cables would arrive... I ended up taking a hacksaw to it.  HaHaHa.  It worked fine, but that's generally not how I like to handle tech support issues on a brand new $1300 piece of electronics.  But at least it's up & running now.  It just sucks that the Difficulty shot up 35-45% in those lost days.  I can't imagine Zeus rolling out this worldwise "Scrypt Network" without first getting a grasp on their support approach.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / PLEASE HELP!! - ZeusMiner x3 Thunder w/ MALE connectors - from "Fiesta Sale" on: July 10, 2014, 01:44:04 AM
I guess I was crazy to think that these units would be good to go right out of the box.  The Blizzard's software settings weren't exactly crystal clear when I received those, but at least I was able to get them going w/i a few hours of DHL stopping by.  This, however, is a complete cluster f**k!!  I order a Thunder x3 on July 1st at the closing of their Fiesta sale (aka "get rid of F'd up faulty units that we wired incorrectly" sale.)  Immediately after sending payment I emailed them regarding all of the conflicting PSU information (what little there was) in order to have everything ready to go once I received the Thunder.  Needless to say,  it is now a week+ later and still no reply regarding my initial inquiry!!  So I ordered a Corsair RM1000 thinking that I'd be in the clear... covering the basic power requirements... and knowing that I can plug  into one of my other Corsair units (that are not being fully utilized by my Antminer S1s) if need be.  So I think I'm all set... right?  NO!  Now this!!
I know my way around the inside of a computer/parts etc etc... but I'm not a wiring/power expert because... well... usually it's just simple & easy, fit the two the match, plug&play, and your good to go.  What is worse, is that it seems as though various parts sites differ in what they call "male" & "female" or "PSU" vs "PCI-E" connectors.  (See descriptions on the site I ordered from.  I think they are backwards & are what got me all screwed up initially.)  What I would consider a "female" connector from the outside (big solid block w/ receiving holes that the "male" plastic prongs would insert into) are actually called "male" on some parts sites because inside the holes is the little metal pins that plug into the tiny holes (female?) on what I would normally call a "male" (plastic "male" prongs, but w/ tiny "female" holes in them"!!!  Arrrggghh!!!  The connectors that I have on the Thunder are 8-pin ("male") plastic prongs w/ gaps in between them... EXCEPT with two prongs in the top-right/bottom-left corner (depending on your view) connected by thin plastic on the outer side.
Example:  http://img.misco.eu/productmedia/htmlimages/cten/SRH/SRH-1/162146-front2.jpg

These connected prongs prevent me from plugging them directly into my Corsair RM1000 PSU.  These are considered "male" PCI-Express, correct??  I am assuming that this is what you guys are dealing w/ as well?  To overcome this issue... I had to hunt down a "12" 8-pin PCI-Express to 6+2-Pin PCI-Express Adapter / Extension Cable"   Is this correct...?  (same cables, but described differently on other sites)
Example 1:  http://pactech-inc.com/html/pcie-862mf-xx.htm

Example 2: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8686/cab-157/12_8-pin_PCI-Express_to_62-Pin_PCI-Express_Adapter_Extension_Cable_CB-PCIE8-EXT.html?tl=g2c699s427

I would plug the Thunder connectors into the "female" slots/holes in the solid block connector on the LEFT-hand side of this picture? Yes?  This then gives me an 8-pin (6+2-pin) "male" connector to plug into my PSU.  Problem solved, right?  But wait?  What is the deal with all of this "use 8-pins and you'll fry your unit" talk??  (Why would they ship w/ 8 F*'n pins if it was going to fry your new unit?!?!?!)  Anyways...  is this correct?  Should I only use the 6-pins (of the 6+2-pin option)??  If so... can I just plug into any 6-pin slot on my PSU??  Or can I plug the 6-pins into an 8-pin slot & just avoid 2 on a particular side? Which side?  OR... should I just connect the 6+2 and use it as an 8-pin connector... plugging into an 8-pin slot on my PSU?  (Will I be serving "fried Zeus" for dinner?)
Any and all additional information (and patience) is greatly appreciated!!!  ZeusMiner... you really dropped the ball on this one.  It ends up not being much of a discount if you receive the unit and it sits here as a fancy black paperweight collecting dust for a week!!  I can practically hear (or better yet NOT hear) money wasting away!!  (<sigh>  Okay... thanx for listening. I feel better now. HaHa)   Anyways... I just want to make sure that these are correct.   Some sites say it's a "PSU" 8-pin... not PCI-E... and most of the sites I've looked at show 8-pin psu connectors having all 8-pins separated.  Only those listed as "8-pin PCI-E" had the gap/opening allowing the connected/attached 2 prongs to plug in....??
Again... thanx for your help (users).  Where are you in all of this ZeusMiner?Huh  HELP!!  ~DaFunkyBeats

PS - Icing on the a F*'ing cake!!  I get the weekly ZeusMiner Update and see they they are now promoting the same units, but they will use half the power!!  Nice... screwed again!  I wouldn't even mind so much because I realize units improve over time... but it feels like a suckerpunch when I have a unit sitting here for days as a paperwieght because Zeus will not provide ANY type or assistance/recommendation/support... or even ACKNOWLEDGEMENT!!  Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!  <sigh>  Fun times!  Smiley

Grin
My earnings for our mega round was '0.000000000' yep, that's right, nothing.

I had to laugh when I got home from work and noticed my network was down. Turns out its been down all day.
I'm back on now and ready for the next run of super quick rounds.
 Cheesy
lol! Best story I've read today Grin

I jumped out of a few blocks over the last few days and then they finished within one or two hours. Which annoyed me.

Then I got pig-headed and decided I would not leave until the next block was found - no matter what.

25 hours later Cry

Quite literally the 100% worst possible block in the history of Slush's pool to decide to see through to the end and I did  Cry  Grin

that was brutal.   I was in it till the end.  These big blocks are killer!!!

Question about pools.  Why slush pool over eligius

Where was Dean Cain & the 'Guinness Book of World Records' crew???  Did I miss'm??  Haha.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goxcoin: New project to compensate victims of Gox and restore confidence in btc on: March 06, 2014, 08:25:05 AM
Sounds like a pump coin.

Agreed!  Granted, I feel bad for anyone who couldn't see the writing on the wall sooner and get out at the first (several) signs of trouble waaaay back when.  I understand that their artificially inflated price made it seem attractive... or people just plain trusted the system.  I get it.  I suffered similar losses in the real market back in 2008... so my heart goes out to anyone who had all their eggs in the failed MtGox basket.  BUT... doesn't GoxCoin go against the ONE principle that BTC tries to avoid in regards to circulation/supply/scarcity?  Don't numerous BTC enthusiasts rant on & on (and rightly so) regarding the US Fed just printing up more and more currency whenever they feel like it.  Isn't this the same thing???  MtGox users took a loss... a sad loss, yes, but they knew the risks of BTC when they signed up.  This was never presented as a "savings account."  They sought reward... took a risk... and, unfortunately, it failed.  But now that things didn't go well (similar to our economy).... they're just going to make a new currency (like the Fed printing more bills), pre-mine, and just hand it out with the guise of "helping the community"?  (Pumping artificial currency into the system NEVER helps.)
Now, yes, I do believe the failure of MtGox was "criminal", either by outright stealing or complete and total negligence (on an epic scale)...  but you didn't see Bernie Madoff's victims at Kinkos printing out money or stock certificates!  Right?  GoxCoin just seems to undermine the philosophy that so many people seem so adamant about when it comes to BTC/cryptocurrency.  Am I wrong here??  (Please try to leave out the "oh, but we were robbed and now we're poor so we should fix that" arguments.... and consider my actual argument.)   Isn't this just the same evil that we're trying to avoid??   I still had a small portion of BTC in MtGox, but I was lucky enough to get most of it out 10-12 months ago.  I pretty much gave up after my 3rd withdrawal request and resigned to the fact that they were either lost... or they'd be sitting there in a year or two.  So what I'm saying is, it's not like I couldn't benefit from this.  I just think it fundamental goes against one of the core values for which we use & promote BTC/cryptocurrency in the first place.  If you really want to help the MtGox victims... there are better ways that don't completely undermine the values we hold so dear in regards to BTC.
I know it's a tough pill to swallow.  I know everyone won't agree... and that's fine.  I just think there's got to be a better way.  Your thought anyone....?

PS -  Btw, if anything...  "GoxCoin"... really??  Why immortalize such a tragic episode in BTC history by naming a coin after it???  Not only will it be a constant reminder of the failure, but I can also see it confusing new users in the future... who only associate that name with failure & bad things.  We need to think about these things.  If you want the value of your BTC to increase... then we all need to work on making this mainstream and easy for the Average Joe.  Why confuse someone new to the game by naming a coin after such a debacle.  I don't think ANY of this was thought about.... NOTHING regarding the "greater good"... just a quick fix to put some money back in a few pockets.  (Artificial, worthless money, I might add.)  Sorry... but this whole idea really disturbs me.
