1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 23, 2014, 01:47:10 AM
Frankly guys, it's time to shut off the miners and find better ways to make a profit.  Sure BTC is moving up slightly, but there is no way the ALT-COIN market is going to recover.  There are more than 291 altcoins on the market with more coming out every week.  Even if BTC were to increase by 25-30% of it's current value there just isn't enough hash rate to go around and these new ASICs will NEVER ROI.  It's a losing proposition for everyone not on a free electric grid.

I invested 2K in mining equipment and I have only recovered about 60-65% of my original investment (and I started in DEC of this year).

At least 1K of it was in GPU's which I can now use on gaming, so not a total loss.  (I made back a little over 1.2K USD in "mining" after electricity and I pay .07/kilowatt - which is better than most.)

Prices are a fraction of what they were in JAN-FEB ... anyone who invests in new mining gear will be lucky to recoup 25% of their investment.

I keep checking back here to see if profits make an out of the ordinary jump like they did when white coin came out, but other than that I'm done.

Good to see its not dead, thats an accomplishment!!!

There are no active nodes.

I was with this program from inception and never had a problem with my wallet syncing, but now it shows there are NO active connections to the network.

I even pasted this long ass list into the config file and restarted and nothing.

I am guessing everyone finally gave up?!?!?

I currently have most of my miners shut off due to the low value of all ALTs on the market (that and it's starting to heat up in TX).

I would like to see a new coin come out that can turn the markets around.

This coin looks like it has the potential to do this with a new ALGO (POH) so I'll wait till release and give it a try.

Now that you have a new ALGO will you also look at addressing other issues plaguing other coins?

How will you handle Bot Nets?
How will you handle Multipools?
Will this new algo have a unique miner like Vert?
How will you prevent forks and 51% attacks?
(I could go on and on...)

I look forward to reading your white paper and ask that you add me to the list.

Thanks.

Honestly, the whole "gay fish" joke is old now.

REBRAND the coin as ANYTHING and everyone can get some value from it.

Who has the power/ability to do this now?

http://daft.cc/auroracoin/compare

Auroracoin back to #1 as the most mined coin. I hope you guys are loaded with cheap coins as the next pump approaches.

You should know better than to spread false hope. With the exception on yourself, it's telling that the newbies (who are probably bagholders) are praising this coin and the members are sceptical. And people thought it would overtake Litecoin (poor deluded fools).

dude why don't you just STFU!! god damnit!! Put some confidence in the coin or get the fuck out of the thread and go buy whatever coin you don't think is shit..  I'm fucking tired of all the god damn dumping of coins because someone had a bad opinion of them..

People don't dump coins because one person has a bad opinion, they dump coins because they're shit and soon going to be worthless.

But, but, but ... it's gonna be the national currency of Iceland and solve all the problems that Iceland does not have and ... it's just good, goddamn it!!

Said it before and I'm gonna say it again.  THIS IS A SCAM COIN and it will be bad for crypto's in general.

Has anyone tried to withdraw anything?  I have been mining with the pool for the last 2 days yet when i try to withdraw it keeps giving me a "New accounts are not allowed to withdraw funds in the first 48 hours."

I'm wondering if we have a MTGOX situation where they don't have the LTC to payout.

You're probably not completely over the 48 hours threshold yet. I've just emptied my accounts there just to make sure, had 10 LTC and 0,5 BTC there, showed up in my wallet in under 10 minutes, so I'm not expecting a gox here.

OK, I'll sit tight for another 8 hours.  Thanks.

Was concerned due to the changing promo thing.  Thought maybe they over reached their ability to pay out.

Thank you for US East Server.   0% reject after 2 hours and going!!!!

Soooo all this talk about the rejects being the fault of inexperienced miners goes out the window when a simple server change removes rejects.

That's basic troubleshooting 101 and some folks here spouting BS about inexperienced miners need to offer up some apologies...

Fo anybody that wants to know more about national ID system in Iceland please feel free to check the link below.

http://bjss.bifrost.is/index.php/bjss/article/viewFile/63/65

It is clear that this idea can be executed via the ID system.

Can, Could, Might, Would..... Will it?  Nope.
You can doubt the intentions not the actaul system.

We can all doubt the intentions because we are not mind readers and have no idea if the DEV intended for this coin to be a scam or not.

We can all doubt the actual distribution method because there is none.

If there was then the following questions would be answered:

Where are the websites and detailed TECHNICAL PROOF of any kind of coin delivery system.  Where are the WHITE PAPERS showing his plans to thwart hackers and folks who would try impersonate Icelanders via VPN or by generating fake National ID's via algorithm like a common key gen?  Where is the proof that the dev even has ACCESS to all the ID numbers in order to prove they come from the national database?  Where is his list of Icelandic addresses if he wants to send paper wallets?

Let alone how is he going to explain what he is even giving away?  Contrary to popular belief, most folks don't even know what a BIT COIN is, let alone what a Auroracoin is.  Does the dev think that all these folks are going to get on a computer and take the weeks of reading and searching to find out wtf a crypto currency is, how exchanges work, how to convert to BTC/ Etc?  If he plans on delivering "paper wallets" who is going to explain to the common folks how the encryption keys work or how to "sweep" those keys to a physical wallet?  Where is his program for mass adoption of this coin in Iceland?  There isn't even a SINGLE place in Iceland that will accept this "coin".  NOT ONE STORE.

He would have had to have MASSIVE (AND I MEAN MASSIVE!) youtube, twitter, blog-o-spere, and PUBLIC educational videos already available BEFORE the coin went live in order for this to have a chance in hell of ever working.  Even with ALL the above the chance's are still TINY that the country would adopt any crypto.  People on these forums just need a reality check of the fact that most people aren't even computer literate (sure they can get on facebook, and type out a few emails, but that is pretty much the extent of it) let alone able or WILLING to do all the research and experimenting with cryptos to even make it worth their while.

I could go on and on.

The reality is that there is nothing but WORDS on a website.

Only some anonymous coin dev making promises that he can't deliver.

No matter what happens with this coin it WILL BE bad for crypto's, and ALT COINS in particular.  This will be seen as another failure because the DEV of this coin did NOT do his homework BEFORE release.

This post is not FUD, nor is it an attempt to move price one way or the other.  It's just a fucking reality check to those of you who are blindly believing in the promises of some random person on the internet.  IF that isn't the definition of gullible, than I don't know what is.

If you want to go on about the short term profits of this coin, or how your market orders are doing well, fine.  I'm all about that.

But let's call a spade a spade and stop the bullshit about this coin actually doing ANYTHING positive for the folks in Iceland.

As they say... "PICS or it didn't happen!"  I say show me the PROOF instead of just WORDS on a website.

So again one more time:

Better to just keep your mouth shut than to spout of more stupidity.

 Wink

Show it to me and all the folks on this forum.

AND then explain how the DEV is going to use it to implement all the questions from my previous post.

To set things straight:

I put in effort to this because I believe it has a serious chance of success and can contribute extremely to the global acceptance of crypto!
I do this not because some dev or any other entity pays me for it, I do this to support all my other efforts and assets I've put into the Crypto business so far!
I am a strong believer in doing things that need to be done if you want them to, that's why I am an internet entrepreneur for over 22 years
Things Ive done include a lot of studies and work, but also investing over 45K in equipment. That has brought me a lot so far including several K of AUR.
And yes, I'm one of the nut cases (IYO) that actually is going to fly to Iceland to support this! Maybe even hand out paper wallets to grandmothers Grin

If you are really serious in getting answers, put aside your bowl of popcorn and actually start doing some homework first. After that, I will be the first to accommodate you with serious answers to educated questions

HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Your post says it all.

You have a shit ton of money invested in equipment so you don't want the TRUTH to be made aware so the value of the coins you mined become worthless.

I totally get it.

You have a financial motivation, and that is completely understandable!

I wish you luck... my post still stands.

Even if you fly yourself over there (HIGHLY DOUBTFUL) you will not make a dent in the distribution of coins to over 300 THOUSAND people.

End of rant.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 05, 2014, 05:15:49 PM

I see your doubts and understand completely how you feel. But there is another way to look at this. Compare it to bitcoin, you started your "chime" with the right word, namely IDEA! This is all de dev had to introduce. Just like Satoshi Nakamoto did with only his whitepaper of a coin, later to become Bitcoin. But the dev did far more than just that, he paved the way voor a community (I mean guy's like us) to pick it up and together with him turn it into a success! And as one of the more serious contributors to this initiative I generated the feeling of trust along the way as I became more familiar with not only the real insights of the Dev, but far more important, the insights we as a community can bring together to really make this work!

You see, this is not done by a singel Dev (team), this can only work if the community behind it puts in its share. We all like Crypto because it takes control from banks and governments and gives is to us, the community. Therefor we (the community) must take that control, rather then sitting back and wait for a Dev-team to become the next bank that is the only one in control. That is exactly why Balduro has given us all the space to create our own control!

I totally get where you're coming from, community effort is great and all, but to be done properly the dev should have made a website, and posted on some message boards saying, "Hey I've got this idea, help me figure out how to do it, then once the plan is in place, we'll start the coin." BEFORE mining anything. Making a new coin isn't hard, so don't act like he's some kind of genius saint for copying a copy of a copy of a coin, which has been done hundreds of times already. That part isn't hard, the hard part is figuring out how to do this properly. Now the project is on a strict, arbitrary timeline.

Lack of proper planning only makes this less likely to succeed. If anybody really cared about making this a reality, the plan should have been in place before a single coin was mined.

If this fails, it will look bad for the crypto community. I mean holy crap, there's less than 3 weeks to the "airdrop" and we don't know the exact mechanism for it. It seems like this project is being treated like a final project for a class that everybody forgot to start until just before it was due.

This is exactly my point.

Spot on.

As a person who's actual profession is "Technical Project Manager" I can tell you this distribution method with ZERO PLANNING hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding.

Have the DEV post the list of all THREE HUNDRED TWENTY THOUSAND Addresses to prove that he even has those addresses.
Wow, you really haven't done any research about Iceland at all, have you?

Actually I don't have any of these coins, never did.

You do realise, right, that simply shouting angry things at anybody who is questioning the validity of your claims, automatically voids your assertions?

That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. Critical thinking 101.

I never said that these things were going to be done, I merely pointed out that they could easily be done given Iceland's unique situation.

You, on the other hand, are just screaming insults at everybody and making bold. yet unsupported, assertions about how things are not going to be done because they are just words on a screen.

Using the whole "It's the community's responsibility" to do what the DEV or DEVS said he or they were going to do is a cop out.  No one is going to waste their time and energy to do so unless they are being paid.  And even if the DEV sets some bounties and asks for community involvement, done of that is going to be possible without the information I have already stated that the DEV or DEVS doesn't actually have.

If he/they did, then he/they would be proving it to the community right NOW, being as the "supposed" air drop is less than a month away.

Seriously you zealots are deluded.

Maybe you should prey for Jesus Christ himself to magically appear on the doorsteps of all Icelanders with a new computer preloaded with a digital wallet full of Auroracoin!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The True Value of Auroracoin on: March 05, 2014, 04:54:29 PM
I said this in another thread, and I will say it again here:

The entire concept of the DEV of this coin actually distributing the coin to the folks in Iceland is going to be an EPIC failure or a TOTAL SCAM.

The DEV had an IDEA of distribution but released the coin without a REAL implementation plan and either one of several things is going to happen.

1. He will attempt to find a manual method of doing distribution, or will mail out some random paper wallets, or find some other half ass way to do a TINY bit of distribution and claim that he is meeting his promise.

2. He will give the coins to friends, or perhaps to a group of folks on an iceland forum board or IRC channel (These folks may or may not be actual Ice Lander's) and claim that he is meeting his promise.

3. He will dump them him self or by using friends and other associates... if he is smart he will do this slowly in combination with some of the above mentioned.

4. He will dump a bunch of the pre mined coins himself in large quantities (get noticed) and disappear with a large profit.

What I can GUARANTEE YOU will NOT happen is that the coins will be distributed to all ICELANDERS as promised.

Sure there is a national ID system that "COULD" be used for verification purposes.  There "COULD" be a method of checking an online form fillers IP address for Icelanders ISP's.  There "COULD" be all kinds of things.... BUT all that SHOULD have been put in place BEFORE the coin was launched, and all of that WOULD have been in the media many months prior to seeing it show up only in forums that discuss bit/alt coins.

I completely understand folks jumping on new coins for quick profit (I do it myself), but the amount of Zealotry in this thread makes me sick to my stomach.

All of you in this thread need to ask yourself these questions:

Where are the websites and detailed TECHNICAL PROOF of any kind of coin delivery system.  Where are the WHITE PAPERS showing his plans to thwart hackers and folks who would try impersonate Icelanders via VPN or by generating fake National ID's via algorithm like a common key gen?  Where is the proof that the dev even has ACCESS to all the ID numbers in order to prove they come from the national database?  Where is his list of Icelandic addresses if he wants to send paper wallets?

Dude, why are you so angry?

Iceland is a country with a highly educated population with a very high proportion of internet users.

<>300K people being sent a mailshot letter that is going to give them free money is not likely to be ignored and is extremely doable, think about how much shit comes through your mom's letterbox every day.

Have the DEV post the list of all THREE HUNDRED TWENTY THOUSAND Addresses to prove that he even has those addresses.  You can't because he doesn't and neither do you or any of the other zealots on this board.

You are just spouting bullshit because you don't want the speculation value of your coins to crash.
