1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin 20 Years From Now on: May 21, 2017, 04:12:48 AM
We are now experiencing the efficient, fast and amazing convergence of technologies which one way or the other greatly contributing to the rise of the cryptocurrencies and making Bitcoin as the King of the Hill so far.

Looking into the future...what do you think will be the scenario involving Bitcoin twenty years from now? Will Bitcoin be worth more than a million or will it ceased to exist? Or will a new crytocurrency replace the supremacy of Bitcoin...?

There are 100 threads with the same topic here.

You should search and read before asking this.

Nobody can predict the future after 20 years.

Bitcoin might dissapear or might become stronger.

I don't mind this topic and many repeat topics coming up often, because I like to read current opinions given the current status of BTC and news. It is fun to discuss and predict based on what we are seeing now rather than a month or a year ago.

If the company were to shut down or the website, would I lose all my money invested into it?

Wow you guys are awesome! I really appreciate you all looking into this site for me for real!
I live in America and already have USD so I will not be transferring anything to USD. The reason I was saying USD is because this is a btc site and I wanted opinions on the future of USD just to know if it is worth investing in.

Someone mentioned that USD is "strong", therefore it is really risky. I thought if the currency is "strong" then you have a better chance of profiting?
Someone also mentioned ETF (I don't understand this) but in an article about the site it says that Betterment handles ETF:
"Betterment will build you an efficient portfolio comprised of widely diversified, low cost ETFs. If you don't want to manage your own portfolio, or hire a financial advisor, Betterment is tough to beat for the very low price."
4  Economy / Economics / Should I start Investing USD? (Betterment?) on: April 25, 2015, 05:25:48 AM
I am sorry if this is in the wrong place, I really know very little about economics/financial stuff.

I am 23 and a college student and a part time employee and my annual income is around $7,000 (I focus more on school right now than work).
I have always wanted to learn how to invest but every time I try to research I get overwhelmed and it feels too complicated to me. But then I found this company website/Iphone app called Betterment and have been reading a lot of good reviews about it both from the App store and on websites. (I am in no way advertising this or spamming, this is a sincere post) Basically it manages your portfolio, it helps you set a goal and gives you advice on what to invest in and everything is just done there and to me it actually looks doable for once. The fees are really low and based on your account balanced. Basically if I start with $50 the monthly fee is $0.02 and if I had $30,000 in the account it would be $6 a month.
But here is also a general warning given in an article about it which scares me:
"In this Betterment review, I have to provide a common sense reminder. Like all market investments, Betterment’s stock and bond investments are subject to market risk. If the markets are up, your balance will likely grow. When markets go down, your balance will likely shrink. You have no guarantees and Betterment is not a FDIC insured savings account.

If you need your money in the short term, a savings account might be the best place for it, because you’re guaranteed to get back the the same dollars you put in (known as your principal).

When you invest in stocks and bonds, risk is present and you can lose money. The fact that you are taking more risk also means that you’ll likely earn higher returns over the long term."

So this statement made me want to ask you guys that I assume are more experienced investors, is it too late to start investing? Do you think the American or USD economy will crash drastically soon and is it even worth it???
Would you recommend this for a beginner.. trying this site?

BTW here is the article review I looked at:
http://cashcowcouple.com/service-reviews/betterment-review/

EDIT: This site is appealing to me because they apparently no longer have a minimum starting balance and having very little money I could start with a very small amount.
Basically I want to know if this looks like a legit, safe, and good site for a beginner like me from an experienced investor.  Also, does it look like I can take out money from profits at any time? Or do I have to keep money in my account and not touch it? Idk these things.

I claimed my 2500 nxtty coins or whatever they are called. But I am looking at this app I personally don't really understand it and when I click on my wallet I don't see an account balance or anything. I will try to figure this out though.

Your balance is zero now, but your 2500 reward will be sent.  Please let me know your user name so that we can expedient your rewards.

If you post in Open Chat then someone can tip you 1 nxttycoin which you will also see in your wallet.

Hey sorry I kind of gave up. I am laying down now about to fall asleep I will see if I  can take a screen shot tomorrow. Its a red page asking for email, password twice and I think something else. The very first page that showed  when I downloaded it and opened it for the first time. I filled it out assuming I was registering and when I clicked log  in a please wait message showed with a spinning circle appeared, then it went away and the same screen was showing with filled out information. Won't go past it.

Yes you filled the 1st page correctly....then there should be a 2nd page which ask you to chose your Alias.

The screen shot will help us get to the root of the issue.

The app updated yesterday and now it goes to the Alias page, I have it set up now.

I'm sorry but I can't get past the first screen.
I think it may have to do with Android 5.0 but will need to recheck with Dev team.  As we have tested on some other Android 5.0 tablets like Asus.

But we do have more than 50 users with 5.0 at this moment...can you un-install and then reinstall again and let us know if the same thing is happening.

I'm sorry I looked there and can't find it =\
This 5.0  version of android has made my tablet run slow and things keep crashing

We have just pushed a new update to the playstore with support for an additional 1,500 devices it looks like your device is now supported can you please check and let us know.

Hey I just saw this and checked it and I was able to download it now!! =)
Except... I am stuck on the registration screen that comes up when I open the app. I filled out the information but when I click enter it says please wait then the please wait goes away and the registration screen just stays there.

You should be on the Alias page...you need to chose an Alias at this point and hit subscribe.

Thanks! I just don't want to miss out on the coins =P

You are very early so no need to worry.

Hey there, just letting you know I updated my system today  on my nexus 7. I have 5.0 lollipop.  It still says not compatible  on my device.

Google has asked us to provide them the IMEI of affected devices, can you provide us this number so they can check.

Thanks

I looked in my "about tablet" section and it has various information such as model numbers and IDs but I do nor see "IMEI".
Is there another name for what you need or anywhere else I should look?

Sounds daft but we should measure the value of bitcoins in Big Macs or something like it.  It would give a far clearer picture long term.

Are you talking about the affects of inflation/deflation? Or just joking around? lol Tongue

On a serious note, somebody already did that with the dollar and compared the prices that you got for things like coke, I'd need to dig around to find a proper chart and stuff though.

I think he was being sarcastic because dollars are the best way we  can measure/understand the value

Can you maybe message me or let me know here when it is updated? I can try it on my device and let you know if it works.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is bitcoin core? on: November 17, 2014, 12:02:58 PM
It's the "original" software, the reference client. It downloads the entire blockchain (20+ GB), so takes a lot of space and can be pretty slow.

You don't need it unless you want to help support the bitcoin network. The average user should not be using it.

Okay thanks,
I still don't understand but good enough for me. Lol
17  Other / Beginners & Help / What is bitcoin core? on: November 17, 2014, 10:09:04 AM
Sorry this is probably a stupid question but I really don't know can someone briefly explain what "Bitcoin Core 0.9.3" is for me? Every post I look at about it assumes that everyone understands what it is. Is it something that I need to have if I have bitcoin? Who is the person that updates these things and "regulates" the bitcoin system?

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should I be doing? on: November 17, 2014, 07:33:09 AM
If you do not have a strong graphics card (GPU) that you already use for gaming, I would recommend not getting into the mining game. If you only have a CPU, it is very hard to mine any coins. It is not the easiest task configuring and optimizing a machine while still keeping it cool and not noisy and not to mention doing some maths calculations on electricity costs to still be profitable. It is way easier to just buy a coin from the exchanges and track the price whether it goes up or down.

To determine which altcoins have the most potential, a good resource to start is to look at CoinGecko. There are many metrics on the website giving you stats on the developer activity, community strength, trading volume, market cap etc. You may use these stats to make a judgement on which coins may be strong.

Thank you so much for the reply bobster! I really appreciate it a lot.
I guess I won't try to get into it then, I guess I am just searching around for ways to maybe make a little bit extra money.
