1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ShadowToken for the highly rated Shadow Era TCG on: December 09, 2018, 08:45:15 PM
There is a very interesting development today, now token holders can vote on whether they will have blockchain cards or not. I think its a great idea, buy and sell every card with crypto, it will increase the value of SHDW for sure. I checked and the price is way up today, at 6-month high in terms of BTC price, meaning it would have been a much better investment than BTC was lol
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ❗❗ Friendly Reminder: SECURE. YOUR. ASSETS. on: September 24, 2018, 11:28:42 PM
$60m stolen from Japanese exchange on Sept 19. Definitely don't keep a lot of crypto on exchanges!

But an interesting point was made about hardware wallets: they can be stolen, seized by police, lost, hw failure, etc. If you are storing coins for a longer term and don't need to do transactions, just make a paper wallet or write down your passphrase and store someplace safe in a non-obvious way. Get an old book and circle letters or something Cheesy
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: September 20, 2018, 08:34:00 PM
Ledger is just storing your private keys securely. Your account still has all the features as a normal Waves wallet and nobody can know the difference, it's just a Waves address. You can lease, receive tokens, etc. You can store in Ledger and then later still import your secret passphrase into the online wallet to access whatever you want, then clear your cookies etc and still have it safe on Ledger.

Almost $60m this time, hacking is a big business. Never keep too much of your crypto on an exchange!!

I love Waves and it's nice to see a lot of great dev progress lately.

I'm most interested in Waves Keeper, and the data service, these will be great to develop other projects.

One gripe is of course the "smart contracts" aren't so smart right now. I mean, come on, they basically can just deny a tx. Sure that means you can do escrow or multisig or vested funds, but that's about it. Instead of calling it "smart contracts" why don't you call it "deniable transactions". Still waiting for proper smart contracts and then we'll see Waves be a true competitor to Eth  Grin

6  Other / Off-topic / Re: Up to how much are you willing to markup a product and still consider it moral? on: September 20, 2018, 12:51:51 PM
The problem is not with the price hikes but with the pesky things limiting competition like patents and lobbyists that ensure a monopoly. If people have buying choice then companies are free to charge with what they can get away with, but it's really unfair if people have no other choice but to pay a higher price.

As for this particular article, the sad truth is that it was the generic brand that raised their price, "because they could." Well, after all, they are a business, so I agree with that. The market determines the price. If there are no other competitors, then the price will be high. But hopefully the high price will attract more people to manufacture the generic drug, so the price will eventually go down.

The real problem is the healthcare system in the US, I think everywhere else in the world the same drugs are really cheap, it's insane what pharma companies can get away with in the US.

8  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to get girls when you're not handsome? on: August 21, 2018, 02:52:29 AM
So make yourself handsome then. Work out every day, eat right and get a buff bod. It takes like 30 minutes a day, so what's your excuse? If your face is not handsome, get some muscles and I guarantee the girls won't be looking at your face... It's easier than getting rich, it's something you can control and see progress every day.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin puzzle transaction ~32 BTC prize to who solves it on: August 21, 2018, 02:41:06 AM
The creator of this "puzzle" already posted in this thread, said that the pk's used increasing bits but were otherwise random, and then proved it was him by saying he would increase the balance on the addresses 10x and then did just that. So don't waste your time looking for patterns, this "puzzle" is just intended to check on the progress of brute-force pk guessing.
10  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 🔥🔥The world's first biometric hardware crypto wallet - Unikeys' UKey Card🔥🔥 on: August 18, 2018, 04:34:40 PM

What makes you think the merchant ecosystem doesn't work? In fact we have actually developed a proof of concept with a number of partners and they actually work. Just need a few more touches to it.

I'm sure it will work, technically speaking. But the adoption rate is going to be a big challenge. Unless every merchant is using it, nobody will want to use it. There are just too many other crypto payment solutions vying for attention... Just start simple and sell the biometric hardware wallet for $ :p

Lots of good news in the August dev update. Ledger support is great, hopefully it will be available quickly.

This is perhaps the best question I've heard all day
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: August 06, 2018, 02:38:46 PM
I want to stay anonymous, espeacially my transactions:

Is it possible to track a transaction trough the coinomat gateway?

Instead of sending BTC through their gateway, a suggestion might be to use a service such as https://changelly.com/ to convert BTC to Waves and send directly to your Waves account.

If you go through a different exchange or convert currencies then it's very hard to track because they have huge pools of crypto. Plausible deniability, at the very least Wink

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: August 06, 2018, 02:30:40 PM
To be honest I also didn't get this part "What's the difference between accepting 1 ERC20 token or 10 ERC20 tokens?"

By definition, ERC20 tokens have standardized smart contracts on the Etherium chain, meaning that once you do the behind-the-scenes programming to support 1 ERC20 token, there is minimal work on implementing support for all others. Like Waves tokens, a single Etherium wallet can hold many ERC20 tokens. It's not like their other payment gateways like Bitcoin, Zcash, DASH, Monero, etc which all have their own blockchain that you have to work with.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: August 05, 2018, 03:45:51 PM
Wow two consecutive fud posts! This guy is trying hard.  Grin Grin Grin

Don't get me wrong, I love Waves and now hold alot because it's a steal at this price. But I'm just saying what others are thinking, and no answers are forthcoming... I believe my posts are thoughtful and intelligent, and I genuinely hope that Waves can clean up its act.

Hello. There will be a payment gateway for ERC20 tokens as a temporary decision before atomic swaps. Obviously there are difficulties with implementing a new payment gateway because Waves Platform has only the following gateways: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcach, Bitcoin Cash, Dash and Monero. That's why it's not very easy to add all Ethereum-based tokens via payment gateways.

I'll have to disagree with you there. What's the difference between accepting 1 ERC20 token or 10 ERC20 tokens? When the work is done for 1, 99% of the work is done for all. That's the whole point of ERC20 tokens.

Speaking about voting, it's impossible to be included in the list of voters without taking part in voting because anyone can check the list of wallets there. There's no point in this.

You missed the whole point of my post. It's that the voting is centralized and not on the blockchain. Waves can make up votes if it wants, and have them appear on that list, to force whatever token they want to win. Hence, no point in that vote. To have a proper vote, it needs to be on the blockchain. Eg, send any minimal amount of Waves to a certain address that corresponds to your vote. That's how I've seen other votes be done in the past. Other projects using Waves tokens are looking at how Waves itself does things, and this is not the correct way to hold a vote at all.

WAVES LEFT TO DIE IN 2020

Check Twitter, https://twitter.com/Ebunayo08/status/1025785794894745605

Sasha had an internal presentation outlining the company's short- and long-term plans.

Fall 2018
- Vostok launch
- NTC contracts launch

Winter 2019
- Turing complete contracts launch
- R&D work on off-chain protocols, state channels, secure POS, confidentiality
- Waves side-chains

2020
- Integration of Vostok in large enterprises
- Maturation of the Waves blockchain
- Moving on to the next generation of open blockchains

So.... "moving on"... ouch
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: August 05, 2018, 12:42:17 PM
There is currently a vote on which ERC20 tokens should be listed on the DEX, voting.wavesplatform.com

But my question is: what's the point of the vote? If they want to start listing ERC20 tokens, then just list them all. It's not like it's really more work for them.

If the point is just to show how blockchain voting can work, as a proof of concept, then they have also failed on this point. Let me explain...

Just like the DEX, they try to pass it off as decentralized while in reality, it is centralized. As we have seen with the recent DNS hijacking, the dex is controlled by a single server. Yes, there is the capability for people to run their own DEX if they want, but the current DEX that all the clients use is just one server, just one Matcher that gets all the trading fees. NOT decentralized.

The voting is similar. They have you verify your account through client.wavesplatform.com. Okay, nothing wrong with that, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and just trust that they're not saving your private keys. They use this to verify your Waves address and record your vote. When voting closes, they tally up the number of WCT that each account has, to use as their voting power, and the token with the most WCT voted for it wins.

The problem here, if you didn't realize, is that the votes themselves are not recorded on a blockchain. What's to stop them from saying that an account with alot of WCT voted for something when really they didn't? Yep, it's centralized - they can completely control the results of the vote.

I didn't see this update posted here, so maybe most people are not aware. (edit: actually it's way back on page 13)

As of 2017-07-11 the rewards for keys with bits 161+ were removed, and others made to be 10x the amount.

Can I still use this online wallet: https://waveswallet.io/? Will there be any loss of my assets using this wallet? Thank you for your help

You can use it and it still works, but it's old and probably not going to be updated anymore. Official online wallet is now https://client.wavesplatform.com
