In my point of view Ethereum is the best option to invest rather investing in Ripple. for second option you can invest in Litecoin. I don’t advise to invest in Ripple.

Yes i strongly believe, all the Altcoin ups and down depends on the Bitcoin, i don't thin its ETH. I have seen many times when market was red.

You are planning to invest good amount, my advise to invest into multiple Altcoins rather investing in one coin. Litecoin is a also good option for long term but better to invest in other coin like ADA, IOTA, Steller and Monero.
