I made an imgur album of some of the pool pages for the curious: https://imgur.com/a/Ub6iuwA

We really went to great lengths to show off detailed miner stats, including a plot of your shares in relation to the PPLNS window, a full table of all your shares, and downloadable reports.

I like these changes in the emission of RYO, I completely agree with them. During the time when the reward for the block will be 97 coins, there will be a lot of pressure on the value of the coin by miners and this may reduce the cost of the coin.

There is a revised version of the emission curve: https://www.reddit.com/r/ryocurrency/comments/bh9ei7/community_debate_proposed_emission_change_part_two/

This model has a "plateau" instead of a peak. This is to counteract moving the peak closer. Feel free to leave a comment on Reddit if you have an account there.

Got it! Thanks. No biggie really. I was just curious and I guess I needed a confirmation that my observation was correct. So the config file at the alternative location can then be deleted, right?

Correct, you can delete the config file from the D:\ drive
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 【ANN】【RYO】【Cryptonight-heavy】 RyoCurrency - Privacy for everyone on: November 15, 2018, 11:37:42 PM

I have set up my "ryo" data folder at a different location (D:\ drive) instead of the default one. Though "ryo\gui\config.json" exist at the explicit alternative location, it seems that GUI wallet still persists on creating and reading from the active configuration file at the default location (C:\ProgramData\ryo\gui\config.json). Is this by design?

It is by design. The GUI needs to read the settings file from a known location to know where else to look for the blockchain if you change it. I could have opted to store the path to the config file, or all the config options themselves within electron's localstorage -- but in my opinion that just adds unnecessary complexity. In the case that there are any issues with the config file, it is easier and more user friendly to have the settings file in a default location that the user can either edit with notepad, or just delete (forcing the wallet to go back to the welcome screen.)

-snip-

Excellent. That's exactly it with the benefit of your instructions showing how to copy over the blockchain as to not re-sync the entire chain on view only machine.  Smiley

Thanks for the clarification. It's still a very significant and important update though; especially for the old-eyes thang (at least for me anyway). Grin

Edit: Can you post a brief impromptu guide/steps on view-only wallet setup? I suppose I could have it on my tablet/laptop to monitor balance/transactions on the go without risking exposure of the key, right?

Basically what @RyoCurrency said, but since you want to restore the view only wallet on your laptop you don't have to delete the original wallet file on what I presume is your desktop. Just copy over your public RYoL address and your private view key to the laptop and use the Restore view-only wallet as @RyoCurrency said.

One more thing I'll expand on. I think you're probably familiar with how view only wallets work on cryptonote, but for anyone else: view only wallets only show incoming transactions, not outgoing. So If you have outgoing transactions a view only wallet won't show that, but it WILL show the incoming change from that transaction. Thus view only wallets tend to make it look like you have a much larger balance.

To fix this, in this version of Atom there is also a manage key images option. From your full/hot wallet, select the manage key options and then use the Export function. This will write your key images to a file, which you can import to the view only wallet on your laptop. This lets the view only wallet know that you've spent certain coins and your balance will be correct there as long as you send over the key images from the hot wallet to your view only wallet occasionally.

Key images won't let you spend from the view-only wallet. For signing transactions you will always need the private spend key, which the view only wallet of course lacks.

I take it that the view-only wallet feature allows us to create a corresponding offline wallet for signing transactions like in XMR GUI wallet and some BTC wallets. If so, is there a set up instruction or a guide somewhere?

Hey visdude, not yet. I know that's the feature you're pining for, but this was only the first step in that direction. Offline signing is planned in addition to multi-sig functionality in the GUI.

A basic question, will the newest coming version of RYO wallet be a mandatory or optional one?
Thank you.

Optional, but it adds some pretty nice features and a few bug fixes.

Quick update on the new Atom wallet. Version 1.1.0 is in final beta testing and will scheduled for release either Sunday or Monday. https://github.com/ryo-currency/ryo-wallet/pull/11

Full list of updates along with release notes will be posted soon.

In the official ryoblocks store, can the items only be paid with RYO coins? Will the user who owns RYO coins be able to advertise items in the store in any way?

I don't have the ability to add multiple vendors to the store. That might be a separate project down the line that others have asked for as well. I would love to have a Ryo marketplace where others can sell on the platform

I successfully created a new wallet on a W10 machine. However, I only got 14 seed words for it instead of the usual 25. Did something go awry or it indeed did change? If the latter  is true, since which version did it change?

Hey visdude,

We actually did change to 14 word seeds. This happened back on July 2nd (version 0.2.0 release notes: https://github.com/ryo-currency/ryo-currency/releases/tag/0.2.0)

Older wallets still retain their 25 word seeds, but all new wallets only have 14. Fireice was able to do this because upstream monero wasn't using the full entropy available in their seed words, so we actually were able to cut them down and implement a better checksums algorithm.

Also, you'll be happy to hear the new Atom version that is going to be released in a few days has a very nice dark theme! It also has view only wallet support.

Just found out that they are scamming! Giving themselfs 25 000 Ryo every week to dev fund and they are Dumping every day on cryptopia and trageogre in small amounts before people find out their scam.

Hah, nice troll. The community knows about the 25k Ryo a week. It is equivalent to the Sumo premine, but in smaller amounts to prevent us from dumping 1M coins at once (we wouldn't do that anyway.)

Plus, we aren't the ones dumping, every team member has been buying more Ryo from whoever is dumping those coins.

Oh, what a day!
Finally, RYO community has had the RYO Store, which accept RYO Currency.
With the store's effects, I guess daily liquidity of RYO will raise to higher level soon.

I think it is silly the cryptocurrency projects who open up a webstore with branded gear and then only accept credit card or paypal. The idea is to get people used to seeing crypto as a currency.

Which version of RYO wallet I should use to store my coins if I decide to mine the RYO coin with my rigs?
Please give me your recommendation and links to download the given wallet of RYO.

GUI: https://github.com/ryo-currency/ryo-wallet/releases
CLI: https://github.com/ryo-currency/ryo-currency/releases
PAPER: https://ryo-currency.com/paper-wallet/

I would suggest the GUI.

I don't remember doing that nor do I do it as a habit/routine. I just learned from experience to run as admin first and foremost if a program bombs out in Windows before trying any other troubleshooting procedures.

Anyway, off the top of my head, the main item on my feature wish list that I enumerated earlier on this thread is the cold-view only/offline signing wallet feature to further secure funds. Also, please bring back "dark theme" (hopefully in the next point release); much easier on the old eyes. Smiley

Edit:

BTW, Atom looks great! Detailed syncing percentages info at the bottom is a very nice touch.

Noob question: what is a "kurz" address?

Dark theme is definitely coming back, I just didn't have time to implement it for the first release, and wanted to not delay the wallet. I will check back on the list earlier on the thread. View-only wallets is definitely something I want to do.

Kurz addresses are a special address where your view key == spendkey. Thus, you cannot create a view only wallet for it, but your address is shorter (55 characters as opposed to 99). Try generating one here: https://ryo-currency.com/paper-wallet/
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 【ANN】【RYO】【Cryptonight-heavy】 RyoCurrency - Privacy for everyone on: September 21, 2018, 04:00:32 PM
It's not that I purposely ran it as admin. I ran ryod.exe manually per your suggestion (presumably to test/troubleshoot my issue) but as I stated earlier, it bombs out. So I tried running it as admin just to see what happens and that seems to solve my issue. It doesn't bother me at all. I just turned on "Run as administrator" in Atom.exe's shortcut properties and everything is peachy. I have no idea why Windows would require admin permission on some apps and doesn't for others.

If I were to take a guess why this happens, the first time you ran Ryo (either ryod.exe or the old wallet) it was run as administrator, and thus the file permissions of C:\ProgramData\ryo are set to admin. I'll try to replicate that next time I'm building the wallet. Anyway, good to know that fixes it for you, and will keep that in mind if other users have issues with it.

I'm open to feed back with Atom, if you have any  Wink I know we talked earlier in this thread about features that could be added to the old GUI before we decided to scrap it.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 【ANN】【RYO】【Cryptonight-heavy】 RyoCurrency - Privacy for everyone on: September 18, 2018, 01:59:35 PM
Thanks for the timely reply, mosu_forge.

Windows Firewall is off as I am using a different AV/firewall and there is no issue there. However, ryod seems to bomb out.

Edit:

Never mind. I got it. It needs to be run as admin. Is it best practice to restore the wallet from seed in Atom instead of just importing the one from the prior version for proper registration of wallet file in the appropriate folder?

I have no idea why some people need to run ryod.exe as admin on windows, I never have. If it bothers you, I would check the directory permissions on C:\ProgramData\ryo.

[EDIT] You could also move C:\ProgramData\ryo to somewhere else since the new GUI has the option to select a location, if for some reason you can't change permissions in C:\ProgramData, but then make sure to use the --data-dir argument anytime you run ryod.exe manually if you do that. [/EDIT]

The best practice is to import the old wallet, using the import from legacy gui feature will be the easiest. The reason it is best to import instead of restoring from seed is that Atom utilizes more information from the wallet cache file than the old GUI wallet, so it shows things like who you sent funds to, which was never available in the old wallet, and will be lost if you restore from seed.

I was excited about this release. Unfortunately, it's not working at my end. It seems to hang at "Starting daemon" with the pulsating globe icon. It doesn't even close properly at this point after clicking "X" on the upper right hand corner and then the "EXIT" confirmation; it just hangs at "Closing..." and "X" needs to be clicked again at this point before the window finally closes. Note that I have an existing and current database file at C:\ProgramData\ryo used with the prior RyoGUIWallet v0.3.0.0. Atom should have picked it up where it left off, right?

Hey visdude,

The values of -1 are normal, they just mean no limits imposed. Atom will pick up the old blockchain location.

As to why it is not starting, at that point Atom is trying to start the daemon and waiting for RPC to respond. Can you try running manually ryod.exe bundled with Atom (C:\Program Files\ryo\RyoWallet\resources\bin) or check if windows firewall is blocking it at all?

What has changed in the latest GUI release? The last commit was 11 days ago, but the latest release was 6 hours ago. I like to run code from source instead of prebuilt binaries.

Hi all,

Is there any difference between using the lite-wallet and the normal one with following config?

./ryo-wallet-cli --daemon-address nodes.hashvault.pro:18734

I suppose the behavior should be the same.

Many thanks!

No difference. The LITE wallet uses --daemon-address geo.ryoblocks.com which I set up to pick the closest official node to you. See nodes.ryoblocks.com for a list of geographic ones.

a good idea is to fork the gui XMR wallet like LOKI did and fix it to your needs

We *could* just fork the XMR GUI, but I'd rather build a brand new one from scratch to allow us to integrate the features we want. I plan on making it pretty advanced configuration wise.

EDIT: although we may also port the XMR one over just to give users choices. Look at TurtleCoin, they have like 5 different GUI wallets Cheesy
