1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: May 16, 2014, 03:36:05 AM
Put me on the list of refunds pending.  It makes me very nervous to hear about so many others.  Maybe I got scammed even harder than if I'd taken delivery of the unit.

I can't speak for Dusty, but with current known and assumed information, someone took a bath on that unit.  The only set of scenarios that let that thing pay off at list price, you'd be better off buying coins with the money rather than the hardware.

I think that the most interesting part is that the answer doesn't matter.  If it's real or not, you're here and can witness cause and effect.  Whether it's a simulation, a dream, a freak of quantum mechanics; you have agency in a universe with internally consistent rules.

Don't go crazy, and enjoy it!

if theyre shipping from stock, where the f**k is my april order???

some ppl talk so much shit its hard to wade through

Send in a request to cancel your order.  I did (except to actually cancel) and boom, next e-mail was that my order was preparing to ship.

Activity (at least on my account) equals posts.  So you could spend all day reading threads and learning, but have a lower activity rating than someone who posts a bunch of 'me too' posts that add nothing to the conversation.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [SUPPORT] Coinmine Pools Support Thread on: February 08, 2014, 11:48:31 PM
The pool address is wrong.  Use cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://mine1.coinmine.pl:6350 -u username.worker -p workerpass
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: IF MT GOX DIES THEN BITCOIN PROBABLY WILL TOO on: February 08, 2014, 03:30:47 PM
It won't matter to bitcoin itself.  I have a nub account and I know the Gox was a bad place to do business.  However, it will matter in the court of public opinion.  For some reason all the mainstream articles use Gox as 'the' exchange.  They only quote that price, and they will see this as a big problem.

For bitcoin to go mainstream, the press is important.  If people think bitcoin is a scam, or just for illegal trade, it keeps it bottled up.

Using a free trial of cloud services might get you 10+MH/s, and is a nice way to get a boost, but he was asking about the people with hundreds of MH/s sustained.

Those people with the giant hash rates are probably running a botnet, or are 'borrowing' resources from their work network.

The delays in orders make it hard to use sometimes, but I've never had problems with deposits or withdrawals being processed.

Some referbs have warranties, Dell usually does.  Either way, the first thing you should do is run some sort of wipe tool on the HD.  DBAN has boot CD's available for download: http://www.dban.org/download
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold would be worthless in a post apocalyptic world on: February 01, 2014, 08:24:09 PM
As Kluge points out, it depends on what apocalypse happens.  To me the most likely scenario is some sort of total failure in the power grid.  Things would go to hell very quickly, and I couldn't see trading anything I need for gold in that scenario.

Once things stabilize, gold probably would return as a means of exchange for the same reasons it was used in the past.  It's chemically stable, it's scarce, and it's shiny.

I have the same problem, I can t post even If i just logged on, can someone please tell me how to fix this?

I think I read that logging in counts as a post.

Yup, actions like signing up, logging in, searching will reset the timer.
So, mysicguy, you can't post when you just logged in, you need to wait 360 seconds.

IIRC, the time limit will be just 75 seconds when you reach 15 activity.

It'd be nice if the notice said something like this.  I'm usually just here to read, and if I want to reply, then I log in.  Annoying part was how it ate the reply I was trying to post when it came up.

Quark benefits extremely outweighs SecureCoin at this point.

Any chance that you can go over some of these benefits?  My knowledge about SRC and QRK is limited, but I see one side saying that SRC is just a clone of QRK, and the other saying that QRK was heavily pre-mined.  For me, the pre-mine is a reason to avoid QRK if they're both so similar.

If I had a December order, I'd probably be freaking out a bit, because I'd want it now and figuring out any performance issues could take a while.  From an outside position, I think this is a great starting point.

I think that if they can't get it to goal quickly, then they should let the customers with outstanding orders pick if they want 'right' or 'right now' for their unit.

The way the difficulty keeps going up, I know which way I'd lean.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do we know re ASIC for Scrypt coins? on: January 12, 2014, 12:16:35 AM
I've seen a couple companies who are trying to sell them, but I don't think anyone has shown one working.  Until then, I vote fantasy.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: yay, stupid newbie miner questions! on: January 12, 2014, 12:02:36 AM
What is share difficulty

Difficulty is how hard it is to compute a hash.  With the same computing power, higher difficulty will produce fewer hashes (and thus fewer chances of a coin solo and fewer shares in a pool).
