1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Finders keepers? I found an address with 50 BTC via brain wallet! on: January 18, 2014, 06:53:26 PM
Can't believe you guessed someones passphrase. Stealing the coins would make you a pickpocket. If you found a wallet on the street, 'cause you have a habit of "looking for lost objects", I would hope you would keep the wallet and attempt to contact the owner while keeping his valuables safe. There is a thing called karma if you're inclined to believe in such ideas.

I am dead serious about needing an avatar. And my post's have been far from useless, they have helped me and a few others get answers to issues that don't need to be in non-noob areas. Post whatever you want here, it will be moved to the pertinent section as the moderator see's fit.

Good point. I can give you my URL, will edit OP. Portfolio is still by request, this may change soon. Sticking with the anonymous nature of the exchange only shoots everyone in the foot in the long run when we are offering legal and professional products. The clients can be as anonymous as they care to.

I'm still posting to this area although I am free now, cause some of my inquiries belong here. Now I wonder - how long until I can add an avatar???

I chose D-Link DUB-H7, $25 and available locally (6 usable ports), But I don't know if you can squeeze redfury's onto it. There's a couple big lists of hub reviews and price per port on this forum if you search around a bit.

The way I understand the stratum protocol and desired Pool total network I/O coming from your location, it's recommended to set it according to total GHs power available to you on-site.

In your case (4 GHs), I'd set it to 4 then.

At difficulty 4, I get a lower rate of accepted shares. Is this still advantageous in some way? Each share in cgminer displays either device 0 or device 1, its faster with difficulty 2.

my pool settings are currently set for difficulty 2 running 2x devices, each running at around 2.0 Gh's, since each share seems to be handled by only 1 device at a time -- is this the correct approach? or should I have it set for the combined rate of 4Gh's (difficulty 4)?  Huh

Great post!

I think I started at a point where there's enough knowledge to know that a hobbyist miner like me would be lucky to simply break even. I could have just as effectively bought the coins but the work is part of the fun, and I see some devices that aren't worth a dime of salt selling on ebay for original retail or more.

I've made a ton of mistakes with USD, from investing in baubles to resell, to selling several lots of pricey collectibles & commodities to pay bills or for frivolous entertainment. With all those mistakes and a sum total of zero to show for it, I'm still considering what mining supplies to buy next... so stubborn...
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Best Place to Advertise Services for BTC on: January 07, 2014, 05:56:11 AM
I am a graphic designer, website production specialist & also sell retail products online. I already am accepting bitcoins through my shopping cart on my retail site, but so far no bitcoin customers (granted, it is a niche product, and the world is still awakening to cryptocurrency).

SO, What are the best places to advertise services/products payable by BTC (and altcoins)? Aside from this forum, of course.

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it wise to buy more 38Gh/s Cubes now that their prices has dropped? on: January 07, 2014, 05:34:27 AM
Would it be worth it to use a single usb 1.6gh/s antminer? I'm not trying to quit my day job, just have fun with bitcoin.

I'm running an overclocked antminer U1. I ordered 1 more... good price for low watt laptop mining, but carefully considering "going pro" with a larger unit(s).

If I got you correctly, that's $300 per unit? After looking at a lot of new lowish-end units & combined lower-end unit prices, I figured the price is set around $300-$400 for 10Gh's, so that would be a good deal I think

Hi, after visiting this forum 100x, it is time to contribute.

I started mining ltc/dgc just to get used to command line mining with cgminer & bfcminer. I ordered an Antminer U1, and after reading the entire Antminer thread, got mine running at just under 2.0ghz using the Bitmain's Antminer U1 user guide, running windows 7 on Parallels with Bitmain's cgminer. So far so good. I have a question but think it belongs in the main thread. Feel free to ask me anything you want in the meantime.
