1  Economy / Economics / Re: Major Cryptocurrency Investors Are Betting Heavily Against Ethereum on: August 03, 2018, 12:52:04 PM
When I see "analysis" like this all over the internet that could mean only one thing, it's time to fill the bags of ETH.

2  Other / Meta / Re: Is merit point System Really Working on: August 01, 2018, 10:00:46 AM
I think that the scoring system works well, but unfortunately there is one important shortcoming.

Merit groups are formed, which are exchanged in exchange for financial benefits. What if they cheat others. It is important that there is money, people cheat and it is sad that the administration "does not see" it.

The question is. What will all this decentralisation do for us? From blockchain to the Stone Age? ..

You miss one important point here. Merit sources don't give merit for shitposters, so there are no "Merit groups". And those who exchanging merits for financial benefits are usual users who have some sMerits after Merit drop, but they will run out of sMerits soon.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE TO JR. MEMBER - Time required for change in status on: August 01, 2018, 07:06:11 AM
After the new cycle starts it doesn't update your activity automatically, you have to make a single post, and only after that activity updates. While you didn't reached the cycle activity limit, your activity updates every hour.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE TO JR. MEMBER - Time required for change in status on: August 01, 2018, 06:57:28 AM
Yeah, sorry my mistake, slide calendar to the wrong side.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE TO JR. MEMBER - Time required for change in status on: August 01, 2018, 06:36:32 AM
You don't need anything else. Activity updates every two weeks, there is a sheet with exact dates, when it happens. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA/edit#gid=1012758442

Activity starts to count after your first post, and your first post was on July 12th, which is 2 cycles.

TL:DR your rank and activity increases from August 1st. (7/31/2018 20:46:40)

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Split Bitcoin blockchain between SSD & HDD and speed up the initial sync on: July 30, 2018, 05:39:08 AM
You can also improve read speeds if you use hardware RAID 1 (disk mirroring) where each disk is on its controller. On Windows, I usually save all the blockchain files inside a VHDx file

Could you explain how exactly you using VHDx format for the Bitcoin core client?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: myetherwallet not send tokens on: July 30, 2018, 05:17:00 AM
Have you tried to change the network from the default one(myetherwallet.com), to other networks?
8  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 27, 2018, 02:53:03 PM
I think it is when we report them for copy pasting it is a waste of time searching for the source if they are already banned. I guess it also wastes the moderators time going to ban them again and finding it's already done.

This. And overall would be great to know if any of reported shitposters got banned.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 27, 2018, 02:32:58 PM
Probably, to prevent abuse. If someone is temp banned for a week or so, and this is public knowledge it could come up later down the line. I'm not sure about displaying banned members. It can be useful for reporting, but I guess removing their message if it infringes the guidelines is probably the right thing to do anyway.

I have always wondered, why we can't see who is banned and who is not. To prevent abuse which you mentioned, temp bans shouldn't be shown, and perm bans should.

I think, best case scenario everybody should see who is banned and who is not. If that's not an option, users who actively reporting should get this privilege, as a small bonus.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy tokens before tokens be issued on: July 27, 2018, 02:18:47 PM
I will prefer to buy tokens already listed
Its much better and safe because they have some worth and tokens are not issued can give you serious lost because these can go either way mean in big lost or never appear which is not good for investor

SHITPOSTERS ALERT. You two, OP doesn't care what you prefer, OP asking how to issue tokens before doing ICO.

There is no reason why you can't sell tokens that are delivered at a later date.

Agree. If you already have somebody who believes and wants to invest in your project, I don't see any reason why you can't deliver coins/tokens at a later date.

Reason is you sell only promises. Author can never deliver because he is technical not competent enough.
He can hire competent technical person? That would have total control over his coin? Wink not really
This is why so many ICO are fail/scam etc.

And what is all ICO's selling? Worthless tokens = promises.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Account blocked...please solve this on: July 23, 2018, 08:56:32 AM
There is no fast way to unlock your account, people waiting for months for the account unlocking. Have you staked your bitcoin address anywhere in the forum? If yes then follow the usual account recovery procedure https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0. If you don't have your address staked anywhere in the forum, there is very small chance to get your account back.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How are all the Crypto Websites created? on: July 23, 2018, 05:58:56 AM
Not all of them, but pretty much majority using wordpress. In ThemeForest theme devs making theme templates specifically for crypto/blockchain/ico sites. There is one example https://themeforest.net/item/icos-bitcoin-and-cryptocurrency-wordpress-theme/21626006 and I've seen quite a lot of similar sites with this theme, and there are much more themes.

As of making a website, it's pretty fast with WordPress, at least what majority do, buy the theme, install page builder, some plugins and you a ready to go. Usually to build fully functional page if you have all content, takes few days.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Split Bitcoin blockchain between SSD & HDD and speed up the initial sync on: July 22, 2018, 12:58:06 PM
Thanks for the guide but can this be used also for splitting bitcoin blockchain between SSD and an external HDD or will it only work on internal hard drives? I've wanted to do it because I want to save space as much as possible on internal storage spaces to lessen lag on my Personal Computer when using it daily while running a full node myself.

I didn't tested myself with an external drive, but it should work. Parts in the guide with HDD change to your external drive, and you should be ok. I had a thought maybe there could be a problem with symlinks to an external drive when you plug it off from PC, but tested it now and symlinks stay in place after you plug it off and plug in your drive to the PC.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / [Guide] Split Bitcoin blockchain between SSD & HDD and speed up the initial sync on: July 22, 2018, 11:07:02 AM
So, for a very long time, I wanted to run a full node myself to contribute to the bitcoin network. I had a very low space on SSD, but enough space on HDD. However, I read that downloading the whole blockchain using only HDD could be problematic as it might take days, and probably never fully catch up with the network, but I still wanted to try it myself.
I installed the Bitcoin core client, and tried to sync the blockchain only to HDD, but after 10 minutes found out that the expected sync time would be 4 days, which is way too much.
So, I decided that I need to split the blockchain between SSD and HDD. After splitting, the expected sync time dropped to 9 hours, so in 15 hours I finally had a fully synced blockchain on my PC.

How I did that? Here are the steps I followed:
 1. Download and install the Bitcoin core client from the official website. https://bitcoin.org/en/download
 2. After installation, you choose where the Bitcoin Core is going to be stored (wallet, and whole blockchain). Choose HDD (in my case it's 'F:/ disk') and press OK.
 3. Let the client run for a few minutes until it creates necessary folders and downloads all necessary files. Close the client (wait until it fully closes).
 4. Create a new folder in your SSD (in my case it is 'C:\Users\user\Bitcoin')
 5. Go back to HDD where your wallet & blockchain is located. Backup the whole folder in case something goes wrong. From there you will need two folders: 'chainstate' and 'blocks\index'. Copy and paste them into SSD folder you created ('C:\Users\user\Bitcoin' in my case) and delete those folders from HDD.
 6. Press Shift + Right mouse on Bitcoin folder in HDD and choose 'Open command window here'.

 7. Type: 'mklink /j chainstate C:\Users\user\Bitcoin\chainstate' and press 'Enter'. You should see the message 'Junction created for chainstate <<===>> C:\Users\user\Bitcoin\chainstate'.
 8. Do the same with second folder, type: 'mklink /j blocks\index C:\Users\user\Bitcoin\blocks\index'.
 9. Now both folders should appear in your HDD disk and it should look like this.

 10. And we're done, start Bitcoin core client and let it sync.

Folders in SSD will take about 3-4GB of space and the whole blockchain(~170GB) will stay in HDD.

They probably running text through some free text spinner and editing themselves a little bit more. I ran both texts through wordAI, and looks like they pretty much similar.

yes im ready, i so sad lost my account because now is so hard to make ranking up use merit.

You ready for what? Have you read the thread and followed all steps to recover your account? If you didn't staked your bitcoin address in a forum, you almost have no chance to get back your account.

I'm just curious, for what exactly do you think people receive merits?
19  Other / Meta / Re: is it ohk to award merit like this... on: July 21, 2018, 06:08:44 AM
I don't see anything wrong with that thread. At least newbies have to think a little bit, read forum rules, to answer the question, or to turn on common sense.

He clearly stated how he chooses winners of merit, only first 5 with correct answers.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to learn Basic IT and Linux on: July 04, 2018, 08:29:02 PM
My suggestion, at least how I learned everything. No books, no courses, or other boring stuff. Come up with an idea what you want to do, google how to solve it, there is 90% chance, that somebody had the exact problem as yours, and follow the guides which you found. Then google parts from the guide which you don't understand, to get a better idea of how everything works. At first tries you'll have errors all over the place, read them, and google what they mean and how to solve them. This way you'll learn everything by doing something useful, instead of reading, or watching boring courses, etc..
