I don't think crypto bubble will resemble the previous 2000 stock market bubble or the real estate, there will be many many road blocks by the governments if it gets too big and that will be overnight. Plus the security issue is huge, you put all the money on exchanges where non of them are regulated or insured. If someone gets into their server and steals the wallets there will be billions lost, don't see it happening. I think it will be slow growth because of the technical aspects involved with crypto.

sorry for the grammatical errors, I am sure there are many Smiley

Oh, your concerns are completely valid and there are many more. Regardless the opportunity to trade is here in our face. Play it smart and fast. I don't keep any of my coins idle on a market unless I am sitting in front of it or it happened to be a bad sell order. I lose on tx fees but I would rather lose that than an entire wallets worth.

I like doge. I didn't at first but I see value in it. Regardless of face value
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin is now infinite! on: February 06, 2014, 10:32:10 AM
Short term yes, you can you probably will make a return some kind.

The primary reason I created Marinecoin was dogecoin. when it first came out I saw the potential bought 20 BTC worth doge, crazy right. it went all the way down to 5 BTC in two days, I made money on it finally sold for 30 BTC but the waiting was ugly.

I finally understood that the exchanges were scam they did not allow me to sell at large amounts changing bid and ask when I put the sell order etc. I was so pissed I was working on a regular coin myself at the time and then it dawned on me. I work with formulas mathematics I set down two months with 4-5 hours of sleep, came up with a better way where no one will be ever scammed.

ah, so your post had a huge agenda. You run the site. Check the spelling on that post Smiley. It is not crazy to buy 20BTC with dogecoin at all. I have close to $15,000USD dumped into doge atm. I will drip the sell orders as not to cause any type of major dip like some jerk ass's do. I don't want to mention what exchange I use but I find it fantastic. Buy orders can get a little annoying when day trading and there are some quirky bugs with sessions but overall I trust it enough.

You do need patience in such a volatile market. When testing doge/btc I was mad when I bought at 150 and watched it sink to 130 with only 1 BTC a few days ago. I never let my emotions get involved and just held my sell order and eventually it let go. I wanted away from doge until I did some massive research on it and found out that dogecoin helped Jamaican Bobsledders get to the Olympics.

That will be mentioned at the Olympics for sure. Anyone that trades on any other markets knows what happens with huge positive media coverage applicable to what they are trading.

I think there will be overnight millionairs when it peaks. The bubble will burst and doge will settle but never at what it is trading now. These will be the good ol days.

This is just my opinion based on my research and not financial advise. if you cannot afford doge don't buy into it. If you have some capital to invest go for it.

here is info for why dogecoin will never be used as a real currency, read carefully

http://www.marinecoin.org/#!commonwealth/c13ls

Whoever created that post needs to learn to spell especially if they are trying to get a point across. Your statement "dogecoin will never be used as a real currency" falls into all cryptos at the moment. None of them are real currency Tongue. Regardless I just bet my left boob on doge. I am either going to bank like mad in the coming days or take the next 10 years to pay off all my creditcards I just maxed on VirWox. Not to mention their ridiculous fees.

I believe it will pay out. At least in the short term!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin is now infinite! on: February 06, 2014, 09:54:11 AM
It is only speculation what the future holds for doge with an unlimited ceiling. There are good arguments on both sides of the fence. One thing is for sure come tomorrow (or the next day depending on where you live) when the 2014 Olympics start there will be HUGE media coverage of dogecoin.

Future or not it would be highly advised to either buy or hold what dogecoin you have because the price is going to skyrocket.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Today's list of Shit and Scam Coins --- January 18th -- Ed. 3 -- on: February 06, 2014, 05:12:22 AM

This artcle was written on January 18th. The quality and quantity of coins launched have greatly diminished since then. There is research done, as i check the account and the history/background, tech specs...etc of each coin. Or i tried to at least, people update their initial coin posts. So what you see now, is not what i saw back then in the early stages.

These threads were created for 1 purpose (again this is the mentality back in january) and that was to inform the readers from what to watch out for.
I can't force anyone not to support or invest in a coin. Look at Vertcoin, yes it was on my list. I had to revoke that claim and admitted i was incorrect, but it still succeeded in the end.

People chose what coins to support, i do not. I just help by bringing the tiny details to life.

I shouldn't need to do research. That is the job of these posts right? I am well aware of the "quality" of all the coins flooding the market. I know the difference. I know what trad-able hype coins to ride and what ones to avoid so I don't need to read over your threads. The point is you are attempting to put an opinion of alt coins on those that do not know the difference or are new to the community without merit. That is just as dangerous as the coins themselves.

I also know when this thread was created. I saw the post date but I felt my opinion was needed here.

Most of the coins you listed I never heard of besides VertCoin which I do trade short term. Personally I see no harm in Vertcoin at all as far as trading. The hype is there, the volume is ok and I make money. What is wrong with that?

I cannot tell if the points you make against these coins are genuine (although it seems to be your personal opinion) or malicious (you have an underlying agenda)

So please be more neutral when outing altcoins. Like socialshares for example. Odds are it is just copy-pasta clone code but other than that what makes it so malicious that people cannot have fun with it? The value of these cryptos is only what the digital community puts on them. From what you posted I just see it as someone with little knowledge attempting innovation. What is so wrong with that? Why list that in with the pre-mine/scam coins?

What is this line you are creating and where are you drawing it?

I do not want to do any research on socialshares but since you outed it can you please clarify why this is a "shit coin" other than the fact it is just a clone?

Thanks
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Today's list of Shit and Scam Coins --- January 18th -- Ed. 3 -- on: February 06, 2014, 04:54:36 AM
I read all of your threads and some of your posts have merit but a lot of them are just bias opinions from what I can tell because you do not provide any real information about certain "shit coins" or even your definition of "shit coin" itself. Some are blatant greed/scams but others seem to be people honestly trying innovation of some kind.

Like this coin for example:

2) SocialCoin - I really laughed at this. Check out its logo, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418607.0. The logo and the name have nothing to do with each other. Our Socialcoin developer is trying to appeal to your sub-conscious about helping people and doing better for human-kind. The only good this coin will ever do, is line the pockets of it's devs with some dollars. Do not support this monstrosity, if you want to help charities and homeless, i wouldn't be doing it on these forums.

Really? I never did any research on this coin but the point of your posts is so we don't need too right? Odds are this is just a clone coin (as 99% are) but from what you just posted it tells me that someone is at least trying something within the community. So what the dev could not use paint shop pro and had to use mspaint... I never knew that artistic talent == trust.

I didn't bother to read the announcement thread either. Maybe this coin is a scam but the point of your posts is so we do not need to research through the shit either right? Where is the shitty-ness of this coin? Why does it fall into a list of blatent pre-mine/scam coins? Because the author has a logo that does not appease your artistic taste?

This is just one example of many I picked up within your 3 threads. There seems to be more personal attacks on coins than genuine "look out for this scam" coins

I see this specific post (from what you wrote) is just YOUR PERSONAL OPINION and nothing more which makes the whole point of your posts less credible. What if I decided to say that you creating these threads is just to try to create some credibility so when you create your own shit coin to line your pockets it will at least get to "step 8"

What is the point in creating multiple threads when you can just update one?

This is not an attack on you personally. I think your intent is genuine.....just like social shares?

You are part of the problem.not the solution in this clone/hype/scam coin community.

You are feeding similar shit to the same sheep....Just using a different spoon.

Hey, is everyone tired of developer fees on linux versions of xptminer? Sure - the developers made it all possible, but if you are like me, you are pretty greedy with your coins. That's why, I took the open source code for xptminer, and removed all of the developer fee sections of code! Why am I posting it here, well to get donations of course! I'm well aware most people wont tip or donate, but it's worth a shot! Here's how you do it:

I accept tips to: removed
Type the following lines in the terminal:

  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install build-essential bc curl dos2unix fail2ban haveged libboost-all-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libssl-dev m4 -y
  wget —no-check-certificate removed
  unzip xtpminer.zip
  sudo CFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native” make
  ./xpt -o http://ypool.net -u user -p pass

I am running this on several of my machines with ubuntu, and it has worked fine for me. Let me know what you think. It's exactly the code off github, with donation code literally just commented out haha.

Don't bother. Just read the new source and you will see why. Wink anyone using this source is at risk of losing their MTC
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 06:14:28 PM

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".

The truth is - of course Average Joe is not interested in cryptocurrencies. They're just a hassle - you need to send your money to an exchange, buy whateverCoin and only then you can finalize your transaction. It's way easier to use a credit card.

The only real way to achieve any level of adoption is to have a vendor accept your coins, possibly with a discount for purchases (let's skip the curing obesity stuff, unless you have an idea how to implement that. Proof of running, maybe?).

But that's a vicious cycle - in order to have a vendor accept your coin, you need to be big, and in order to be big, you need market adoption. No vendor will accept an experiment based on an experiment.

Besides, you keep talking about LTC - what made LTC known to masses? It was one of the first cryptos other than Bitcoin and it had a new PoW algorithm. You claim that the second is not a way to make it big, and the first is now unattainable.

And this coin can be marketed to an extent. "Prime95 that you can pay your bills with"? Sounds fine to me.

LOL @ Proof of running!

LTC is only where it is at today because it was indeed the second coin into the market after bitcoin. Bitcoin needed something to trade against besides fiat and it worked. As mentioned it had it's own PoW which solidified it's validity within the market and here it is today. Riecoin would have worked if it was released at the beginning or before primecoin. Now it is just "another coin" in the sea of endless alts.

Is it better than most if-not-all releases? yes. Absolutely.
Will it make it to the markets? yes.
Will merchants adopt it? probably not and there lies the problem. It is a problem with LTC too as most if not all LTC merchants were built specifically for that crypto. It is an endless loop and uphill battle within the crypto market.

I agree it is not all about the crypto. If Riecoin was able to add something to the coin to get out of the coattails of primecoin it might be sufficient enough to push itself into the markets. Maybe the authors have something in mind? Maybe this discussion will help Riecoin.

Maybe I will eat my own words?

Only time and innovation will tell. I wish nothing but the best for Riecoin but based on informative launch I see nothing but a small blip on an ever expanding ocean of crypto alt coins and at this point it is nothing I want to burn my CPU's on.

Prove me wrong OP. Take it to the masses.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 05:29:25 PM

Of course the altcoin market is saturated. The point is, coins like this one at least set the bar a little higher. If people keep picking coins with at least an innovative PoW, that will cut off the basic coingened scrypt clones.

And let me repeat my question - What do you expect?

This coin does set the bar higher I agree. It is better than most being pushed through the market. Sorry I missed your question. In order for any alt-coin to break through the market it needs to be innovative enough to stand against the founding fathers of crypto. BTC and LTC for example. No need to get into the reasons why they are where they are at.

Out comes hype coins.

Then prime coin. Searches for prime numbers. Oh this is new and helps with science! Science is good right? Sure Riecoin does it different but the real target audience doesn't know and doesn't care. Most people get lost after the word crypto. Many people got lost when we wen't from money to debit cards. How do you think they feel here?

Regardless of the difficulty of creating an altcoin it needs to stand out in an easy way that makes people want to join in and purchase/trade/adopt them. Make a coin that helps cure cancer, stops obesity, solves world hunger, removes the american debt. Those are just quick examples but any cryptocoin needs to contribute to society in such a way that it grabs not only media attention but anyone outside the pool of crypto fanatics like us in order to stand any chance within an accepted market.

Transition into crypto being a valid currency exchange is an uphill battle made worse by hype coins. It is an inevitable issue but be smart about it authors. Jesus.

Let the hype coins hype. Release something that grabs on and "goes to the moon".

This is not a personal attack on the author(s). This just happens to be the unfortunate release that I happened to blow my steam. It is a step in the right direction but alas, not enough.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 05:07:39 PM

No the only thing that is irritating in this thread is you/your sock puppet. Different way of finding prime numbers, are you this stupid? Hint: primecoin searches for CUNNINGHAM chains. That's not searching for primes from 2 to infinity like you apparently think was the case...

If you're invested in Primecoin you would have wanted to get your facts straight before that. You know, facts about your investment kinda affect the valuation Wink.

this proves my point exactly. You referenced primecoin against this coin. Is there money to be made here? sure there is. Just like there was with Moon, MTC, cent,Quark, mmc and all the other hype coins. What I am saying is there is no innovation with this coin. Nothing. I know well the difference between cunningham chains and prime but when it all boils down there is no real innovation for end user. This would have worked a few years ago but not now.

The delivery is great. no premine, a step to prevent mass mining at the beginning, a website, probably some pools soon but that is far as it goes.

Joe-Blow doesn't care and doesn't know the difference between Primecoin and Riecoin nor does he care and that is the exact point. Hype Coin. Make some dollars, have some fun, burn some chips but in the end it is just part of the cryptocoin saturation which is a bigger problem.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 04:46:41 PM

get out...get out seriously. You havent even read what this coin is...Go ask for free Dogecoins and let this one alone.

I did read what the coin was about on their website and it is nothing but a hype coin. Prove me wrong. Tell me what this coin brings to the table that is so innovative anyone outside the market will adopt it? There is nothing. Ok so the algorithm changed up a bit. Tell me how your neighbor charlie that  bought a 2000$ mac to play games on facebook cares about a few lines of code change?

Again, nothing innovative. Nothing but hype coin.

Please prove me wrong
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 03, 2014, 04:36:58 PM
ughhhh. Not another Hype-Coin. Besides a tweak to the algorithm there is (yet again) nothing of real value with this new coin. Wow you can find prime numbers. PrimeCoin does that. Problem is everyone is scratching and scraping to get on the next "Bitcoin" so any new coin that gets released everyone and their grandmother jumps on it.

Sure, people will make money once accepted into exchanges but after x amount of time this coin will be like all the rest. Just a few pennies in a sea of endless alt coins.

This is part of the problem. Week after week anyone with a basic programming and marketing knowledge can make the next hypecoin. There is no innovation here. You can find prime numbers? a little different way? whoop-de-do.

How do you expect your coin to get passed the hype-trade?

The 3 major players are as follows:

BTC
LTC
PrimeCoin

That is it. Ride the hype! Go for it! make some money! but for long term investors? Like myself? NO THANKS.

Good Luck with your coin though. Really.
These type of coins are really really irritating!
