1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: September 22, 2014, 03:11:29 AM
Personally love boolberry. I dont think the name reflects what the coin does, but that's why I love it. It is almost like a cover for what it is. Can you imagine law enforcement having to hold press conferences about fighting the outbreak of boolberry use?

I vote no against rune. It doesn't feel right, and marketing is all about feeling. Dark is the best marketing word to date because it makes you feel like a badass. Rune makes me want to give wedgies.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: September 03, 2014, 07:44:10 PM
Like what Dark is doing lately, and if developers stay on point and the correct fork(s) is chosen, it has potential.

Regarding volume however -- you need to take aggregate of all exchanges and compare them to see what the competition is. On Poloniex, BBR alone has done more than 88 BTC in 24 hrs. XMR regularly does twice that.

Not putting down DRK, but there are a lot more legitimate competitors out there now than when DRK first launched. Hopefully this will encourage continued growth to be the best.

Any update with regards to the XMR addition? This coin has been taking off, and if it had been implemented when the poll was finished, people would have a much larger ROI.  What about BBR? Signs point to this coin going up for the foreseeable future. Even if there was an "auto" option for either of these coins, that would add tremendous value.

I know there are always lots of new coins coming in and flavors of the week, but it has become clear that Cryptonote is a strong technology, and at least one coin using it should be added to the pool (even with an "auto" version). There was a reason XMR was the strong winner of the poll, and with the high liquidity at Poloniex, I don't see a reason why the "auto" option couldn't be added.

Any ETA on when XMR will be added to the dashboard? Thanks!

They tweeted about the price drop, so that was probably it.  Excited to see the poll results tomorrow.

You might have twitter followers but how many referrals do you have for the companies you are pimping? Your game is clear.

I'm here to form a strategy with others. If anyone is making roi on auto-btc (contract 3 plus months in at least) SHOW PROOF you believe it will work over the course of the year contract. Every chart so far has shown this is not the case.

Let's discuss how to use the other benefits of genesis to make a positive return.

These latest 'reviews' have the referral id's baked into them. Set it and forget it is not the way to roi u fudge brownies

I made a substantial purchase (at least for my budget) of a Genesis Mining contract a little over a month ago. I invested about 6.6 bitcoins (at the time I believe the exchange rate was @600). A few weeks later the same contract would have cost 4.8 bitcoins (when the price decreased). I was just outside the cusp of those who received upgraded hashpower as well.

But I'm not here to complain. I'm here to try to figure out how to best use my remaining time with Genesis to get an ROI since I'm behind the 8 ball with the price I invested at.

I have had the realization that with Genesis's Auto-Btc I will not get back close to my initial BTC investment, so another strategy is needed.

Part of what drew me to Genesis was the Auto-Btc function -- their algorithm for mining the most "profitable" alt-coin and converting it to BTC every day. But having now spent some time in "ALTCOIN-LAND" and taken in the landscape ----  the most profitable alt-coin is the one that is going to be PUMPED (whether for valid or invalid reasons). The increase of difficulty and mining competition will ensure the "daily" method of most-profitable-coin mining will most likely not be a winning strategy.  We must take a longer-view strategy.

I started mining Redd Coin on Genesis last week, and since then its value has more than tripled. I did some research on msg boards, found out about the Redd Coin halving and a few other indicators. Wasn't too hard to see there was going to be a spike. So the first step to positive ROI is doing research on the coins Genesis has in their arsenal, mine them directly, and try to anticipate pumps.  Seems obvious now, but for an idiot like me this was a realization. If you haven't purchased Genesis Mining, I don't know if buying the alt-coins directly would be more profitable over time, but having GM mine them and pay them out to my wallets is a huge time saver.

Genesis just added Black Coin, and there is a nice pump going on with it. Genesis Mining said in this forum that the coin looked "promising". The thing is --- does "promising" mean a pump's coming, or does "promising" mean the coin has long term market potential? Was "promising" a code for "YO SUCKAS A PUMP IS COMING!" That's how I took it, and Genesis, please keep using that word when you see one coming. I don't believe BC holds long term market value, but if Genesis does I would like to hear the reasons. I don't like BC at all actually, but seeing Genesis say "promising" made me think they knew something I didn't.

My vote for the next coin is Monero. I know it has taken over the msg boards here and people are annoyed, but it has potential and the right investors (monero's VC). Speaking the choir here, but Anon-coins ALREADY have a market built in (the black market). This is not hypothetical!  Using anonymous coins on the dark web is a NO-BRAINER. Mark my words, this will happen. The first anon-coin that works and has liquidity will have a sizable market value. DRK had promise, but I see them playing catch-up right now -- perhaps they can do it, but it is over-valued right now and is trending down. I have ZERO idea if Monero is going to be THE anon-coin, but of the ones on Genesis' list, it has the best shot.   There's others like CLOAK, zerocash, etc. I need to examine, so please do your own research.

Both BTC and DRK aren't mined directly, but I was under the impression that the rest of the coins on their list were able to be mined directly (RDD, BC, etc.). Perhaps I am incorrect here.

Even if it is like the BTC and DRK options, I would love to have a payout in XMR at the end of the day.

Excited to see Monero on there as a coin.

How is this possible as it is Cryptonote and not Scrypt?

If people are able to use all of their hash power on XMR, that would be a no-brainer of a coin to add.

If this happens, I will certainly be purchasing more from Genesis.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex exchange just added Monero Markets and removed LTC markets on: July 24, 2014, 03:44:28 AM
Well, what matters is if the exchange is profitable, and how low the volume would have to be for the exchange not to be profitable.

B/C as long as the exchange is profitable, why would they shut down?

I don't know the economics of running an exchange. Did Poloniex use to be very large and has been shrinking? If they aren't decreasing in volume and can provide a market for Monero that people trust (read: coins are safe), then it will continue to exist and fulfill a niche. The 2 reasons to switch are trust and liquidity, and right now Poloniex has both.

Poloniex is betting on a certain horse to succeed (due to volume, probably didn't have a choice). If XMR does succeed, Poloniex will be doing quite well assuming they are indeed taking the XMR fees from the trades and hodling.

Saying it is irrelevant is only proportional. I use it and love it, so it is not irrelevant to me.  However, if the you believe that the exchange is losing money and that is increasing the chance of a cut-and-run, I'm all ears.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 05, 2014, 03:08:13 AM
Maybe they (chinese)  are just preparing soil for good exit? Noone wants to  sell everything at low price, so it makes sense to   pump the price a bit, and then  exit;)

If i had 100K of Bitcoins , i would do  it just like that

one does not sell by buying

Isn't that called a pump and dump? Difficult to tell if you are optimistic or a bull troll.

It feels like bitcoin speculation has become a game of guess the news.   Some one else pointed out on here the difference in price differential btw good news and bad has been heavily weighted towards the bad.   This has been the case since the November bubble, I can't speak about before.    Many of the huge initial drops coincided with news coming out of china, and they have never ceased. Whether this was manipulation based on news, who knows? Regardless, it has happened time and time again.

Until merchants opt to be paid in bitcoin at a much higher rate, we will continue to go down. The speculators are here to make money, and this cow will be milked until only the true believers remain.
