1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POW][XTL] 👾Stellite👾 - decentralized node list via IPFS & ZeroNet on: July 01, 2018, 06:49:58 PM
Any tips I should try in this case to get it work with Mac?
The "proper" way to run cryptowallets is inside clean virtual machines, with no other software installed, preferably one VM per wallet (and ideally those machines should only be able to access internet, and not any of the local network hosts). It's probably not the answer you're looking for, but that's how people usually do this when they don't want their coins stolen. My main desktop is running mac os as well, but I haven't ever used that machine to run any wallets so I don't know what kind of problems one might encounter there. I do know that a lot of coin devs can't even build mac os wallets themselves — just looking at the bounties they usually post in the beginning, there's very often "wallet for mac" there (not sure whether it was the case with stellite). So there's a good chance that a lot of mac os wallets out there are not well debugged at least, or even worse. Thus it's better to stick with windows or linux versions. You can get yourself a windows/linux virtual machine running in 15 minutes, plenty of options out there (I think mac os has some kind of native vm environment for windows called "parallels", although I've never used it myself, vmware is my main choice, but there's also virtualbox and more). For cryptonight cli wallets I usually use linux (ubuntu works just fine), but windows will do as well.

So that's the only tip I can give — run a linux/windows wallet in a virtual machine. It'll take some googling, of course, if you don't have any virtualization experience, but it's a useful skill to have.

Thanks for the answer. I really appreciate it, do not get me wrong.

I know I have not got any coins stolen. There´s just an issue with Stellite-wallet since the wallet is not in sync with the current blockchain status.
If Stellite (or cryptocurrencies overall) would like to go viral (and "to the moon") it would mean that solutions and wallets should be rather easy to use.  Also if/when coins like Stellite is offering Mac-wallet  - it would be more than appreciated to offer a wallet which would work. OR if it is not working - please offer solution to fix it. Please Stellite?

I would highly appreciate if there would be a solution for me to get the wallet working with Mac.

OR offer some kind a workaround --> E.g. As a workaround - would it be possible to restore my GUI-wallet with Windows/Linux by using the current security phrazes?

Now I´ve deleted everything and re-downloaded the stellite wallet. Current issue is that now when I got the restored wallet open - the daemon does not start. Is only saying "Daemon failed to start" - "Please check your wallet and daemon log for errors. You can also try to start stellited manually.".

So what´s next? What should I do to get things working here?
I think most of the time the daemon fails to start because it's blocked by anti-malware software. What operating system are you using? If it's MS Windows, then add the daemon process to the exclusions list of Windows Defender. Or just temporarily disable Defender completely, just to see whether the daemon starts after that.

I´m on iOS with MacBook Pro. I had no issues to start the daemon in the first time I downloaded the wallet. I´ve tried to start the daemon with and without the firewall. Unfortunately no difference.
Any tips I should try in this case to get it work with Mac?

Hmm. If the tx was broadcasted and confirmed, and it was sent to the right address, then the only thing I can think of is to redownload the whole blockchain from scratch and re-sync the wallet (making sure you're using the latest version). Delete everything from your wallet folder except your actual wallet and .keys files (or even better delete those as well, but make sure you've got your seed word sequence so you can restore the wallet file), and delete the "lmdb" folder (if it's not inside your main wallet folder), then start syncing from block 0.

I´ll try that out. Let´s see if I got those missing coins to appear into my wallet. Thanks for the tips

I´ve been ensured that the withdrawal from Crex24 have been successful and confirmed.

Where I can ask help?
There's no way to get any help without providing the TX ID. Need to see the actual transaction on the blockchain first.

Here´s the tx id (https://explorer.stellite.cash/tx/bad338f87f840d38d3e888657eb2c72e2fb390d4b4476261f303c634e019a063/1).

I have done several deposits to my Stellite wallet from Crex24.

In the latest deposit I´ve NOT received any coins into my Stellite wallet. I´ve been ensured that the withdrawal from Crex24 have been successful and confirmed.

It´s not working for me even if I´ve blocked all the incoming traffic. Still going to miss most of the transactions as "unconfirmed". I think the last option is to re-do the staking? Now with larger block size per block (current 16K per block)...?
So you got a confirmed block. That means your config is working in general. The confirmation is independent of the blocksize. Maybe your device is very slow? In that case others may get a block confirmed before your block is confirmed. Be sure to have a lot of connections to the HyperStake network. Add all the nodes listed on http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/HYP/nodes.php to your config file. I don't need to block any HYP traffic.

I have added
maxconnections=100
to my config file and have 99 connections active.

@joef Thanks for the answer. stupid question - where do I find my .conf file (I got Mac). Was not able to find it from my Hyperstake-folder. There I´ve only .dat and .log files ...besides the bootstrap-file...

The HyperStake.conf is not automatically created, You'll need to create one in the same directory as the wallet.dat if you need it.

OK - makes sense.
Newbie question: Could someone give me an example of how their .conf file looks like?
Should I add only this phrase "maxconnections=100" OR do I need to follow some kind of command guidance?

@Pokstakeko
Have you blocked all incoming traffic ?

@Trololoh Yes I’ve now blocked all the incoming traffic - except Hyperstake. Can I / should I block that as well?
You should block Hyperstake only.
Or add in config :
listen=0

OK - I see. That´s done now. Let´s hope this works. Thanks for the tips again @Trololoh

It also dependes on your weight ... then it is advisable to have blocks from 25,30K Hyp.

I´ve blocks 16,03K Hyp. Weight at the moment 261K. Days to stake 44,01. Days to stake have been going up and down for days...
Should I do it all over again with 25K blocks OR should I just keep waiting? Any advice?

What does 16,03K mean?  16 blocks of 3k hyp?  or you have 16.03K blocks(sorry the , is throwing me)?  How many blocks?  The "days to stake" is an estimate.  I stake several blocks a day, but according to coin control my best block has 55 days to stake.   so if you have more then 4-5 blocks I would leave them as is.  Actually I would leave them anyway.  If you hover over the mining indicator on the main panel, what does that show as an estimate?  Mine shows 5-8 hours.  That's a better indication for your total stake weight.

I have 16,03K hype per block (value in "amount" column in coin control). Overall I got +10 blocks with the identical "amount". Therefore I´m just going to keep them as is.
You asked to hover over the mining indicator on the main panel. I don´t find it. So my stupid question is - under which tab is that(e.g. under "overview" tab in my wallet etc...)?

Since I´m in a flow with stupid questions, here´s 2nd: In my "recent transactions" I see 2 new rows for +1000HYP which have been minted. It shows the following text
- "Unconfirmed (0 of 6 confirmations. Generated but not accepted. Minted)"
- "Offline (0 Confirmations) Generated but not accepted. Minted"

Balance is showing still the same old? When are those going to be confirmed?
1st You will find that icon bottom right of main window, it's the one that blinks.
2nd The blocks you have found were orphaned, which means that someone else was a bit faster in finding these.
Check your systen clock to make sure it's correct.

1st I´ve three icons in bottom right (1: telling me wallet status 2: telling how many connections active 3: telling "up to date", current dififculty, "downloaded xxxxxxx blocks of transaction history). There is no any kind of time estimations for me here.
2nd My iOS clock is in Eastern European time (EEST). Is this a timezone question? If yes - Which timezone it should be? Or did I get this totally wrong?

1st I had the same problem when using pre-compiled bin, icon is "hiding" between 1st and 2nd icon, moving your mouse between the 2 should show a pop-up.
Either compile wallet yourself or hope that it gets fixed.
2nd Timezone has no effect but sys clock should
be synced using internet not manually.
If you're still getting orphaned blocks try blocking all incoming traffic.

1st Oh - I see it now. For me it shows next stake in 22-34 hours.
2nd I´ll try to sync sys clock by using internet and see if it have effect. If not I´ll take a look if I need to start blocking incoming traffic.
Thanks for the answers!

@trololoh - for a while things seems to be working now and I´ve received the first +1000HYP transactions as confirmed.
Now I got the identical issue. The transactions are coming in but they will not get confirmed. I´m not facing these problems with any other wallers I´ve been using for staking. I´ve now tried to change/sync my time by using Apple America instead of Apple Europe (time.apple.com). Let´s see if that makes any difference. I don´t believe that´s the case but...

Hello,

I´m new here.

Could someone please let me know what I´m doing wrong when trying to get started with staking. It is taking so long for me to get staking started.
I´ve done everything like this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ufrBwNDWts) is telling me to.

Problem is that the age of my blocks are now +15 days but still "days to stake" in coin control is showing +30 days.
Why is that? Would appreciate a lot if someone could help? @presstab

Hello fellow Hypsters,

Started to stake HYP. All went well and now I got about xx blocks there with the block size around 16000...
The issue I face is that in coin control I see my ”days to stake” value as 999.00.
Why is that? I don`t believe I should wait that long to be able to stake - right?

Value in ”Age” column is raising as it should but ”days to stake” stays in 999.00. Could someone help?

Qt version: 5.7.1
Wallet in sync (via bootstrap) and open for staking.

Best Regards
PokStakeko
