We are an independent development team with a "crazy" passion for blockchain and smart contracts.  We pooled our collective wisdom for the project which in our view will become a true beacon for blockchain technology adoption amongst the largest and most active internet community - gamers.  In two short words - we are building a blockchain browser-based game.  And no kitties here.
To be honest, we don't even have a name yet for the our team, but this does not bother us because our project already has a designation.  Without any further delay - please welcome - fully decentralized multiplayer real-time strategy (DMMORTS) Impera World.

Game developers with massive experience in various gaming and near gaming projects are the core of our team with an impressive list of successfully launched games - over 30 items running on various platforms, including notorious Pinball HD (Apple Design Award 2010 among some of the accolades).

Impera World is our research about the possible ways for a human civilization to evolve if blockchain was available since day one.  It's an experiment with the aim to understand whether the society could grow into something civilized or inevitably would still slide into the realms of wars and violence because people could never change.

Impera World might look like another Civilization-like multiplayer game at a first glance with a standard set of strategies for playing where a user picks his starting spot on the map, launches a settlement with a minimal number of inhabitants and structures and starts growing and developing.  Resources are extracted, new goodies are produced, the world around is explored with scouting expeditions, armies trained, wars with other players started - all standard stuff.

However, this game has a unique and fundamental gaming principle which we call User-Generated Smart Contracts (UGSC). This principle is paramount in building relationships between the players with the help of smart contracts.  And this, my friends, will make diplomacy to become the ultimate element of the game with unheard of level of flexibility.

Let's see an example - Bob attacks Alice's settlement with his infantry and cavalry.  Alice is not newbie and quickly realizes that his force is not in shape to oppose the attacker - time to make a deal!  The two players enter into a smart contract backed agreement where Bob withdraws the troops without harming the settlement and Alice agrees to pay tribute for Bob's mercy.

That is one boring example, bro.  Here is my version.  The same scenario - Bob attacks Alice, however, Bob made a fundamental mistake in his war preparation and was completely unaware that Alice had a collective protection agreement with three other players - Billy, Willy, and Dilly (let's just call these dudes NATO for simplicity).  This agreement (as you can imagine - it's an active smart contract) specifically states that in case Alice is attacked, all NATO members have an obligation to delegate 10% of their respective armies to help Alice.  Now, Bob gets his nose bloodied and Alice who had no army in the first place can resort back to his peaceful settlement life of growth and prosperity.

I hope you already like all of this.  Just imagine a game Universe which is comprised only of players' activities.  Paying tribute, helping someone to fight a war, signing non-aggression treaties, building empires through unification, creation of your own banks, issuing of own money, etc - all of this will be smart contract controlled and managed and the players will be initiating those smart contracts.  In this scenario we have no way of knowing - what will happen next in the game.  We don't have scenarios or scripts - we can only offer a sandbox to play with smart contracts in the gaming environment.  What is most important, no matter how obnoxious this will sound - we truly believe that the best smart contracts will eventually find their way into the real world application from the virtual world.

Smart contracts will be created from scratch with an embedded visual editor.  A smart contract templates directory will also be available for those who will need help getting started.

Resources.

Strategy games are unimaginable without the resources and we are not an exception. Impera World will also have wood, iron, stone, coal, food, gold and other infrastructure objects to mine and to process the resources.  However, we added an extra twist for our players.

Imagine that all game resources are ERC20 tokens which can be freely traded on the external exchanges or within the game's Impera Exchange (Impex).  There will be no limitations for the players to exchange their resources for fiat money or inject crypto funds back into the game through reverse fiat exchange.  Needless to say that every event that takes place within the game will have a direct impact on the price of the respective token.  If a big war breaks out - the "iron" token price will most likely spike.  Everyone in possession of this token can benefit greatly financially.  Let's all praise cryptos because the "how do I pull my cash out of the game without getting troubles" dilemma is no longer pertinent.  Getting funds in and out is as easy as pie.  No more "send me your passport scan" or "you have reached your daily limit".  Whenever you please, your developed or conquered resource can be exchanged for your favorite bitcoin or monero.

Consensus.


The game is built in full compliance with DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) principles.  We don't have an admin entity, the entire game belongs to the players and the gaming community's consensus is the governing mechanism for the project's development.

Most likely we will use our own Ethereum based DappСhain with Delegated Proof of Stake consensus protocol. This means that block verification strictly sits with the project's stakeholders.  Stakeholders will periodically have a vote on how to implement improvements via Impera World Improvement Proposals (IWIP) mechanism if the balance will require corrections or new in-game assets will need to be introduced - all this will be done without a need to deal with forks.

A little bit of thinking out loud and conclusion.


Blockchain will change our world.  Blockchain is changing the world as we speak.  Nobody knows what will come out of it eventually, however, Impera World is a perfect sandbox to test the smart-contract to model the future.  We really hope that this alternative future will be nothing but SMART SOCIETY founded exclusively on principles of justice.

We believe in what say.  We really think that not everything is wrong with the humanity.  We believe that the wealth can be enjoyed by everyone and not by elites only.  We believe that the vertical governance structure - a source of all problems on our planet - can be effectively replaced with a horizontal structure.  "Centralization" will be forever forgotten as a bad dream and those who created and promoted it will vanish in the dustbin of history.  The pyramid of power can be destroyed and all-seeing Eye of “Providence” can be closed forever.

Allow us to quote one dude who once said: «Every cook must learn to govern the state». What did Lenin really mean (that was the dude, by the way) when he said that?  We think that he was referencing the blockchain.  We don't really care what you think about grandpa Lenin, but the mere thought of getting in the same club level with those who run this world is dear and special.  It does not really matter whether he was honest when he said that or really did not give a crap about all the cooks in the world along with the rest of working class.  We don't know.  Nobody knows.  But the idea is as fresh and attractive as a drug.

Мы являемся независимой командой разработчиков, повернутых (в хорошем смысле слова) на идее блокчейна и смарт-контрактов. Основа нашей команды - гейм-девелоперы, за плечами которых работа в  различных игровых и околоигровых компаниях, а также внушительный список из более чем 30 выпущенных игр под различные платформы включая нашумевший Pinball HD, получивший множество наград включая престижную Apple Design Award 2010.

На первый взгляд, Impera World представляет собой еще одну браузерную игру наподобие Civilization со стандартным для подобных стратегий игровым процессом – игрок выбирает место на игровой карте, основывает поселение с минимальными количеством жителей и набором инфраструктуры, и начинает развитие. Добывает ресурсы, создает новые товары, изучает мир вокруг себя, отправляясь в походы, тренирует армию, нападает на других игроков и так далее.
 
Однако, основное отличие нашей игры от подобных, заключается в уникальном игровом принципе, который мы назвали User-Generated Smart Contracts (UGSC). Согласно этому принципу, все взаимоотношения между игроками регулируются заключенными смарт-контрактами. И это, как нам кажется, выводит такую важную составляющую игры, как дипломатию, на невиданный ранее уровень гибкости.
 
Вот пример типичной игровой ситуации. Игрок Вася напал со своей пехотой и конницей на поселение игрока Петя. Однако, Петя, понимая что силы неравны, предложил разрулить все более-менее мирно и готов заключить смарт-контракт, по которому Вася, с одной стороны, не разрушает окончательно поселение Пети, а Петя, с другой, выплачивает Васе дань.

Твой кейс скучен, бро, вот мой вариант. Итак, тот же сценарий нападения Васи на Петю. Однако, Вася, неправильно проанализировав ситуацию в игре, не знает, что у Пети есть договор о коллективной защите с игроками Николаем, Андреем и Тимофеем (“блок НАТО”). По этому договору (а он, как все уже наверное догадались, представляет собой ничто иное как действующий смарт-контракт) в случае нападения на Петю, все члены этого самого НАТО обязаны немедленно отправить на помощь десять процентов своих войск. В итоге, агрессор Вася получает внушительный отпор, а мирный Петя, вообще не имея войск, продолжает спокойно заниматься развитием своего поселения.
 
Надеемся, вам уже нравится. Только представьте себе игру, Вселенная которой полностью формируется за счет игроков. Выплата дани, помощь в войне, пакты о ненападении, объединение в целые империи, создание своего банка, выпуск собственных денег и прочее – все это смарт-контракты, которые заключили между собой живые игроки. При таком подходе мы сами не знаем куда вырулит игровой мир. У нас нет сценария и сюжета, у нас песочница для тестирования смарт-контрактов в игровой среде. И главное - мы искренне верим, как бы это громко не звучало, что наиболее удачные решения перекочуют из виртуального мира в реальный.

Смарт-контракты создаются с помощью встроенного визуального редактора, позволяющего создать контракт с нуля. Также игрок может воспользоваться готовым шаблоном из базового набора смарт-контрактов.
 
Ресурсы.

Ни одна стратегия не обходится без ресурсов и мы не исключение. В Impera World тоже будет древесина, камень, уголь, еда, золото и соответствующие объекты инфраструктуры, которые будут все это добывать и перерабатывать. Но и тут мы решили пойти дальше и по-настоящему удивить своих игроков.
 
Итак, все ресурсы в игре являются токенами стандарта ERC20, которые свободно торгуются на криптобиржах. Как на внутриигровой Impera Exchange (Impex), так и на внешних. Соответственно, игроки имеют возможность беспрепятственно менять свои ресурсы на фиат/крипту и обратно. И конечно же, все события в игре напрямую влияют на курс того или иного токена, например во время большой войны, стоимость токена «железо» с большой долей вероятности взлетит, чем могут воспользоваться держатели этих токенов, выгодно продав часть ресурса и получив прибыль.
Отдельное спасибо такому явлению как криптовалюты - проблемы «а как мне вывести бабки за пределы игры и не получить при этом проблем», перед игроками больше не стоит. Ввод и вывод средств осуществляется одной левой. Никаких «пришлите, пожалуйста, паспорт» или «вы превысили дневной лимит». В любой момент, любой добытый или захваченный ресурс можно обменять на ваш любимый биткоин или монеро.

Консенсус.
 
Игра построена в четком соответствии с принципами DAO – децентрализованной автономной организации. У нас нет администрации, вся игра принадлежит игрокам, а консенсус комьюнити по всем игровым вопросам – основа развития проекта.

Вероятнее всего мы будем использоваться собственный DappСhain на основе Ethereum, с консенсус протоколом Delegated Proof of Stake. Это означает, что процесс заверения блоков, ложится на топ стейкхолдеров проекта. Также, стейкхолдеры периодически голосуют за предложения по улучшению, которые называются Impera World Improvement Proposals (IWIP), допускающие корректировку баланса, или введение новых игровых ассетов, исключая при этом потребность в постоянных форках.

Немного философии в заключение.
 
Блокчейн изменит наш мир. Он меняет его уже сейчас, на наших глазах. Каким он будет, не знает никто, но моделируя эти процессы в песочнице смарт-контрактов Impera World, можно попытаться заглянуть в будущее. И мы надеемся, что там, в будущем, мы увидим умное общество (smart society), основанное исключительно на справедливости.

Мы верим в это. Мы действительно считаем, что с человечеством все не так уж и плохо. Что деньги действительно могут принадлежать каждому, а не кучке избранных. Что вертикальная структура власти, являющаяся источником всех проблем на нашей планете, может быть заменена на горизонтальную. Что понятие “централизация” может быть забыто как страшный сон, а ее автор отправлен на свалку истории. И что, в конце концов, пирамида власти может быть разрушена, а всевидящее око закроется раз и навсегда.

Позвольте процитировать одного классика, который когда-то сказал «Каждая кухарка должна научиться управлять государством». Что имел ввиду Ленин, а это был именно он, произнося данную фразу? Мы лично считаем, что речь шла про блокчейн. И неважно, как вы относитесь к дедушке Ленину, но идея встать на одну ступеньку с сильными мира сего, согласитесь, притягивает. И неважно, говорил ли он искренне или же в гробу и в белых тапочках видел всех этих кухарок и вообще рабочий люд. Мы не знаем. И никто не знает. Но идея жива и она захватывает как наркотик.
