1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone been able to contact Minersource.net? on: April 03, 2014, 12:47:01 PM
I don't want to detract too much from the above post... apologies this has happened. As tough as it might be, I don't necessarily think it's worth going on a vendetta against Minersource. I had the same frustrations at first, mainly because they weren't particularly upfront about the delays they were experiencing. But ultimately, I'm not here to dictate what others should and shouldn't do  Lips sealed

I've just spotted the 'new' new Minersource site, so we're now on version 3 I believe?

It mentions that previous orders for the Prospero X-miners are being migrated over to the new platform. Has anyone that placed an order on the 'BigCommerce' platform had their Prospero orders migrated across yet? (i.e. receiving an email invite for the new site?)

I've a problem with minersource.net, i've sent the money by wire transfer with the order number, but when i ask them to verify. They tell me they have not received the money :/
my bank tell me they have the money since the 11 march!

The support has always reply to each of my questions! they are serious i think.

I was wrong, they just received the money today!, now I hope I'll receive my order quickly!

signed of a COINEX victim.

Yeah, it looks like Minersource are getting their act together. I emailed them this morning for an update (I sent a new email as opposed to a 12-long email chain) and got a response by midday.

I don't want to say it's luck of the draw as to whether your emails get answered, but I was very surprised (and tentatively impressed) that it seems like they're finally getting a grip on their customer service.

Nice one Minersource, most pleased you got back to me so quickly.  Cool
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / Small project - Wallet Backup Utility on: March 15, 2014, 03:12:37 PM
Hi all,

Not sure whether I'm posting in the right forum, so apologies if this isn't in the correct place.

I've had a very strong interest in C#/.NET programming for the past 6 months or so, and have been coding a few 'pet projects' to get my head around the language and framework. I'm also looking to get into a Junior .NET Dev role with work, so I'm doing what I can to learn/code a handful of different WinForm applications, in a bid to soak up as much knowledge as I can in the meantime.

Anyways, I'm going slightly off-topic so here's something I've been working on.

As fellow BitCoiners, I'm sure you're all well aware of a strong recommendation to back up your wallet.dat file for your CryptoCurrency wallet. I've put together a small Windows-based backup utility (approx 1MB in size) that automates backing up/renaming of your wallet.dat file, so it can (for example) be easily copied over to external storage in the event of your original wallet.dat file from being lost (e.g. PC corruption, Windows reinstalls, etc).

I've put the compiled .exe onto GitHub. I'm sure there may be a bit of concern regarding downloading an .exe, but I've attached a screenshot of the application, in case this might alleviate those concerns.

I'm sure this won't revolutionise the backing up of wallet data, but it's a start, and some of you BitCoiners might find it useful.

Link to the GitHub Release - https://github.com/SJ985/CryptoWallet-Backup-Utility/releases

Any sort of feedback etc would be greatly received.

Anyways, I've rambled on enough. If you decide to use it and think it's something worth pursuing, let me know Smiley

Peace.

They must change the way they support their customers and start to respond to emails.

Agree 100%.

By the way, just a question this time....  (I've done my fair share of complaining over recent months!)

In case it isn't already common knowledge, Minersource.net has now migrated over to a new platform/website, which is grand. I noticed at the bottom of the page that it mentions orders from the old site are being imported into the new site.

Has anyone had their order migrated into the new site yet?

I address this message to @bobsag3,

I sent you a refund request in my last email. And haven't got any answer (no surprise). Are you playing games or doing business? Please confirm the receipt and processing of the refund request! I need my money back!

Wow... well, best of luck to you my man...

If you hear back, let us know. Fingers crossed you get a swift response.

Don't hold your breath Wink

Email sent to Black Arrow Customers(meaning Minersource will be affected as well):

Quote
Dear Xxxxxx,

We have to inform you that our schedule to manufacture and assemble the system has been disrupted and we are unable to make delivery of the Batch 1 Minion ASIC chip on the initial scheduled date (end of February). We are now expecting to dispatch all Batch 1 orders on 1st of May 2014.
Please be re-assured we are confident that we have tried our best to accomplish our initial ambitious targets. However, we came to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of our customers to delay shipping in order to ensure that the product provides the best-possible user experience.
Without this delay we would have achieved 1.5W/Ghash which would have meant that our chip would not have been competitive at all.
We have now finalized the design process using our newly improved code and will start manufacturing the chip (tape out) in the next few days.
We are happy to announce that Black Arrow Software’s products remain on target for being the best in their class for power consumption. We confirm that our latest improved design has the following technical specifications:
·0.75w/Ghash on TT corner @ 25C which is expected to run at 120Ghash/sec.
·SS corner will be 0.6w/ghash and will run at 100Ghash.
·A further underclocking and underpower should be possible and should yield 80Ghash @ 0.5W/ghash. However, please note that this is not guaranteed to work stable.
Please note, that a further push for improvement in the optimization process would have guaranteed further delays for at least 1-2 months.
It is no secret to us that the Bitcoin mining process is proving to be more and more difficult every day. To compensate our loyal customer for the unforeseen delay of in delivering our miners for batch 1, we are happy to offer free extra hashing power which consists of 25% of your purchased hashing power from our Rent-Some-Minions cloud program for 4 months.
The account for the tape-out has been settled in full and we are confident that the delivery will be completed shortly.
We are taking all the necessary measures and positive actions to expedite delivery to you as soon possible and we are confident that we have the resources to be successful.
Please note:
·We estimate that the delivery for the Batch1 will coincide with the delivery of the Batch2
·The delivery of Batch2 remains unchanged
·The one-off offer presented above is open to the customers who placed orders for Batch1
Sincerely,
The Black Arrow Software Team

So basically Black Arrow website customers will get free hashing power for 4 months, while Minersource customers could potentially get a hot turd in a blanket and a smack in the dick.

We're awaiting word from Bobsag3(owner of Minersource) who met with Black Arrow officials to see proper compensation and/or proper refund processing.

You can see the drama unfold on the main Black Arrow thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=294197.1600

Nice one for this, much appreciated.

Shame I had to find out about this on the forum (as well as from Black Arrow) as opposed to being informed by Minersource, especially as they told me a few weeks ago that my order was ready to go in February.

Hot turds in blankets sounds about right... It's just fucking grand isn't it. I seem to think that I justified preorders a couple of months back, and I remember reading horror stories about Butterfly Labs. Looks like my pessimism is here to stay.

Roll on May for the next push-back  Angry

Just a thought on this one. Having recently spoken to Minersource via Skype (I'm UK-based so didn't fancy a long distance phone call), and they providing me with an update regarding my order, I generally feel quite satisfied with the response I received. That said, I heard what I wanted to hear, which was that my order was safely received, payment squared up and that my preorder from December would be delivered on 24th Feb (as promised).

However, I am still somewhat nervous about the whole affair. No longer to the point where I'm tearing my hair out... I'm starting to find it mildly comical, considering I've parted with my hard-earned cash and I may not (or may!) receive a unit by the end of the month. Who knows...

Essentially, I've got a partial fallback plan in place. I know that Minersource are based in Colorado, so in terms of protecting my business transaction with Minersource, the UK's 'Trading Standards' are unlikely to do anything about it. However, having done a bit of research into it, if the units don't turn up in a timely fashion, I will more than happily go to the Better Business Bureau and do what I can to take Minersource to the cleaners. If they don't deliver the goods, I'll make god damn sure I get my money back.

Period.

When did you call them, because nothing is shipping on February 24th.

Batch 1s are delayed until May.

Interesting... well I spoke to them a few weeks ago. My order was placed for Batch 1, Round 1 (whichever order it's done in, not sure), to be delivered in February 2014 . Since then, they moved onto Batch 1, Round 2? (please correct me if I'm wrong here)... and if you were to place an order today, you'd be buying into Batch 2, which don't ship until May 2014. That's as I understood it anyway, although as I said, if my facts are wrong, I'm happy to be corrected.

Perhaps some public clarification from Minersource would be warmly received.  Roll Eyes

Their customer support is really bad. I'm wondering how many employees are currently working at the company? They claim to be an official distributor of Black Arrow product in the US but it seems like the business is not yet well organized. I really don't like when someone just ignores me emails. Especially someone who I paid my money for any reason. A customer who pays money pre-ordering something is supposed to be a bit nervous - because the money has gone but the purchased product is still yet to come.

My story. I made two orders and paid for both of them by wire. The interval between payments was three weeks. They got the first payments and didn't get the second one. Both payments were made by a template - they are absolutelly the same except for order numbers. I wrote several emails (actually about a dozen) and even got several very short replys. They claimed that they haven't got my wire yet. I requested a SWIFT-document at my bank that proofs my payment and sent it to minersource. No response in one business day.

A good customer support is a key to a successfull business, guys.

Interesting points that you raised there vilgem. I completely agree that as a consumer, preorders are supposed to incite a bit of nervousness. You are essentially funding a project with the hope that any deadlines that a company is working towards will be met successfully and that you'll receive the products you pay for.

That was my gripe before, where it seemed the company was happy to raise capital from preorder sales, but providing what could only be considered 'minimal' customer support at best. The first part of this isn't a problem, as preorder sales exist all the world over. However, if I were to pay a fair amount of money for a preorder, the least I would expect would be a reply to a string of about a dozen emails (which still to this day, haven't been replied to). This isn't a problem for me any more, as I have contacted them by phone.

I don't think Minersource are a bad company to deal with. The impression I've had after speaking to them on the phone, is that they are a small company with a handful of employees. Great for them, but they may not have been prepared for the unprecedented amount of business that they have received. This may well explain why lots of emails aren't being replied to.

Either way, any successful business needs to provide adequate customer support. I don't think they're at this point yet, but hopefully this is a lesson learnt for them. I hope that I'll be able to give Minersource more business in future, but this will depend on how quickly my preorder is turned around.

I have called Matt @ Minersource on several occasions and he has ALWAYS returned my call within a reasonable period of time. They tracked down my order when I had questions and answered everything quickly.

I'm sorry your having issues, but my experience has been the exact opposite.

The number is 573-202-0370.

Thanks for this - I've been on a bit of a rampage over the past few weeks and decided to visit as many places as I could and raise a bit of awareness about Minersource.

When I first placed the order, most correspondence was received incredibly quickly, and I honestly cannot complain about them when it comes to placing an order. It was painless and hassle-free.

The only thing that caused me major problems was that I placed my order on the old website, and when the new site was created, it looks like the 'old site' orders were cancelled (not sure if I'm alone here, but if anyone else had a similar issue, it would be great to know).

Naturally, having paid out a fair amount of cash for my preorder, I wanted to make sure that my order and payment were safely received and that I would receive my products around the specified despatch date. So after about 5 weeks of emails/PM's on the forums not being replied to (hint hint, Minersource!), I decided to take the initiative and call them up. Spoke to a friendly guy there who explained that they are insanely busy at the moment, hence emails and stuff not being replied to.

Arguably, that's not my problem and is not the best of excuses for not replying to a 5-week old email, but hey, they were really friendly on the phone and said that they were doing their absolute best to reply to emails and to migrate order data from the old site and into the new. Finally, after locating my order, they confirmed that everything was squared up and I was good to go. I was happier knowing that I finally had a simple answer I've been furiously trying to get hold of for weeks.

Generally speaking, if you're having problems contacting them, phone them up. You'll save yourself a lot of ball-ache and will most likely get the answers you're looking for.

So... all's well that ends well. Shame it took this long but we got there in the end.

sorry about that op. hope it gets sorted

Cheers. I hope no-one else has to go through this ordeal.

Impressions so far is that Minersource is a Mickey Mouse outfit...

There's a link to the old site at the bottom of the home page of the new site

Long story short, after paying for the order on the old site, it is now showing my order as cancelled

As mentioned in my original post, this is the problem I want addressed...

My order has been paid for (on the old site), and now the order status is showing as 'Cancelled'. So from my perspective, Minersource have taken my payment and cancelled the order.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Anyone been able to contact Minersource.net? on: January 22, 2014, 12:13:23 AM
Hi all,

I really didn't want to do this, but I feel compelled to start a new thread to find out whether people have had any luck contacting Minersource recently.

I've posted in another old/archived Newbie thread but I can't seem to reply to it any more.

Since the beginning of the year, I have been tearing my f***ing hair out trying to contact someone at Minersource regarding an update with my order. Long story short, after paying for the order on the old site, it is now showing my order as cancelled, and I have no way of checking progress of my order on the new site, as my order has not been migrated across.

I preordered for despatch on 24th February, but I have no goddamn idea whether my order has been successfully received. It's been paid for (which is great!) but I have not a clue whether it is going to be shipped in Feb or not.

I have emailed Minersource relentlessly(!) but not received a reply. I've tried contacting bobsag3, and have been asked for an order number. That was over a week ago, and now my PMs aren't being replied to.

Minersource - sort it out! All I want is an order update. You're happy to take my hard-earned cash but at least show me the courtesy of giving me an update with my order please. At least confirm you've received my payment and confirm my order will be shipped.

I appreciate you're busy, but take a few minutes out and have the decency to reply to my messages (please).

OK, so I've tried contacting one of the Minersource guys on here...

Still not getting much in the way of news. I'd like to place future orders with them, but right now it just feels like I'm trying to get blood out of a stone. Overall impression so far, is that they're happy to take my money but not provide much in the way of customer service...

Anyone else having issues contacting Minersource?
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help! Has anyone been able to contact someone from Minersource.net? on: January 14, 2014, 08:56:16 PM
Hi there, new to BTCtalk aswell, so hi all Smiley

I'm in a similar boat with Minersource, but I'll explain the story so far....

I placed a pre-order with them back in December 2013. For the duration of December, and creeping into the New Year, my order status was 'Awaiting Payment', despite little confirmation from Minersource that the order was successful etc (the only email I received, after emailing them, was that my BitCoin payment had been safely received). No invoice, no nothing... just the email.

It would appear that since placing my order on their website, it's had a facelift and BTC payments are now automated, whereas they were manually processed before.

A major beef that I have at the moment, is that after asking for an update as to whether my order status would be updated, I was directed to their old URL (http://archive.minersource.net) . I checked up on my order status, which had been updated from 'Awaiting Payment' to 'Cancelled'.

Since discovering this, I have emailed countless people at Minersource for an update, and so far, no-one has returned my emails!

So thus far, and with this being my first (possibly last) order with Minersource, I have absolutely no idea as to whether my order is going to be fulfilled! I have followed a few Reddit threads, but Minersource don't seem to be getting involved in the discussion(s) there either.

Starting to panic, as I forked out a fair amount of cash for my order.

If anyone has recently been able to get in touch with them, or even if there are any guys from Minersource reading these forums, a response to my emails would be greatly appreciated. I understand and appreciate that you (and Black Arrow) are incredibly close to launch date, but a simple reply to approximately 5 emails might give me a thread of reassurance.

Anyway, rant/gripe over. Any replies would be hugely warmly received.

Si.
