4 Units with PSU 1.45 BTC
10 units without PSU 1.35 BTC

Intested in two with power supply's. May I ask what power supply's are being included ? and will they work on 110v lines ?

Sorry to hear this, I hope you get your refund, it will cost a lot to ship them back.  What happened to them, what kind of damages?

Mtnminer

All 3 miners received, all 3 broken beyond repair. Asked for money to be refunded on paypal. We'll see what happens.

I'm not sure the address will fly to ship back, i asked the seller to confirm this. Also stated I want money to ship back.

I filed a claim with paypal that is now in my favor.

Cords cut, capacitors broke off, tplinks busted, cases bent, etc.. 2 of them nothing inside was connected to the case. 3rd was ok, but broken parts.

I am on the same boat as you regarding paypal. I shipped them back the broken parts for repair and they still haven't accepted delivery.

How much did shipping cost? I'm waiting to hear from paypal on shipping back. I'll let them know that they aren't taking delivery.

Its $378 to ship the hunk of junk from SoCal back to china.

and $118 to send a small 3lb box which they still haven't accepted delivery of.

BTmine asked me to ship back the boards that where defective and they are MIA at there location even do they knew my stuff was arriving this week.

So I spend over $100 to ship btmine back the 3 boards that came defective for repair as they requested and guess what ? No one in sight for the first delivery attempt = Angry  at 11:40am

I really don't get this machine. All I did was keep reconnecting the lan interface until finally the pings came back under .0xxxx. Is it that the network card they used is a cheap piece of crap? Can I change this part out to a better one? If so, any recommendations? Also, can anyone verify that the cat3 cable I installed by mistake will not work? The rig connects to my network on it and I can connect to it. After moving my rig back on a known working cat5e line it still had high latency issues when ping openwrt, until eventually working after reconnect to lan several times.

Edit: According to google cat3 is good for 10Mbps. I only have 6Mbps on this crappy att dsl. So theoretically the cat3 I have should work for this application just fine? Maybe if I would've just kept hitting reconnect it would've worked on that line as well?

Length of the cable will cause performance to degrade significantly. You may need a repeater or extender for the Ethernet in order to boost the signal through that length.

I'm having problems running my rig on the ethernet port I installed in my garage. It works fine with the one I installed in my house. I think it might be a latency issue. I can ping openwrt.org from it. This is what it does over and over.

I am not trying to excuse BTmine, but I have noticed looking at this forum and others that have Chinese eruptor cubes for sale used, there is a fairly high rate of module failure out of the box new is common!

So, that leaves us the consumers with facts to consider, Butterfly Labs is slower than molasses flowing up hill in winter, but the units I own from the have worked flawlessly.  So if we want Chinese delivery speed, we will have to deal with Chinese quality issues.

I wish we could have both quality and speed of delivery, but these do not seem to coexist often in the ASIC's world.  As a former RF Engineer I will take the speed of delivery, the best quality I can buy and do some fine tuning and tweaking of the units I purchase.  I will still be ahead of waiting for a January order with a March delivery date if I am lucky.

Mtnminer

They have no excuse!! all they had to do was wrap the boards in anti static bubble wrap and tape it to the chassis. Just doing that would of prevented all the problems that we are having. Who in there right mind would just leave unscrewed delicate components to free float inside a metal box with pointy fan screws to fly across the pacific ocean in a bumpy ride.

I contacted them about my defective boards and provided pictures of the unboxing and damages. They want me to spend money on shipping which was estimated this morning at $120 to ship them back the defective blades for repair and wait to who knows how many days or weeks to get them back.

So 16 hours later I have gone through so many mood swings to the point that I have filed a dispute on paypal. As you may know my machine came damaged and I tried to make the best of it. it came with 3 dead modules. I was able to fix one permanently by re soldering the capacitor that fell off.

As for the other two Its been nothing but a cup of anger all day with them. One has a damaged SMD P fuse that I just don't have the station to fix it with and the other one I got hashing briefly before it was just dead. The third one I just have no clue whats wrong with it I have looked at with over and over and I just cant see any signs of damage or bad soldered components. I got my machine hashing at 180g from 168g that I was hashing at yesterday.

Not only am I dealing with dead modules I also discovered that one of them is only hashing at 50% which in return frustrates me even more. At this point I just rather ship it back and get my money back. Its just not worth the frustration as it feels like its falling apart. The fans kept shutting down on me so now I am running them straight from the power supply's at full speed.

Back on my fan pb, I can't force a RPM. It keep going up and down idk why. I set temp target to 50, it's now 52° and fan are decreasing speed.

raaaaaah Roll Eyes

Some numbers seems to be reversed. Try higher target instead of lower.

It's like i can't force cgminer to a fix % fan. I set the temp target at 60 but same problem, it starts hashing with fans at 2600rpm, with --avalon-fan 50 and go down to 2150 and 2060 and 1980 etc etc etc, then stop.

and now its stopped

I was able to fix the fan problem slavo by unpluging the 2nd temp sensor now I am able to keep the fans at any speed with out them turning off like they did before.

After 3 hours of messing with my new avalon I got it hashing with the functional modules  Undecided looks like 3 modules where damaged in shipping ill have to take them apart tomorrow and see if I can fix any of them. I am currently hashing at about 170gh with no fan issues with two corsair 750w CX modular power supply's currently on sale for $79.99 at newegg if you buy them before midnight they also come with a $20 mail in rebate making the final price on them $59.99.

Just got my machine running  its only hashing at 140gh but I am having the same problem as you after about 6 minutes the fans stop spinning also I dont have any fan RPMS listed under the cgminer status window.

When ever I apply --avalon-fan 20 or any other number they speed up for like 2 seconds then they slow back way down.

did u flash them ? I did because it was impossible to connect; that's maybe the pb ?

No I didn't flash it the firmware that it came with is 20131110

So I just got my 1-8-14 Avalon Order a few minutes ago and During the unboxing I discovered that my Modules had been bouncing inside the case all over the place during shipping and one of them was damaged I don't know if its major or if it will make the module worthless when I power it on. From the looks of it I think the edge hit the fan a bit to hard. As you can tell in the pictures the whole inside of the case was scratched up heavily from the module moving around. Also In my inspection I came across one of the capacitors being a bit loose at least that's something I can fix but as for the SMD component that looks like it was crushed I don't know Ill update in a bit to let you know what the result is once I fired it up.

10-12 days seems about on par with what's been happening lately.

Can anyone confirm or deny if I should just trash the included PSU's in the US?

They are 170-230Vac you need 220v connection for them. See pictures few pages back.

They will work fine as long as they don't blow up.

Now New problem I purchased 2 coolmax PSU and they are rated for 750w @57a and for some reason they are not powering up when connected to the power distribution board. Does both PSU have to match for it to work? are the 2 6 pins are inter changeable? Not sure what's going wrong but it does not power up. I can do the paperclip trick and it runs but it will not power the blade. I'm halfway there just need to get power to the other blade. Anyone know this answer?

Okay so do you have a pic of the other end. I am still running the PSU that came with it on the other side. I'm not sure if I'm putting the plugs in the right place. I'm not even sure what the plugs do. All I know is that the fan would half spin then stop. Anyone else that provided their own PSU have a answer for this?
Reading through all your post is really starting to scare me. Please don't electrocute your self. I don't want to read the yahoo news post about you on the front page with the Headlines GUY that had no clue what he was doing Electrocutes him self trying to setup a bitcoin machine!!!

Quick warning to anyone switching out the PSUs. You must have at least 60a on a single rail for this to work. I have now blown four PSUs trying to get this thing working. It just swallowed up two 750w 53a PSUs.

Pistachio thank you for the info I have a quick question. Is it 60 amps per 12volt connection or 60 amps as a whole. The reason I am asking is because I purchased two 1350 Watt Enermax Platimax power supply's for the avalon but the 12 volt rails are individually split to 30 amps each. Will this be a problem.

I don't know if the 1350 will be okay. I am quoting 60a as a whole but keep in mind I just blew out two 750w 53a on single rails. So, I thinking it needs more than 30a each, at least on the main PSU that starts it up.

Here are two PSUs that I have tested and are currently running fine at 210-220Gh stock settings.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153174

and

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004N951VW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 you can then check the max amps here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182239

They best way I found to check is to pull it up on newegg.com and go to the specifications tab. Newegg is pretty good about listing this info. Amazon is horrible about it.

May I ask what 750 power supply's did you blow up ?

Stock PSU is actually multi-rail.
600W 80 plus Bronze
Draws about 930W@220V at the wall with freq@1400 with the stock PSUs.

Thank you for confirming the rail amp requirement Guava. I guess I should be good in that department once it gets here.
