I'm the original dev of ZED. My team decided to let it die after the problems with MintPal, Cryptsy et al. We had a total re-design of ZED for 2.0 (web, coin logo, wallet, etc.) but it was way too much of a headache and money pit to keep going. We paid far too many BTC of our own to get it listed on large exchanges (that ended up stealing, or failing when we'd have a huge run on ZED), and ended up coming out in the hole, every one of us. We pulled the plug.
I've toyed with the idea of a version 3, revamped to modern ASIC-proof algos and such (I was researching them back in 2013, actually, but only had test networks functioning). Maybe, if another dev or more wanted to talk, I'd be open. ZED was an experience I am proud of, and yet have a pit in my stomach the way it was left, at the same time.

Per the PM I sent, the versioning has not changed yet, this was an oversight that will be corrected in the next major update coming in the near future.
The links have been updated to the new source, where are you seeing the old link?
Some of the block explorers are still on the old blockchain, they are provided by individuals that need to update. Always use the blockchain at http://162.243.66.131:2750/chain/Zedcoin (which is also the addnode).
Which exchanges are you referring to as not trading ZED?
If you are stuck at 97000 with the new source, you are doing something wrong.

Before stating your negative opinion on a public forum, maybe ask questions first, we're happy to answer here or privately.

Thank you for the concern, but ZED is not dead. The developer did not sell anything, nor run away.
The truth is, there is a re-branding in motion and some of the new assets took some time to receive. Look for the ANN in the coming week.

We have both short and long terms plans for ZED. The falling prices are a common trait for coins these days. The charts all pretty much look the same
Very small (and constant) SELL orders have not helped the matter for Zedcoin on Cryptsy , whether an autosell for a multipool, or a bot, or what have you.
We're a long haul coin, these fluctuations don't concern us too much. It would be nice to be back to pre-Cryptsy levels however!

Could always use more folks. We've had crazy hash spikes the last couple days. Last night before bed it was at 805mh, 500 of which I couldn't account for on any of the known pools.

Yep, we didn't want to start a voting war early in the week. We also believe Crypsty will take 2, but either way we're staying in striking distance.
We've also just brought on board a new member of TeamZed, Mr. G. He has 15 years of Internet marketing and entrepreneurial experience, with a focus on APi integrations. Expect to see some cool stuff from his direction in the near future.

We officially Announced Zedcoin's launch on Cryptocointalk. Our bct presence has never been that high, as we've used other avenues to communicate ZED, but we do have dedicated folks following ZED as well as a core staff of major stake holders that are not willing to sell so easily. I welcome all to join in, now is a great time to invest in the coin, still pretty darn undervalued based on the number of coins in existence (almost 8mil). The hashrate is growing, the trading is doing well on MintPal, and we do plan on being selected in the next round on Cryptsy. We are not pumpers trying to get a meteoric rise (and subsequent fall) out of Zed, our approach is the "slow burn".
