1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will end the hype of ICO ? on: May 23, 2018, 12:36:40 PM
If we look at the search trends and hype around ICOs we can see that it is lower than 2017. The euphoria is going down since a lot of investors had lost their funds. The hype could end at the end of 2018, since all major advertising networks are banning them and regulations arise.

But that could be the good news, with increasing regulation and difficulty successfully promote ICO, there will be
more quality projects that will survive. They will need to start with decent initial funding from private investors. Therefore ICOs will need to go through more due diligence.

I would say there are 2 positive outcomes for ICO, getting listed on exchanges and getting product adopters.
Right now it is not that hard to get listed on exchanges, ICO has to be unique and have impressive sale.
However people who were investing in ICO just to sell off the tokens are forgetting that most of the people think the same way.
That can just lead to massive coin drop.
However if project can have realistic application in the world and will be able to build the demand for the coin, then it is more possible
that project will eventually reach its' full potential. But that is why most ICOs fail, they focus so much on raising money and forget about
the most important part of the project: their product. Without having growing base of product users they are destined for failure.

46% of 2017 ICOs have failed, source
Even though those projects had sufficient investors and strong teams, there is one important thing ALL of them were missing.
DEMAND for product.
ICOs were pitching ideas that they will bring change to the world, saying to investors what they wanted to hear.
Huge demand for product, saving costs, huge adoption of the product in 2-5 years.
Although a lot of teams were claiming that their ICO will disrupt the [insert industry], that simply wasn't happening because of problems with real world integration and lack of product adopters.
